“I’m requesting asylum,” I tell the beta as soon as she opens the door for me.
“What happened?” she asks me, ushering me inside.

“What about Betas?” I ask her with a raised brow.
“We’re the sweetest, you know that already, you want Meg or you here to talk to me?” she asks me.
“Is she around? If you don’t mind,” I say blushing, I don’t want her to feel used that I just come in to talk to her when I need help.
“She’s inside, I’m a beta Lotus, it’s my job to be there for you,” she assures me it’s fine but it doesn’t feel fine yet.
“Shouldn’t I be talking to River?” I ask her, he’s a new guy who moved in after uncle came in, he’s his Beta from his pack, the blue thorn pack, he came here to help him win me over, we’re not dating, we’re not courting, we’re just mated by name and he’s trying to win my love.

“Lotus! Is that you?” Nutmeg calls from her room, we’ve became friends on the first day I came here, my stepdad threw me in as did her mother saying she has been depressed for a couple days now since her old BFF moved out with their mate, she needed a new one, and she happens to adopt me.
“Yeah, coming,” I say moving toward her room, Nutmge is a year older than me, and she’s getting ready to join the military academy next year.

“Are you mad at your mate again?” she asks me giggling, you steal your mate’s car once, along with his money and she’d never let it go, every time she sees me, she’d be giggling at it.
“Yes, he’s a bitch,” I groan, only me can talk like that about him, but anyone else, I’d kill them.

“I know, so how’s your application going? Would they even reject you?” I say, it’s impossible for them to do so.
“It’s going well, it’s not being rejected, it’s the fact that I want to go to college after that, so I need my applications to be perfect,” she answers me, explaining why she’s doing all of this.
“Oh, that’s cool, I wish me and Rosie can go there with you,” I say, we’re both younger than her.
“You can do that, if you want,” she says with a shrug, we can skip the last year and just join her, but I too want to go to college and not be a high school dropout.
“Yeah,” I agree with her.
“So what did he really do this time?” she asks me.
“I’m just having a bad day and he made it worse,” I confess.
“When I have bad days I’ll demand cuddles, not fights, maybe try those?” she suggests.
“I like cuddles but not when I’m angry,” I say, I’ve been getting clingier and clingier lately, I don’t feel like letting him go all the time, and I just want to sit near him, next to him, touch him while sitting, I need the physical touch all the time.
