Lotus POV
“That’s not the way home,” I say after a bit, he didn’t take me home,

“We’re not going home,” he says without glancing at me.
“Why not?” I ask him, confused why he’s not taking me home.
“You look like shit,” he says in brutal honestly.
“Wow, thank you wolf, how nice of you,” I say with an eye roll.
“I’m being nice, for your mother, Flower,” he says.
“What does my mother have to do with it?” I ask him.
“She’s my mate, you’re her daughter.” he says as that makes sense.
“That doesn’t add up wolf,” I say frustrated with him and his whole species of beast.
“To make Viki happy, I have to keep you flower watered and not crying,” he says and I laughed, it was so ridiculous, so I laughed.
“You’re awful, you’re not even trying to hide it,” I say with a laugh.
“Didn’t we agree on/being honest with each other,” he reminds me, and I nod, I did promise him so.
“Fine, where are you taking me then? To the lake to get rid of me? I
ask him.
“Nah, it wouldn’t work with your mother, I’m taking you somewhere where we could talk,” he says.
“Talk? You’re not my dad.” I say angrily.
“I’m your stepfather technically, another wolf, your sponsor, and I outrank you,” he says with last word with a smile on his face.
“You can talk. I don’t want to talk,” I answer him, he took us toward what looks like a small coffee shop, he offered to buy me anything I want, and I asked for coffee, caramel coffee, with a drizzle of chocolate.
We got our drinks and took a seat, I decided not to talk, just enjoy my drink, and calm down, he didn’t talk at first, he was just looking at me keeping quiet.
“When you’re ready, I’ll listen,” he says.
“I’m not going to tell you anything,” I say with an
eye roll.
“You’re clearly having a hard time in school, I was there once, why don’t you ask me, so I’d teach you how to stand up for yourself,” he offers.
“Right, because you love my mom and don’t want her to be sad,” I say, that’s his logic.
“Yes, and you’re not too bad Flower, why not help you, I never liked bullying, and I don’t bully others,” he promises me.

“I don’t want to tell you, I don’t trust you,” I say honestly.
“I know, how about I talk and you listen? Really listen and not just slip into your dream world,” he says and I thought about it, listening for mom’s sake.
“Only because we both love mom.” I say and he chuckles, nodding his head.
“So Flower, when you’re a wolf, you belong to a pack, and it goes around in ranks, you have a General, Colonel, Major, Captain. Lieutenant…” he says, giving me a quick rundown of the ranks of the
army.
“Okay, but that doesn’t make sense to how it’ll help me yet.” I say
“Wait. Flower, be patient,” he says in a firm voice and I groaned.
“Fine, keep going.” I say with a whine.
“It’s the same for us in the pack, we have our alpha who’s the strongest wolf around, the alpha got his beta, and then delta, and the rank goes down, from stronger to weaker which we
underneath him are expected to keep the omega safe,” he says, meaning the strongest take care of the weakest.

