Jonathan’s subordinate said, “Yes, Mr. Lynn.”
After he left, Jonathan leaned back in his chair and dozed lightly for two hours. Since arriving in Jarisburg, he had been arranging doctors and specialists for Lucas and sorting out accommodation.
He hadn’t even had time to spend with his son. He hadn’t even gone home to see Mike. Checking the time, he figured Michael should be back in Nareigh by now.
Then he saw a message from Benny, saying they had arrived safely in Nareigh. Jonathan breathed a sigh of relief.
“Jonathan,” A familiar voice pulled Jonathan out of his thoughts. Jonathan looked up to see Donald standing in front of him.
Jonathan raised an eyebrow slightly. “What are you doing here?”
“Jennifer’s left Nareigh,” Donald said. “Before she left, I asked around and found out which ward Lucas was in, so I caught a flight over. Is he alright now? How’s he doing?”
“It has nothing to do with you,” Jonathan replied coolly. “You’re not family, and you have no ties to them.”
“I don’t mean anything by it, I just wanted to check on him,” Donald said seriously. “And then, I want to meet Jennifer’s real mom.”
“Why do you want to see her?” Jonathan asked.
“I have some things to say to her,” Donald replied.
Jonathan happened to need to go to the police station as well. Since Donald wanted to go too, he just let him come along.
When Jonathan arrived, he found Peggy sitting there. Seeing Jonathan, she quickly asked Jonathan if Lucas was still unconscious.
Jonathan said coldly, “You’ve hurt him for so many years. Even in his dreams, all he feels is pain. Do you think he’d ever want to wake up and face this reality?”
“I… I treated Lucas well…” Peggy stammered.
Jonathan said, “You held him back from debuting for ten years, just because you were afraid he’d reunite with Evelyn. You made sure he could never chase his dreams. Is that what you call treating him well?
“Since you love faking things so much, go rot in there with Vincent. Hope you two frauds enjoy a lifetime together behind bars, and maybe you’ll even get buried together in the end.”
“You’re so heartless,” Peggy spat through gritted teeth. If she hadn’t run into a man as ruthless as Jonathan, she knew that with Evelyn’s intelligence, she never would have realized Lucas wasn’t her real son.
“This is what you deserve,” Jonathan said. “Someone else wants to see you.”
“Who is it?” Peggy asked.
Donald slowly sat down across from Peggy. After Jonathan turned to leave, Donald picked up the receiver and said, “I’m Jennifer’s husband, Donald Lynn.”
Peggy said expressionlessly, “Oh, I don’t even know you. Why do you wanna see me?”
Donald’s anger flared. “Tell me, why did you do all this? Do you even deserve to be called a mother? If you do, then why wouldn’t you

acknowledge he. your daughter, and why would you say such cruel things to her?”
Peggy sneered. “So what if I said a few harsh words to her? I don’t have any feelings for her. The one I raised all these years is Lucas, and he’s the only one I care about.”
Donald said, “And what about Jennifer? She’s your real daughter! She has had such a miserable life and has never been loved by her family. It made her so withdrawn and guarded.
“She has struggled for years, and when she finally tried to reconnect with you, you cursed her, told her she never should have been born and never should have lived. Why would you treat her like that?!”
Peggy suddenly went quiet. Her expression became complicated as if some old memory had surfaced. Then she snapped, “Say whatever you want. I just don’t care about her. Yeah, I cursed her, but so what?”
Donald shot back, “She tried to end her own life because of you. She almost died!”
