Jennifer’s face was streaked with tears as she looked at Teresa and shook her head.

She said, “But I really can’t go on anymore, Teresa. I have nothing left. I’m such a coward. I just don’t have the courage to start over. I’m sorry, Teresa. I’m really, really sorry.”
She kept saying sorry to Teresa. Then she turned around, closed her eyes, and got ready to jump.
“Jennifer, no!” Once again, a voice rang out behind her.
Unlike when Teresa called her, Jennifer didn’t turn around immediately. She stiffened, clenched her fists, and her whole body tensed up.
Donald strode up to Jennifer and then stopped just a step away. He looked up at her, seeing Jennifer teetering on the edge.
Staring at her back, he choked up. “Jennifer, it’s me… I’m late. Please come down. Let’s go home, okay?”
Jennifer still didn’t turn around. Her eyes were already blurred with tears.
She struggled to speak, “Forget about me, Donald. You’re right. I’m not good enough to be your wife. Just sell the house, meet someone who truly suits you, and get remarried. I hope you find happiness.”
“Please, you’ve got it all wrong! I know you’re upset, but just hear me out. That girl at the hospital–it’s not what you think. She confessed her feelings to me, but I turned her down. I told her I was married, and she never bothered me again.
“I had no idea you’d go to the hospital, or that you’d see that and misunderstand. And I didn’t know things in your family had gotten so bad for you!”
Jennifer still didn’t turn around. She waited until Donald finished speaking. Then she took a deep breath and said, “It doesn’t matter anymore.”
Her voice was soft and almost emotionless. “Everything my mother said was true. I shouldn’t have been born. I was never meant to be alive.”
Donald said, “Why punish yourself for someone else’s mistakes? If she could say something like that to you, then she doesn’t deserve to be your mother. You’re still Jennifer, no matter what.
“Don’t let what she said mess with your head. Please, just come down, okay? I’m begging you…”
Jennifer finally turned around. She clutched at her chest in agony and said, “But I’ve made so many mistakes. I hate myself for it! I hurt the people I love, and I hurt so many innocent people, too. I don’t deserve to live. I don’t…”
Donald said, “Then let me atone with you. We’re still a couple. We should face this together.”
“No!” Jennifer tensed up again. “Everything I’ve done wrong is my own fault. It has nothing to do with you. Donald, please, I’m begging you– live your life, be happy, and just forget about me…”
As soon as Jennifer finished speaking, she threw her head back and leapt off the edge.
“No-!” Donald exclaimed. His desperate cry/echoed through the air.
Donald caught one of Jennifer’s arms. Teresa dashed over and seized Jennifer’s other hand. Jennifer was left dangling in the air, and her whole body was suspended above the void.
Staring at the two people holding onto her–one was the man she loved most, the other the sister she cherished more than anyone–Jennifer was overwhelmed with guilt for having hurt them both.

Chapter 792
She said, “Teresa, Donald, just let me go. I don’t deserve to live. I really don’t…”
Donald gripped Jennifer’s arm with all his strength and struggled to say, “I’m not letting you die. I saved you once before, and I’ll save you again.”
He fought desperately, using every ounce of strength to haul Jennifer back up to safety. Down below, the firefighters had already set up a rescue air cushion.
