Chapter 803
The doctor said, “Ms. Davis, you can hold his hand and say something encouraging to him. Let him know, even in his dreams, not to give up on life.”
Evelyn gripped Lucas’s hand tightly and said while sobbing, “Lucas, can you hear me? Let’s leave all the pain behind us, okay? No more sadness. Our family will live together happily.
“Please wake up, Lucas. I promise I’ll love you with all my heart, and I won’t let anyone ever hurt you again!”
Jonathan took Lucas’s other hand and said, “You always wanted to be an actor, right? I’ll help you make that dream come true. Think about what you want most. Are you really willing to give up now?”
With Evelyn pouring out her love and Jonathan reminding him of his dreams, Lucas seemed to calm down a little. The doctors began resuscitating Lucas, performing CPR.
Meanwhile, Evelyn kept chattering away to Lucas. Jonathan had already sent someone to bring over Lucas’s former assistant, who was also his friend.
When the assistant saw Lucas lying there unconscious, he suddenly burst into tears. He was a true friend to Lucas. He hugged Lucas tightly and, just like Evelyn had done, whispered warm and encouraging words into his ear.
He said, “Lucas, please, don’t give up. There’s a whole beautiful future waiting for you. Didn’t you always want to see the sunrise? Let’s go climb that mountain together. Wake up, Lucas. There are so many people here who love you!”
With the doctors‘ efforts and the encouragement from his friend and family, Lucas’s vital signs gradually returned to normal. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Jonathan helped Evelyn to the bed to get some rest. “Ms. Davis, let’s not tell Teresa about what happened today. No need to make her worry,” Jonathan said softly.
Evelyn nodded. “Jonathan, you’ve been through a lot, too. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you. You should get some rest as well.”
“I’m not tired, Ms. Davis. You can go get some rest first,” Jonathan replied.
After making sure Evelyn was settled, Jonathan glanced at the clock. It was already five in the morning, and dawn was just about to break. He had meant to call Teresa last night, but in the end, he didn’t.
Jonathan thought that she should be asleep by now, so he didn’t disturb her rest.
Teresa didn’t wake up until noon. She was so miserable from her pregnancy symptoms last night that she tossed and turned until the sun
came up before finally falling asleep.
She only managed to doze off for a few hours. When she woke up, she actually felt a lot better. Jonathan called her just as she was about to
call him.
“Have you had breakfast?” Teresa asked Jonathan. He said yes.
“Me too,” Teresa said, steering the conversation away so he wouldn’t get worried about her. “How’s Lucas doing? Has he woken up yet?”
“Soon,” Jonathan replied. “The doctors say he’s getting better every day.”
“Are you sure? Don’t just say that to make me feel better,” Teresa said.
“Why would I lie to you? He’s definitely going to wake up. Oh, and Benny’s taking Mike back today. I’ll be back in a couple of days,” Jonathan

“Okay, got it,” Teresa replied.
Benny had already wrapped up Peggy’s case and handed it over to the lawyers, so he was getting ready to head back. Michael had been missing Teresa, so Jonathan asked Benny to bring him along.
The call ended. “Mr. Lynn.” One of Jonathan’s subordinates approached him and handed over a file.
“This is the evidence you asked me to gather,” the subordinate said. “It shows how Peggy Davis bribed the company executives during Lucas’s trainee days to keep him from debuting.”
Jonathan’s expression darkened instantly. He had always suspected there was something fishy going on with Lucas’s inability to debut all these years.
“Give this file to the lawyers,” Jonathan ordered coldly. “Tell them to get everything ready. I want Peggy to spend the rest of her life behind
bars!”
Peggy was the reason his brother–in–law ended up like this. He would never let that woman off the hook.
