Chapter 810

These thoughts kept popping up in Teresa’s mind. She was really pissed off by Irene. Just then, Teresa’s phone suddenly rang.
The Bluetooth picked up automatically, and then she heard that cute, childish voice from the other end. “Why aren’t you home yet, Mommy? I’ve been waiting for you forever,” Michael whined.
Hearing Michael’s gentle, sweet voice, Teresa instantly calmed down a lot. She said to Michael, “I’m on my way home now. I’ll be there soon.”
“Okay. Drive safe, Mommy!” Michael cooed.
“Alright, sweetie,” Teresa replied and then hung up.
Teresa looked down at her baby bump. She thought, ‘I’m almost seven months pregnant. Should I really abort the baby now? I just can’t bring myself to do it.
‘Once the baby is born, it’ll cling to me and call me “Mommy” all the time, just like Mike does. Am I really supposed to give up my baby just because of something Irene said?‘
But she just couldn’t let it go. She found Irene’s words absolutely infuriating. The more she hated Irene, the more she hated Jonathan.
Half an hour later, Teresa arrived at Rosary Estates and picked up Michael. Michael hugged her leg and kept calling “Mommy“. With Michael in her arms, Teresa greeted Werner, who had brought him over.
Werner said, “Mike was only at the Lynn residence for a few minutes before he started fussing and asking for you. Then my dad told me to bring him over right away.”
“Thank you, Werner,” Teresa said politely. “Sorry that Mike caused you so much trouble.”
“No big deal. Mike is Jonathan’s son. We’re all family,” Werner said.
Teresa thought, ‘Family? Really?‘ She gave a polite smile, not wanting to say more. “Alright, Werner, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take Mike upstairs now,” she said.
“Wait, Teresa.” Werner looked her up and down and then suddenly said, “Have you gained some weight?”
Teresa knew exactly what he meant. She replied calmly, “Yeah, I’ve been eating a bit too much lately and haven’t really watched my diet.”
Werner quickly added, “You’re still thin anywhere else, but your belly’s gotten a lot bigger.”
He was too embarrassed to just come out and ask if she was pregnant. He was already being as tactful as possible.
Teresa got what Werner was hinting at. She just smiled and joked that she really needed to go on a diet.
Werner didn’t push it since Teresa didn’t admit, but he was definitely suspicious.
“Mike, say goodbye to Grandpa Werner,” Teresa said.
“Bye, Grandpa Werner. See you!” Michael waved enthusiastically.
Once Werner left, Teresa took Michael upstairs. She just now noticed the bracelet on Michael’s wrist. “Mommy, Grandma gave this to me,”
Michael said.

After a brief pause, Teresa said, “Oh, that’s great. If Grandma gave you something, it means she really likes you. Just wear it. Alright, I’ll go make some food. It’s been a while since I cooked gruel for you. Do you miss Mommy’s cooking?”
“Well… Mommy, do you want to hear the truth, or a bit of a white lie?” Michael asked.
“White lie!” Teresa replied right away.
Michael clapped his hands and played along, saying, “Mommy, your gruel is the best in the whole world! Please make some for me, quick!”
Teresa was amused and laughed. “Alright, I’ll just pretend your little lie is the truth, then.”
They finished eating. “Mommy!” Michael suddenly called out.
Teresa washed her hands and came out of the kitchen. “What is it, sweetie? You startled me.”
“Mommy, look. Mr. Lime is on TV!” Michael pointed excitedly at the screen as he called out to Teresa.
Teresa saw Jonathan on TV, dressed in a sharp suit, tall and imposing. He was surrounded by several beautiful female business owners at a charity event, with elegant hostesses standing nearby.
She replied casually and then thought, ‘It’s a live broadcast. He said he was busy with my family stuff, but what’s this? Isn’t he just busy with
his own business?‘
Teresa turned off the TV and cuddled Michael until he fell asleep. Michael hadn’t slept with Teresa for several days, so the little guy slept extra soundly in his mom’s arms.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Jonathan calling. She didn’t feel like picking up, so she just left him hanging.
Instead, she went to take a shower first. After her shower, she saw that he had called again and even sent her a message: [Why didn’t you pick
up?]
Teresa replied: [Didn’t feel like answering. What’s up?]
Jonathan: [? What did I do to upset you?]
Teresa: [Nothing. I’ll let you get back to your event. I’m off to bed.]
Jonathan: [Were you watching TV?]
Teresa didn’t reply. Jonathan sent another message: [Are you jealous?]
Teresa was so pissed she just ignored him, turned off her phone, and went straight to bed.
When Jonathan called again, all he got was her voicemail. He got pissed, too. He thought, ‘She never lets me get a word in!‘
Jonathan got a call from the hospital. “Mr. Lynn, Ms. Johnston’s mother just fainted. Could you come over now?”
“What? Alright, I’ll be right there,” Jonathan answered.
Teresa had no idea that Evelyn had fainted. No one had told her. Jonathan hadn’t let the doctors inform her either, for fear that it would just stress her out.
Evelyn had fainted from exhaustion, but she was fine now. Jonathan stayed with her all night, and Evelyn saw everything he did for her. She thanked him over and over again.

“Jonathan, you’ve really been through a lot, always worrying about our family,” Evelyn said.

“It’s nothing,” Jonathan said. He sent someone to get Evelyn some nutritious food. Only after that did he call Teresa. He had to call several times before she finally answered.
Even though he hadn’t slept all night and was exhausted, Jonathan forced himself to be patient. “Why didn’t you reply last night? And why did you turn off your phone?”
“Why should I reply to you? I was cuddling with Mike and fell asleep, so I just turned off my phone,” Teresa said.
Jonathan noticed the annoyance in her voice, and then his tone cooled. “So I was just overthinking it. I thought you were jealous.”
“Why would I be jealous? It’s not like you’re my boyfriend or anything. I’m going to have lunch with Michael now. Gotta go.” Teresa hung up.
She handed the phone to Michael. Michael blinked in confusion and asked, “Mommy, why were you being so mean to Mr. Lime?”
“I wasn’t mean to him,” Teresa replied.
“You totally were!” Michael said righteously.

Teresa fell silent and thought, ‘Irene scolded me yesterday. Every time Jonathan and I met, Irene was always the first to come after me, while he just got away with it. And then last night, he was out there with a bunch of pretty women.‘
She honestly just couldn’t bring herself to be nice to him.
Just as she finished lunch with Michael, the little guy pointed downstairs and said, “Great–grandpa and Grandpa Werner are here!”
Teresa quickly looked out from the balcony. Sure enough, she saw Hayden and Werner pacing around downstairs.
Teresa couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. ‘Seriously? Did Werner go home last night and tell Hayden I might be pregnant? Alas, Werner really can’t keep anything to himself.”
Just as Teresa was lost in thought, the doorbell rang.
“Teresa, it’s Hayden. Are you home? I came to see you and Mike!” Hayden called out.