“That’s nice and all, but I’m not a wolf and I don’t have a pack,” I say, me and mom used to be a pack, but we’re not anymore, and she can’t help me in school, I can’t imagine her coming to school to help me, she’ll just end up causing me embarrassment.
“Ahhh but that’s where you’re wrong, Flower,” he says with a big smile on his face.
Talk
“How am I wrong?” I ask him, feeling stupid for entertaining him and his stupid chat.
“You go to a school filled with wolves Flower. they follow the wolf law,” he says.
“So what am I supposed to do then? Take you along with me to school?” I ask him with a raised brow
“Oh no Flower, I’m too old for school, but you have some of my pack in school with you, I know one of them have been keeping an eye on you,” he says and my eyes went wild.
“What do you mean? Whom?” I ask him.
“Owen, he’s part of my pack, and he promised to keep an eye on you,” Levent says.
“So that’s why he’s been nice to me?” I ask confused. I thought he was just a nice person.
“Yes, because pack members stand together,” Levent says proudly
“Okay,” I say, feeling kind of disappointed I thought Owen was being nice to be nice, not just because I’m part of some pack while I’m not.
“Hey, Owen is a good teacher, he would have saved you anyway.” Levent says.
“Did he tell you?” I ask him, was he telling him about my last two days in school?
“Yes, he told our beta, and the beta told me,” Levent says.
“Why would he tell the beta?” I ask, still confused.
“You see, you’re part of my family which means you’re part of my pack, and since you belong to the pack, the beta’s job is to listen and hear about all troubles that might happen with a new member of the pack,” Levent says.
“And then what? The beta would yell at the ones who bullied me?” I ask him, not sure how to feel about any of it, am I happy that there’s someone to defend me or am I angry at him.
“The ones who belong to our pack will get yelled at for bullying, but the ones who belong to other packs, we have no control over them, so the ones who belong to our pack have the responsibility to keep you safe,” he says.
“So I’m getting a school babysitter? They’re the ones who tried to hurt me, why would they keep me safe?” I ask Levent.
“Because you’re part of the pack,” he says like it makes total sense.
“But I’m not.” I refuse.
“You are, you’re Victoria’s daughter, who’s my mate, which finally makes you part of my pack,” he says, explaining his logic for me.
“Right, right, that makes so much sense.” I say with another eye roll,
“You love rolling your eyes,” he says with a chuckle.
“So is this why you brought me here?” I ask him.
“Well, I wanted you to talk, how bad is the bullying, are you hurt physically?” he asks me.
“A tiny bit,” I answer him.
“That’s not acceptable,” he growls.
“Are you gonna go cat them?” I say with a fake evil smile, making him. laugh.
“I can’t eat them sadly, but all I could do it talk to their betas, who in turn would yell at them for bullying you,” Levent explains to me.
“It’s like telling their parents to stop bullying me, that’s not a thing I want,” I say feeling hurt.
“You’re talking with human pride, but we’re wolves,” he says and I shook my head at him.
“Can we leave now?” I ask him. I was done with
my
drink.
“No, I’m going to talk to my beta, and he’ll have a talk with them, and you’re gonna start taking some self–defense classes,” he says a matter of fact.
“I’m not going to,” I object just as firmly.
“Your mother is going, and I want you to be there instead.
“You can’t use my mother as an excuse.” I object.
” her.” he says
“I’m not using her as an excuse, you could use the self–defense classes to help you out.” he says.
“Really wolf?” I say, raising a brow at him, challenging him.
“Yes, really, go with your mother, keep an eye on her and help her,” he
“Why don’t you go with her then?” I ask him.
12 Woche
“Ifl go.
she won’t really hit me, she would be holding back, and refusing to actually learn, if you go along, she’d want to keep you safe and would learn well,” he says, which did makes sense.
“Fine. I’ll go for mom, now let’s go,” I say getting up, wanting to leave.
“Let’s go.” he agrees getting up, we got in the car and he drove us home this time, he parked, we got out, got in the elevator, but instead of clicking our floor number, he clicked a different one.
“Where are we going now?” I groaned.
“I want you to meet someone,” he says, and goes ahead, knocking on the door, a woman opened the door, she was as tall as Levent, with brown hair and green eyes.
“Beta,” Levent says bowing his head down to her.
“Your beta is a woman.” I ask confused.
“Why are you confused, women can be alpha, betas, and enforcers,” the lady says with a smile on her face, letting us in.
“I didn’t know wolves could be cool like that,” I say with am small smile on my face.
“Take a seat, what do I call you? Levent likes calling you Flower, but is that your real name or just a nickname?” she asks me.
“Nickname, that I don’t approve of, I’m Lotus,” I say, introducing myself.
“I’m Emmaline, the pack Beta, I’m the second in command, it’s my job
to take care of everyone in my pack, and if things are too serious I’ll inform the alpha and we’d find solution together, I’m sure Levent explained everything to you already,” she says with a smile.
“No, he didn’t.” I say with a shrug.
“Shame on you Levent,” she scold him and turn back to me.
“It’s very normal for kids to be mean, they are creatures that are controlled by their hormones,” she says with an eye roll which made me laugh. I liked this wolf, why couldn’t mom be her mate.
“They threatened to eat me alive, kill me and bury me, called ma chew toy.” I say telling her things that I haven’t told the wolf.
“I’ll talk to them,” The Beta says.
“Right, so they could bully me some more for telling you,” I groaned.
“They won’t,” Beta says but we both knew they would.
“You just called them hormone monsters,” I say.
“She’s right, beta.” Wolf says.
“For once the wolf speaks the truth.” I say pointing at him.
“Wolf?” she asks.
“Nickname,” Levent answers.
“How about, you make a friend? Someone who’s strong enough to keep you safe,” she says.
“A babysitter,” I groaned.
“Actually I was thinking of someone who’d in desperate need for a friend, her only friend moved away to live with his mate’s family.” Beta
says.
“Who are we talking about?” I ask her, it wasn’t me clearly
“My daughter. Nutmeg.” she says.
“What’s this a play date? Did he plan this?” I ask them.
“No, it’s just a thing I just thought of, and you both need a friend, why not each other?” Beta asks.
“I don’t like having my friends appointed to me!” I groan.
“No one likes that, but it’s my job to help the pack, and Nutmeg needs help,” she says.
“You’re only doing this for her?” I ask, if it’s just for her, it won’t make me feel too bad to think this is just for the other girl and not me.
“Yes. for her, why don’t you go say hello to her?” she asks me.
“She’s here?” I ask.
“Her room is that one, go say hello, she comes right home after school, I don’t like it for her, she needs more sun,” Beta says.
“Fine. I’ll go, but just for you,” I say, reminding them that I’m not doing this for me, but for that girl.
