Lotus POV
I’m having a bad day, a terrible day actually, I wanted to cry, scream and die. I wanted death all of the sudden, I didn’t want anything else, I just wanted to be gone off this earth, I don’t feel well, I have a stupid stomach ache, my head hurt, and I’m just not feeling my best today. These are all pre–period pain, and annoyance, I should be used to them by now, used to deal with them, used to be a woman, well a girl, I’m not seventeen yet, but who’d counting.
To make things even worse, to go from a bad terrible day, where I want someone to kill me, I had a fight with my mate, oh yeah, I should mention that I’m mated to a wolf, not just any wolf, he’s my step uncle Damian, alpha Damian to his pack, training officer Damian to the students of the military academy where he teaches. And brother to my step–dad, mom’s mate, Levent but I prefer calling him wolf, it’s an ongoing nickname between the two of us, he pretends to be annoyed at it, but he loves it, it makes him feel extra special and seeing how much I didn’t like him when things started between him and mom, having a special nickname from me was a big win for him.
In his face, I still don’t like him, but truth be told, I like this bastard, he’s funny, treats mom well, and the financial side of our life has become a million times better since he and mom got together, which means less stress for mom, no more working two or three jobs at a time to be able to pay rent. Since wolves are in charge, they’ve been in charge for hundred of years already now, but since they took over, they ended the hunger, the wars, the global warming, they had to take over all the important jobs as well, which only left scraps for the human and made it hard for us to keep up with them. But for most of the lucky humans, they either scored a good job, or mated a wolf, like my mom

did, she did it when she was older though, and already had me, but it’s all fine now, as long as she’s happy.
Back to me, I’m mated to a wolf just like my mother, which makes me one of the lucky ones, but I’m also terrified of wolves, I don’t like them, I’m scared of them, but we’re working on my fear, one step at a time. And today happens to be one of my bad days, I was pissed and furious with the whole world and then Damian said something smart and I got so mad at him I started crying.
Of course, he tried to make things better which only made them worse, and one thing led to another and I’m hiding in my room, now that’s you’re all up to speed, let’s start this damn story, get your coffee and popcorn, I’m going to kill this wolf mate of mine.
“Lotus, come on precious flower, just open the door,” Damian says through the door.
“Go to hell,” I answer him and go back to hiding under my blanket.
“Why are you doing this baby, it’s not worth it,” he says which only pissed me off some more, I groaned and screamed into my pillow, I’m so frustrated and all he got to say it’s not worth it?
“Go away, you creepy uncle,” I say, there is no blood connection between the two of us, he’s my step–uncle, but teasing him makes everything better.
“Baby,” he says and I went back to crying, waiting for him to leave me finally, another fifteen minutes and he’s finally gone, it was safe for me to get out of my room, I/slipped out of the house, we live in an apartment, and on the floor beneath us, lives my best friend, Nutmeg. Her mother happens to be the beta of the Snow pack that my mother, and her husband belong to, and she’s a nice person to talk to.
