292.Chapter 292

292.Chapter 292

Cheryl had fallen asleep in Benny’s car, and when they arrived at the shop where she was staying, Benny gently called her name to wake her

He found himself staring at her profile, and for some reason, he felt a strange flutter in his chest. Almost without thinking, he reached out, his fingertips brushing her cheek

Cheryl rubbed her eyes as she woke up and glanced out the window. Are we there?”

Benny quickly pulled his hand back, frowning to himself. He thought, What was I even doing? There is at least a fiveyear age gap between us.‘

He snapped back to reality. We are. When you get out, make sure to check for cars, okay? Stay safe.”

Thanks for the ride,” Cheryl said softly

Seeing she was dressed so lightly, Benny grabbed his jacket from the back of the seat. Put this on. If you catch a cold, your brother’s going to blame me for not taking care of you. Just give it back next time we meet.”

Okay.Since her place was a bit of a walk inside the complex, Cheryl slipped on Bennys jacket and headed off

Benny drove away

Donald and Jennifer were giving each other the cold shoulder, all because of that dinner at the Lynn residence

Jennifer kept complaining about Irene, blaming Donald for not sticking up for her, and even saying he shouldn’t have taken her to dinner in the first place. That just made Donald mad too

Donald couldn’t yell at his aunt. At family dinners, nine times out of ten, Jonathan was the one paying. Donald just couldn’t say anything to Irene

Jonathan had no idea that dinner turned into such a mess. He wasn’t therehe was in Everport. He knew Jennifer would be there and didn’t want things to get awkward, so he just skipped it

He checked in with Donald, asking how dinner went. Donald didn’t want Jonathan to worry, so he texted: [It was all good. Grandpa was there, and everyone got along.

Jonathan thought, Yeah, with Grandpa around, dinner probably went fine.‘

Donald: [When you and Teresa fight, do you ever apologize first?] Jonathan: [There’s nothing wrong Successfully unlocked! sorry first.

Donald: [So every time you guys fight, you’re the one to give in?

Jonathan: [Wait, did you two have a fight? What happened?

Donald: [Nah, just asking. I won’t bother you while you’re busy out of town. Take care.

Jonathan: [Just say sorry and move on. Don’t sulk. Take it from someone who’s been there.

After that, Jonathan didn’t reply anymore

Cathy also sent Donald a message. When he saw it, he frowned and freed up a hand to reply. Then he slipped his phone into his pocket and headed for the hospital

Jennifer was working at the hospital, but she couldn’t focus. Donald’s words kept ringing in her ears

He had said he was tired and feeling down. He wanted them to take a break for a bit, and after that, they hadn’t spoken for more than two days

Jennifer was distracted at work, but luckily, she was just seeing patients and not in surgery. Spacing out in the OR would be a big mistake for any doctor

Even during meetings, she kept checking her phone over and over, hoping to get a message from Donald. The department head called her out several times, which only made her more annoyed with herself

Back in the break room, she paced back and forth, sometimes biting her fingersa nervous habit she hadn’t done in ages, not since she was a kid

Now she had a highstatus job and a boyfriend who loved her. She shouldn’t have anything to worry about or feel insecure

She had been through a lot. And yet, she was all worked up over a guy. She cared about him, kept thinking about him, and even started to wonder if she said too much

She thought, Should I just say sorry? What if he breaks up with me? I have given him everything. Why was he still so cold, not even sending me one message?‘

She typed out: [Are you mad at me? Was I too harsh?] But then she deleted it all in frustration before she could send

She thought, Why should I be the one to say sorry? Donald was the one who chased me. I stay in Nareigh for him. Otherwise, I would’ve gone to Shaville ages ago.‘
