Chapter 677
“This time, let me be the one to say sorry. Honestly, this is just a minor issue. Let’s just pretend none of this ever happened and go back to rest in were between us, please?”
Donald spun around, disbelief written all over his face. He snapped, “Are you seriously asking me to pretend nothing happened? How could yolet vard know damn well how good Jonathan has been to us.
“He was the only one willing to lend me money when I was at my lowest. Yet you keep violating medical ethics and betraying my family, without a dived of genuine remorse. And now you expect me to just wipe the slate clean?
“Is that really what you think? Have you always been this heartless and ungrateful? You’re clearly in the wrong”
Jennifer took a deep breath, then she tried to reason with him. She said, “Let’s look at it differently. You could say Jonathan wronged Teresa by divorcing
her.
“He owes her, and he owes our family. So when he offers these little favors, why shouldn’t we accept them without guilt? Doesn’t that make sense?
Donald staggered back a few steps. He thought, ‘Turns out, this is really what’s Son her mind. She is terrifying. She honestly has no idea what gratitude even means.’
All the impressions Donald had cherished of Jennifer–kind, soft–hearted–now felt like a cruel joke. With her raw honesty at this moment, she tore away the veil that had hidden her for so long.
Donald finally saw the real Jennifer–cold–blooded, indifferent, able to wound without a flicker of remorse. He had always told himself she was merely proud, merely stubborn with words.
He thought, ‘If she’d only said, ‘I’ll go to Jonathan and apologize,‘ I could have handled it.‘
He’d given her countless chances and waited for what felt like an eternity, but she said nothing. By then, Donald’s heart had already shattered beyond repair.
Donald said, “I’m going to confess everything you’ve done to Jonathan. For the sake of our marriage, I’ll face the consequences with you.
“But you’d better resign voluntarily–right now, you’re utterly unfit to be a doctor, let alone a gynecologist.”
“Donald,” Jennifer screamed in desperation. She clutched desperately at his leg as if it were her last lifeline. She pleaded, “Please, I’m begging you, don’t expose me. I can’t lose everything.
“I’ve clawed my way up from nothing to finally earn everyone’s respect. Do you have any idea how hard I’ve fought for this?”
Donald simply couldn’t accept seeing the proud Jennifer acting desperately before him. He felt it was utterly unlike her. In a fit of uncontrolled rage, he yanked her up from the floor and gripped her shoulders fiercely.
He bellowed, “What on earth do you want from me, Jennifer? Just because I’m patient, does that mean I don’t feel pressure or never get angry?
“My family is in turmoil–my parents are getting divorced. Do you have any idea how much stress I’ve been under lately? So why did you betray me? Why did you hurt my family?
“And why did you say nothing was going on wi
Gary, but still secretly meet him behind my back? Why, Jennifer? Every word out of your mouth is a lie.
“I’ve been waiting for an explanation, but all you do is dodge responsibility—don’t you realize that? Is that all you’re capable of–just shifting the blame?”
Jennifer’s face froze, her eyes wide and bloodshot with shock. It was the first time she’d seen Donald like this.
Donald’s eyes blazed wide, as if the mask of gentle temper had been ripped away, and every ounce of emotion he’d bottled up these past days came roaring out.

Donald’s grip was bone crushing, and Jennifer’s shoulders throbbed as if they might split apart.
Only when he released his grip did Jennifer finally blurt out a raw truth.
