Jonathan’s lips curled into a small smile. He had to admit that his son really was the cutest.
Once they were out of the airport, a black Rolls–Royce Cullinan pulled up next to Jonathan. Seeing Lucas standing by the side of the road, looking a bit lost with his phone out, Jonathan said, “Hop in. We’ll give you a ride.”
Lucas’s eyes widened when he saw the Rolls–Royce Cullinan. ‘So this guy’s a big shot,‘ he thought. But he quickly waved his hands and said,
Thanks, but I can’t trouble you.”
“It’s okay,” Jonathan said. “We’re going the same way.”
Lucas hesitated but eventually gave in and got into the car, thanking Jonathan several times. He really wasn’t the type to accept help easily.
As Lucas settled into his seat, Jonathan caught a glimpse of his profile and found himself spacing out again for a moment. ‘He really does
look a lot like Teresa. Am I just overthinking this?‘ he wondered.
Meanwhile, Lucas was holding Michael’s little hand, and the two of them hit it off right away, chatting and playing together.
Jonathan kept stealing glances at Lucas. After the car had driven for a while, something suddenly occurred to him, and he asked, “By the way, you said you just got back from Cerein?”
“Yeah, but I grew up here in Clusia. My family’s all Clusian. My mom took me abroad later,” Lucas replied. When he mentioned his mother, his lips tightened a bit, and there was a flash of discomfort in his expression.
Jonathan stroked his chin and suddenly thought of Evelyn’s cousin, Peggy, whom he’d been helping Teresa investigate. She’d been to Cerein, too, but she had recently come back to Clusia. And Peggy had a son who might actually be Teresa’s biological brother.
Thinking about it, Jonathan thought Lucas really did resemble Teresa a bit. He pondered, ‘If his last name was Davis… Well, could it be…‘
However, Jonathan decided to keep his suspicions to himself for now. He looked at Lucas and said, “We’re all Clusians here. I’m Jonathan Lynn. Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too, Mr. Lynn,” Lucas replied, shaking Jonathan’s hand. “Just call me Lucas.”
‘Lucas, huh?‘ Jonathan thought, raising an eyebrow. “So what’s your last time?”
“It’s a secret,” Lucas replied. He didn’t bother to tell others his last name, which he didn’t like at all.
A hint of disappointment flashed in Jonathan’s eyes. ‘Guess I really was just overthinking things. What are the odds he’d actually be Teresa’s brother?‘ he thought to himself.
“Dad!” Michael called out, pressing his face against the car window and turning to look at Jonathan. “I see your school.”
Jonathan glanced up and spotted the entrance to Querencia University. He smiled and asked, “How do you know I went there?”
“Mom told me. She said I should look up to you and follow your lead,” Michael replied.
Jonathan ruffled Michael’s hair affectionately.
Lucas couldn’t help but think Jonathan must be a really impressive guy because he had this quiet confidence and a certain presence about
him.

“Mr. Lynn, if you want, you can just let me off here. I can find my own way to Jarisburg Film Academy,” he said.
“It’s only a couple more miles. Let’s drop you off there,” Jonathan replied.
“Thanks a lot,” Lucas said.
When they finally arrived at their destination, Lucas insisted on transferring the fare to Jonathan via his phone, but Jonathan just waved him off.
Lucas looked a little embarrassed, his shy face tinged with awkwardness. He really didn’t like taking advantage of someone’s kindness.
He rummaged through his bag and pulled out the rosary he got from the church, handing it to Michael. He thought to himself, ‘Let this count
as the fare.’
Michael loved the rosary and immediately hung it on his backpack. Jonathan didn’t stop him.
“Dad, I wanna take a picture and send it to Mom. The gentleman who’s gonna be a big star just gave me a present!” Michael said excitedly.
