Chapter 595
Cathy found a secluded spot and cried for a long time. ‘I really don’t know what to do, she thought. The man I’ve shared a bed with for so many years is nothing but complete fraud.
‘If only I could go back to when I knew nothing at all, just stay a fool in ignorant bliss. Maybe then, life would have gone on peacefully? But she know that there was no going back now.
Even if divorcing at nearly fifty would make her a laughingstock, Cathy was determined to go through with it. Even though Catherine and Cecilia tried to talk her out of it, she knew she simply couldn’t go on living like this anymore.
She couldn’t bring herself to call Werner. ‘What good would it do to call him and ask who he transferred all the assets to?‘ Cathy thought bitterly. ‘He’d never admit it anyway.‘
Cathy once again sought out her lawyer William. All she could do was sob at him, pleading, “How can I protect my full legal rights?
“My husband withdrew all the retirement savings I worked so hard for, without even telling me. What on earth should I do?
“Will I really walk away with nothing if we get divorced now? But I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong.”
William said, “Mrs. Lynn, please try not to panic. First, check if your husband has sold or transferred any property under his name without your knowledge. Then, gather evidence of his infidelity and any asset transfers as soon as possible.
“As long as he doesn’t have any illegitimate children, you and your children will remain the main beneficiaries in the divorce settlement.”
Cathy wiped away her tears and declared firmly, “Alright, I will.”
The next morning, Cheryl returned to Nareigh. Donald had asked her to come home. She took Serena straight to Teresa’s place.
Teresa said, “I’m not responsible for looking after your daughter. I’m not even your real sister–in–law. At best, I’m just your cousin’s wife. Your sister–in–law is Jennifer. Go ask her instead.”
“Teresa, don’t even mention her. I swear, I can’t stand Jennifer,” Cheryl raised her hand in mock oath. “In my heart, you’ve always been my only sister–in-
law.”
Teresa looked at Cheryl’s utterly innocent face and thought, ‘She probably still has no idea what her father, Werner, has been up to.‘
Teresa naturally wouldn’t volunteer this information to Cheryl; she simply gave her a knowing look.
Cheryl batted her big, innocent eyes. “Teresa, I’m counting on you to take care of Serena. You’re the best! My most beautiful, generous, sexy, drop–dead gorgeous sister–in–law.”
Teresa smirked. “Alright, stop buttering me up.”
Cheryl pouted in protest, “I’m being totally honest, okay? You’re literally the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen.”
Teresa had no patience for Cheryl’s sweet talk and urged her to go home quickly, just in case there was a real emergency at home.
Cheryl asked, “Teresa, can I borrow your car to drive home?”
“No way.”
“Relax, I’ve got my driver’s license now.”
Teresa still refused. She just didn’t feel comfortable letting Cheryl drive her car, and more importantly, if Jennifer saw Cheryl behind the wheel, she’d never hear the end of it.

Chapter 595
“Oh, fine, ugh… I can’t believe my dad! He promised to get me a car, but who knows if he’s actually ordered it yet?”
“I’ll get you a cab,” Teresa said, steering the conversation away.
“Thanks, Teresa!” Before leaving, Cheryl kissed Serena on the cheek, then tried to kiss Teresa too, only to be pushed away as Teresa feigned annoyance.
Cheryl was so carefree, Teresa thought. ‘I wonder if Cathy will actually divorce Werner.‘
When she was just a child, she lived through her parents‘ divorce, Philip cheated, and she witnessed all their arguments.
Teresa wondered, ‘Does a divorce hurt a child more when they’re young, or is it even harder when they’re already an adult? Honestly, I have no idea.
‘One thing is certain. An unhappy marriage brings nothing but pain to everyone in the family!
