Chapter 635
Gary offered, “Okay. Let me go with you. I can help smooth things over.”
Teresa declined, “No need. This is between Jonathan and me. I’d rather talk to him alone.”
“Alright then,” Gary nodded, respecting Teresa’s choice. “If you need anything, just give me a call,”
Teresa replied, “Okay, thanks.”
At Horizonlead Group, Jonathan wrapped up the last contract, checked his watch, and decided to leave work early to visit Teresa af Posary Estates.
With Jennifer present yesterday, Jonathan couldn’t confront Jennifer directly and had to back down. This morning, he checked his phone, hoping Teresa would have called or messaged him about how she was doing.
But there was none. He’d have to go see her himself. He just couldn’t stop worrying about her.
“Mr. Lynn.” Suddenly, his assistant hurried in and announced, “Christian is back!”
“Christian?”
“Yes, Mr. Lynn. It’s Christian.”
Jonathan said, “Let him in.”
Christian walked in and saw Jonathan standing before him, looking strikingly handsome and unmatched. His features hadn’t changed at all. After all, he’d only been gone for a little over half a year. Christian respectfully greeted Jonathan.
Jonathan hummed, motioning for him to take a seat and speak.
“Thank you, Mr. Lynn…” Christian said gratefully, explaining to Jonathan that he’d been through a lot lately. He left the company because both his parents had fallen ill, and he wanted to go back to take care of them.
Christian’s mother succumbed after multiple grueling rounds of chemotherapy. He had been feeling downcast, so Sherry took him out to help him get away for a while. Today, Christian had just returned to Nareigh.
Christian said to Jonathan, “Mr. Lynn, I’m here to resign today. I’ve been away from the company for so long that I know I’m not familiar with many of the business operations. Moreover, Mike-”
“You still remember Mike?” Jonathan scoffed. “You’ve abandoned your own son.”
Christian looked up in astonishment. Jonathan’s eyes were devoid of warmth, holding nothing but a silent reproach. “Mr. Lynn, you…” Christian stammered, wondering if Jonathan knew that Michael was his son.
Jonathan fixed his piercing gaze on Christian. “What?“/
Christian’s eyes darted away, sweat beading on his forehead. He nervously licked his parched lips and quickly gulped stammering, “Uh, it’s nothing. Mr. Lynn, if I may be/so bold, have you and Teresa reconciled yet?”
Jonathan propped a hand against his temple, fixing Christian with an icy stare. He arched a brow.

Christian wished he could bite off his tongue. He’d certainly asked the wrong question.
Jonathan said coldly, “So you came back this time just to resign and then take Mike away?”
“I…” Christian was suddenly at a loss for words. He wasn’t sure if he should tell Jonathan about Michael’s identity. “Well, I need to discuss this with

Mike’s mother first.”
Jonathan fell silent. Michael’s figure flashed through Jonathan’s mind. He had taken a taxi all the way to Jonathan’s company just to see him, wrying about him and feeling a pang of sorrow over his weight loss.
Every time Jonathan saw Michael, an indescribable warmth would fill his heart. “Hey, I never got around to asking you. Back when you left, you told me Mike wasn’t your kid. What did you mean by that?”
“What?” Christian scratched his head awkwardly, stalling for time. “Did I actually say that? I’ll need to go home and double check with Mike’s mom”
Jonathan demanded sharply, “What’s the matter with you, Christian? Don’t you even know if Mike is your own son?”
“Well… I…” Christian was on the verge of tears. He lowered his head and mumbled under his breath, “Am I supposed to know, or not?”
Jonathan’s phone rang. It was Teresa calling. He arched a brow, gazing down at Christian with a commanding air. Since Christian had decided to resign, Jonathan would approve his resignation request tomorrow. He had more pressing matters.
“Mr. Lynn…” Christian hesitated, his gaze fixed on Jonathan’s tall, imposing back as he watched him turn to leave.
Jonathan paused and glanced back. “Anything else?”
Christian sighed. “N–nothing.” He could only watch helplessly as Jonathan’s figure eventually vanished from sight.
The Maybach S680 cruised along the intersection of Riverbuss Road and Lavender Avenue. The light turned red. Ahead, a young couple, looking barely out of high school, walked arm–in–arm across the street.
Jonathan quietly watched the loving young couple, his mind suddenly drifting to Teresa at eighteen. She was bright–eyed and radiant, with the pure beauty of her youth. The corners of his thin lips curved in a faint smile, a flicker of tenderness in his eyes.
Teresa hadn’t left yet, though she’d already arranged to meet Jonathan at the community gate. Peering at her slightly rounded, five–month–pregnant belly, she first slipped into a pair of tight leggings, then put on a jacket.
For her lower half, she chose a high–waisted red pleated skirt, pulling it up to cover her waist. After checking herself in the mirror, she let out a small sigh. of relief. Her pregnancy was completely disguised.
She decided to come clean about Michael first, and then broke the news about her pregnancy. She was afraid that if she and Jonathan got into an argument, he might, in a fit of anger, tell her to get an abortion.
Taking a deep breath, Teresa stepped out of her apartment. Jonathan’s Maybach pulled up outside her residential complex.
Spotting the familiar Maybach, Teresa took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, and slowly walked toward Jonathan. Every step felt endless. She hadn’t slept well in days, and exhaustion weighed heavily on her.
No sooner had Teresa settled into the passenger seat than a vibrant bouquet of Diana roses was pressed into her arms.
Jonathan said, “Tenth anniversary.”
Teresa froze, puzzled as she met the teasing glint in Jonathan’s eyes.
“Today’s the sixth. A full ten years since we first met.”
Teresa blinked. “How could that be? I met you when I was 22, then we had that whirlwind marriage. Even counting up to today, it’s barely been six years.”
Jonathan shot Teresa a teasing look. “Think again. Are you sure we met when you were 22?”
Teresa thought for a moment. If she remembered right, it was at Benny’s party where they first met. If Benny hadn’t set them up, she wouldn’t have even known Jonathan, let alone married him.

The first time they met, Jonathan asked for her number on WhatsApp and kept messaging her wed building. Eventually, she ended up marrying him.
“Are you getting senile or something?” Teresa teased. “Or maybe you’re mixing me up with someone due. That ten year Sing woman, not me.”
‘Maybe he meant Yvonne, the one who passed away. He’s known her for ten years, hasn’t her Teress thought italy
Seeing a flicker of annoyance cross Teresa’s face, Jonathan smirked instead. “What if I’m right? Care to make a be
Teresa challenged, “What are we betting on?”
Jonathan teased, “If I’m not mistaken, you’ll have to remarry me.”
Teresa fell silent.
Jonathan smirked, lips curling playfully. “Dare to take that bet?”
“You’re on!” Teresa shot back. “But when you lose, you owe me one favor.”
Jonathan sat up straight, his deep and magnetic voice resonating. “As long as you’re not asking me to shoot down the sun or place the moon from the sky, anything else you want, it’s yours.”
“Deal,” Teresa said firmly.
