Moving in.
Lotus POV
I hate my mom. not really, but she’s not my favorite person right now, I kind of want to smack some sense into her, maybe smack her head with a hammer so she’d see straight. Instead, here I am, putting my clothes and everything I own into a box, note that it’s a small box, I don’t own much.
“Are you done?” Mom asks, she was singing and dancing around the house, she was so happy about moving in, the wedding, and everything else to come.
“No,” I say in a cold voice, I’m mad at her, I wasn’t smiling or showing her any happiness.
“Then speed it up,” she says in a firm voice and keeps going, she had all of her stuff packed, she’s only taking some of her clothes along with her, she’s donating all of our furniture and kitchenware.
“Did the charity agree to take any of them?” I’asked her, when she announced that she’s going to donate instead of throw in the trash.
“They said they’re going to look them through,” she says.
By the end of the day, I couldn’t procrastinate anymore, I didn’t have anything left to pack, I made them last so long, but I was done, I followed her through the house, saying goodbye to every inch of our place. Tonight we’re sleeping in our own home, and tomorrow morning mom is going to wear her new white dress, get all dolled up and meet
him in the courthouse where they’d get married by the human laws
I refused to buy a new dress, refused to go even, but she begged me, and I couldn’t say no to her puppy eyes, she picked a pink dress for me, it falls right above my knees, it’s a pretty dress, an expensive one, I would’ve loved it, but it’s the occasion I’m against.
“It’s going to be okay baby,” Mom assures me.
“It’s not,” I answer her.
“Why not? You didn’t give Levent a chance, I swear he’s a nice guy,” she assures me.
“Right cause he’s a good man, Savannah,” I say with an eye roll.
“Who’s Savannah?” Mom asks me.
“It’s a meme mother, just get some sleep, you don’t want to look tired during your wedding.” I say, frustrated with her.
“I’ll be fine,” she assures me, I couldn’t sleep that night, I flipped and moved the whole night, what’s going to happen to us? To me?
“Lotus, it’s time to get up, baby,” Mom says, shaking me awake, was it all a bad dream, I’m still home with my mother, and there’s no wolf who’s trying to get between us.
“Mom,” I say with a smile on my face, but then I saw her wearing the white dress, my smile faded, and I got up without saying any word to her.
I went to the bathroom, washed my face twice, fixed my hair, put it all up, and left only my bangs down, I put on whatever make up mom has

left outside, it’s the same ones she used, sadly the foundation is too dark for me, so I had to skip it, only using the tiniest bit of concealer. some setting powder, mascara, and finally a bit of her lip–gloss, that
was it.
“Put your dress on baby, he’s almost here,” she says.
“Isn’t it bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding?” I
ask her.
“It’s not a wedding, it’s just a courthouse marriage.” she says, right because there is no party afterward.
“Whatever you say,” I say with another eye roll, I’m not this rude to her usually, but today is a bad day for me.
I put on the dress, and look around the house one last time, this used to be my house my whole life, this was my place, and now I’m going to leave it behind. I’m going to move into god knows where.
Levent picked us up, it’s the first time I see his car, he got a black car, darkened windows and the army logo stamped on the windowsill, and the license plate, he opened the door for mom, helped her get in, put on her seatbelt for her, he then ran back to the house, picked our stuff and threw them in the back of his car, it took him two trips to take everything we owned.
“Aren’t you coming in, Flower?” Levent asks me.
“It’s Lotus,” I say with a giant pout.
“In?” he repeats, opening the back door for me this time.
“Fine,” I groan and get in, he closed the door for me, and ran to get in

the driver seat, he drove us out of our poor neighborhood, we passed by all the places I knew, the grocery store, the park, the corner where they sold drug.
“I know you’re gonna miss it Lotus, but you’re gonna like our new home.” Mom promises me again.
“She won’t miss this dump,” Levent says and I glared at him from behind, I hoped his head would explode from my imaginary laser eyes.
“We called it home for years Levent, don’t be so cruel, see that drug dealer, he helps in the church on Sundays.” Mom says, and I wished to make her head explode as well, that wasn’t a nice thing to mention.
“Right, of course, love,” Levent says to my mother with a small smile, he didn’t care that she scolded him in front of me.
The drive was a long one, we left the whole neighborhood and even town I’m used to, we went downtown to the courthouse first, they got out and waited for me to join. I decided that I better follow them, and listen to what kind of vows they share or if mom decided to give me up and sell me for the wolves.
“We’re here to get married,” Levent says, looking for our judge, and
our room.
“This way,” he says, taking lead, we weren’t the only ones getting married we had to wait for our turn, I saw happy couples and even happier families, but not me.
“Victoria Green and Lieutenant Levent Savage,” the judge says, calling

