Letting out a small sigh of relief, Teresa cleared her throat and said, “You must be tired too. Go to bed early. I’m going to sleep now
Jonathan fumed to see her sprawled out across the bed, taking up every inch of space. He frowned slightly. “Save me some room, or are you expecting me to sleep on top of you?”
“How about you take the couch? Or better yet, book another room and let me haveske bed,” she said.
Teresa was already half asleep when Jonathan’s teasing voice cut through, “Then I just sleep on you–problem solved”
Her eyes flew open, full of alarm. “And then you’ll make me wake up at eight tomorrow? How am I supposed to get any sleep tonight?”
“Eight o’clock appointment means waking up at six thirty,” he corrected
“You might as well kill me. I can’t wake up that early” Terena groaned. Mornings were her mortal enemy, and this was exactly why she avoided early meetings at work.
Dragging herself out of bed was hard enough, and then there was the whole ordeal of makeup and getting ready–it all took
forever
“Just sleep. I won’t try anything. I promise. Jonathan reassured her, still focused on organizing their luggage. His neat- freak tendencies meant he couldn’t rest until everything was perfectly in place.
Teresa, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. As long as there was a bed, she could sleep anywhere.
Once Teresa was sound asleep, Jonathan gently pulled her into his arms, his gaze softening as he held her close
After a restful night, Jonathan was up by six the next morning, while Teresa dragged herself out of bed at seven, grumbling. “Ugh, even on weekends, I can’t sleep in.”
“Come on, we’re gonna be late Jonathan called out, his tone calm but urging.
Still half–asleep, Teresa shuffled around until she pulled back the curtains. The moment her eyes landed on the endless expanse of the ocean outside, her sleepiness disappeared in a flash.

The sunlight sparkled on the waves, making the view absolutely stunning. Drawn by the beauty, Teresa stepped out onto the balcony, taking a deep breath of the fresh, salty air. The crispness of it cleared her mind, leaving her feeling refreshed and awake.
Teresa was scrolling through Facebook on the way to the traditional medicine clinic when she came across a post from Donald.
Donald had posted it late last night, around 11 PM The picture showed a chocolate birthday cake with roses beside it, along with the caption: [The happiest birthday ever. Perfect.]
Teresa was stunned for a moment
Cheryl had commented below: [Finally happy, my dear brother]
Teresa fell into deep thought. It was indeed Donald’s birthday yesterday, but what exactly had happened last night? Teresa showed the past to Jonathan, who glanced at it and asked, “What’s the big deal?”
“Jennifer didn’t come home last night, Teresa explained. “She said she was staying at the hospital. And now Donald posts this does it mean he and Jennifer have already made progress?”
Jonathan raised an eyebrow. “Looks like Donald’s moving fast.”
Teresa shook her head. “No way. I know Jennifer too well. She’s the slow–burn type. There’s no chance she and Donald could’ve moved this fast.”
Curious and unable to let it go, Teresa tried calling Cheryl to find out what had happened, but there was no reply Teresa glanced at the time. It was only 7:30 AM. Who wakes up this early, seriously? she muttered to herself
But the suspense was killing her. She couldn’t just ask Jennifer. She knew Jennifer wouldn’t spill anything All Teresa wanted now was to figure out what had gone down last night
By then, Jonathan had already driven them to the traditional medicine clinic. A long line had formed at the entrance, with at least thirty people ahead of them.
