Chapter 754
A man’s face flashed through Teresa’s mind. ‘Did he do this?‘ she wondered.
Then Teresa snapped out of her thoughts. The police officer told them to go home and wait for news. The old ladies were temporarily detained there. After that, Teresa and Jennifer left the station.
Teresa noticed Jennifer holding her arm. “Are you alright?” she asked with concern.
“I’m fine,” Jennifer said, giving Teresa a quick once–over. “What about you? Are you hurt?”
Teresa shook her head. “Just got hit a couple of times. It’s no big deal.”
“Why did you come rushing over when you’re still pregnant?” Jennifer couldn’t help but scold her gently.
“Let’s drop that,” Teresa said, steering the conversation back. “I heard from Gary that you sold your car. Why did you do that?”
Jennifer went quiet. ‘So that’s why Teresa came to the hospital to find me,‘ she thought.
“Sorry,” Jennifer said. Then she explained to Teresa, “I sold the car because I went abroad to look for Peggy.”
Teresa frowned. “Peggy’s back in the country, but no one knows where she’s living yet.”
Jennifer looked at Teresa. “How do you know that? Did you go looking for her, too?”

“I asked someone to investigate. I told you if I heard anything about her, you’d be the first to know. You really didn’t have to go all the way
yourself,” Teresa said.
Jennifer fell silent again. “Gary bought the car back for me again. I should give it back to you.”
She handed the car keys to Teresa, wincing in pain. “You bought this for me in the first place. I’m not even your real sister, so I don’t really have the right to accept all your kindness.”
Teresa was quiet for a moment and then said, “Once I give something away, I never take it back. Let’s just leave it at that. Keeping the car will
make things easier for you anyway.”
“It doesn’t really matter if it’s convenient or not. I’ve already quit my job at the hospital, and Donald knows about my fake pregnancy now,”
Jennifer said.
It was only then that Teresa noticed Jennifer’s eyes were red and lifeless. “So, what now? Is he going to divorce you?”
“I don’t know. He was really angry and just walked away without even looking back,” Jennifer said.
Teresa looked at Jennifer, but she just couldn’t bring herself to be so harsh as to say, “You deserved this.”
She turned and said wearily, “Alright, just drive home and talk things out with him. He loves you. He won’t be able to let you go. You’ll have your own child one day. And if I hear anything about your mom, I’ll let you know.”
Teresa drove off in her car. Instead of heading straight back to Rosary Estates, she went to Hurizanlead Group.
Jonathan was in a meeting when his secretary came in and said Teresa was there. He raised an eyebrow and asked, “Who is it?”
“Mr. Lynn, It’s Teresa,” the secretary replied.

“Take her to my office and get her something to eat and drink,” Jonathan instructed.
“Yes, Mr. Lynn,” the secretary responded.
Jonathan sped up the meeting. He hadn’t expected Teresa to come looking for him, and he was both surprised and a little excited.

When Jonathan saw her sitting on the sofa, he walked over and said, “Why did you come to see me in person? If you needed something, couldn’t you just call?”
Teresa looked up at him. “I wanted to ask you something, and since I was passing by, I figured I’d stop in.”
“What is it?” Jonathan asked.
“Did you send someone to rough up Jennifer?” Teresa asked.
Jonathan frowned and sat down across from her. “Why would I do something so shady?”
Teresa let out a sigh of relief. “If it wasn’t you, then that’s good. Guess I was just being paranoid.”
“Jennifer got beaten up?” Jonathan asked.
“At first, I thought you might’ve sent someone after Jennifer in anger. Then I remembered you said you’d expose her to the media and ruin her name. Today, she was attacked by a group of strangers, so I wondered if it was you,” Teresa explained.