“We’re here to join these two beloved together, Victoria Green a Human, and Lieutenant Levent Savage a wolf,” the judge says, announcing their species, before he continued, giving a brief talk about- marriage and how holy it was, and about the immortal bond between wolf and soulmate.
“Do you Victoria take him as your mate, husband, and lover?” the judge asks mom.
“I do.” Mom answers him.
“Do you Levent take her to be your mate, wife, and beloved?” the judge asks him next.
“I do.” Levent says.
“Now I pronounce…” the judge says but I stopped him.
“Wait, I object,” I say loudly.
“Object?” the judge asks me.
“She’s the daughter,” Levent says pointing to mom and me.
“Yes, shouldn’t you ask if anyone objects?” I remind him.
noted thank you,” the judge says “Well, I see, we usually don’t ask but noted thank you,” the judge says writing it down and then goes back to announcing them as husband and wife, ignoring my objection.
“You may kiss your bride,” the judge says, they kissed right in front of me, before all three of us walked out of the courthouse with a certification of marriage in their hands. Back in the car we went, starting the drive again this time to my new home, he mentioned living in a compound and having everything in it, I had heard about these

kinds of living spaces before, but I’d never been into one.
The gates had locks, a password to enter and guards on the door, Levent entered the code, said hello to the guards, introduced his mate and her daughter, and finally drove us inside, the big metal doors were closed behind us, locking us inside. The place looked like a very fancy neighborhood, there was no drug dealers who helped in the church on the corner, nor a small small corner store that had all kind of contraband candy.
“This is just the entrance, we live well within,” Levent assured me as if this part of the compound was the cheap part, where the poor lived.
He drove for another thirty minutes, I noticed everything was surrounded by trees and greens, the shops, the roads, it’s like they have built a small community in the middle of the woods, he pointed out the high school that I’ll be attending, and then the army base where he’d be serving, he also pointed all the places mom could be shopping in.
“We’re poor we don’t do shopping,” I say a scoff from behind them.
“My money is her money, she can shop all she wants, I’m going to spoil her,” Levent answers without looking at me.
“You don’t have to love, you did so much,” Mom says her cheeks turning red with excitement, she wanted to be spoiled she was so excited to go shopping, I could see it in her eyes.
“And this is where we’ll be staying, I got upgraded to a condo, maybe next update would be to a house of our own,” Levent says, parking in front of one hell of a fancy building, where was that guy raised? A ten- million–dollar mansion?
“What floor are we on?” I ask him.
but
“The fifth, not too high, you don’t have to worry,” he assures me. it’s not me he gotta worry about, it’s his ass getting pushed off that he should be thinking of
“Honey, with the looks she’s giving you, you better watch your back.” Mom says chuckling, and I nod, she’s right, he better watch it!
“Come on, let’s go in,” he says with a sigh, he opens the trunk and picks up our stuff, I offer to help, holding up my things.
Inside the building, we were met by a doorman who asked for our names and identification numbers, Levent explained who we are, and that we were the new residents of the fifth floor.
“Wait, wait,” Levent says as he opened the door, he let everything go and turned to mom, he picked her up and walked her inside the new home, I was left behind, I didn’t need to be picked or carried. I took a look around the corridor, there’s more than just our place here, the building is at least ten floor high, it’s all well kept and clean.
Next to the door was a name tag, ‘Lieutenant Levent Savage‘, that guy was so full of himself, I sighed and walked in, closing the door behind me. I didn’t know which room would be mine, that if he was generous enough to give me a room and doesn’t force me to sleep in the kitchen.
I went toward what looked like a living room, it had sofas that looked brand new, high windows that allowed the sun in, and would be the perfect spot to throw Levent out from, I then turned out of that room and moved toward the sparkling clean white kitchen, just give mom an hour in here, she’d have every cabinet marked with pasta sauce.
“Don’t you want to see your room, Flower?” Levent called after me,

with a groan I followed his voice, I don’t approve of the new nickname but I wanted to see the room.
“Your mom picked this one for you.” he says and I turned to her.
“You’ve been here before?” I asked her, and she didn’t mention it to me? How long have they been planning this marriage and why was the last one to know.
“In the pictures baby, in the pictures, but this looks way better than the pictures,” she says smiling, the room had a big window with a window seat, mom loves to joke and say that I’m a real flower who needs the sunlight, even if I don’t pick a color.
“Fine,” I say, trying to sound angry, but I loved the room, it had soft colors, and the bed was set in the corner, giving me a lot of space to move in the room.
“Get yourself settled, we’ll leave you to it,” Mom says leaving the room, closing the door behind her, taking Levent by his hands and running off to god knows where, I didn’t want to think or imagine them together.
