Shock.
Damian POV
I think she’s in shock, I’m pretty sure she’s in shock, she’s acting on autopilot, only answering my questions, cating her ice cream while she’s lost in her head, I tried talking to her, but she’d just nod and answer shortly.
“A penny for your thoughts,” I say.
“They are more expensive than that,” she answers right away.
“So you are listening to me,” I say with a smile.
“I’m not deaf, I choose to ignore you,” she answers me.
“Why so? If we don’t talk, we can’t figure this up, and I want to figure this up.” I say trying to get her to talk to me.
“I’m not ready to talk yet.” she answers me and I decided to stay quiet.
“You wanted to know about me being an alpha?” I ask her, that was a piece of new information for her, other than the fact that I’m her mate.
“Yeah, what’s up with that?” she asks me.
“I grew up in the snow pack, but mom used to visit her old pack, I go attached, I have uncles there, I spent time with them, and when I was trying to find my place in the pack, I belonged more to the blue thorn, as their alpha,” I say with a smile on my face.
“So if you’re the alpha, how are you here?” she asks me.
“River my beta is in charge in my absence,” I answer her, all packs can keep on working and functioning even with the alpha and beta absent unless if there are major problems, they could survive without us.
“Don’t you have to go back?” she asks me next.
“Back? To the compound and academy?” I ask her, does she want to go back home, maybe talk to her mother to help her with everything.
“No, I mean your pack, when are you leaving?” she asks me.
“Whenever you’re ready to go back with me,” I say honestly, I’ll never be without her, not after finally finding her.
“I’m not going with you,” she objects quickly.
“I won’t leave without you pretty flower, you’re my mate, I won’t be able to survive without you,” I say honestly.
“I don’t want a mate though,” she says.
“Don’t look at me like one then, count me as a boyfriend,” I say, turning it into a more human–friendly wording.
“I don’t want to date, mom says I’m too
young,” she says making me
chuckle.
“I’ll wait.” I assure her
“I still don’t want you,” she says.
“You’ve been okay with my presence in your life for weeks now,” I say, she liked me, and she enjoyed spending time with me as did I.
“It’s different,” she argues.
“All I’m asking for Lotus, is a chance,” I say, I wasn’t above begging when it comes to my special flower.
“And if I say no?” she asks me again.
“You know what would happen, if you push me away, if you really stop seeing me, stop spending time with me, then you’d get the fever again and this time you won’t be able to survive it,” I say, not meaning to scare her, just telling her the truth.
“That’s cold,” she says her eyes filled with tears.
“Life isn’t fair Lotus, it’s hard and cold, but we gotta survive it, and that includes getting used to each other,” I say, but what I meant to say, I can’t survive without you.
“I wanna go home.” she says and I couldn’t object, that’s her thing.
“You’re done with your ice cream?” I ask and she nods, she was done with it.
“Then let’s go, I’ll drop you home, but I’m going to stay near, if you need me, or if you change your mind and want to talk about it. I’ll be around.” I assure her. I won’t leave her, no matter how much she tries to push me away.
“Do you wanna talk?” I ask her during the drive back, her silence was scary, I didn’t feel okay with how quiet she is.
“I just wanna think about it, can we stay quiet,” she says in a sad voice.
“We can Lotus, but I’m here for you,” I assure her, and then we both
stayed quiet as we went back home, I dropped her at my brother home, and saw that her mother was furious.
“Fighting! In school! Punching another girl! Lotus what the hell do you have to say for yourself?” Victoria yells. I never saw her this angry before, she’s a mother after all, I’m sure that all mothers have this kind of anger and power inside of them.
“She started it mother, and speaking of saying. What do you have to say for yourself! You knew he was my mate the whole time and you didn’t tell me,” she yells at her mother.
“He told you?” Victoria says her voice dropping.
“No he didn’t tell me, he had to confess when one of his students tried to kill me,” Lotus yells, her voice getting higher and higher, I could see the fear rising.
“Lotus.” Victoria says but she ran away from us, we all could hears a door slamming and the voice of her crying.
“Lotus.” I say wanting to go after her, I can’t leave her crying like that,
cause of me. so sad and broken, and all
“Leave her, she just need some time alone, let her cry it out,” Victoria
says.
“I can’t.” I say my heart breaking for her, I can’t leave my mate crying.
“You should, if you keep pushing her, she’ll explode, all she ne some time alone,” Victoria says.

“I don’t know if I can stay away,” I say honestly, my whole body
shaking with emotions, I need to be there for her.
“I’m her mother, I knew Lotus her whole life, she got most of her genes from me, so believe me,” Victoria says, I sighed and noded, I took a seat on her sofa, refusing to move until she’s ready to talk to me.
“What are you doing here? Where’s Lotus? And what the hell happened at her highscool?” My brother comes in throwing questions, he had no idea what have happened after we left.
“Oh, no you don’t get to come in and ask questions, you starts talking what happened to my daughter?” Victoria asks Levent.
“She came into the academy to talk to him, why? I have no idea, and then the other wolves saw her, and they attacked, why? Because he’s been making them run drill the whole day, he drove them insane as revenge for threatening to touch her, and things were bad, really bad. but he decided to announce to the whole world, including your daughter, my stepdaughter the truth. I had to stay back to make sure everything is fine before I could call you or come back home, are you satisfied now. Viki?” he asks her sounding angry.
I know I’ve left him with a tone of paperwork to fill, student to control, and a lot of mouths to shut, and right now I’m sitting in his home, and he’s having a fight with his wife cause of me.
“Sorry brother,” I say trying to help out.
“I’m sorry Levent, I didn’t mean to be mean,” Victoria says.
“It’s okay, now where’s Lotus?” He asks us.
“In her room hiding.” Victoria says.
“I think she’s in shock, she won’t talk to me, or talk in general, she just went quiet,” I say, I was terrible worried about her.
“Did she reject you?” Levent asks.
“No, but she’s not happy with me either,” I answer him, I don’t think she rejected me in fear of death, she’s not going to let me into her life that easily.
“At least you told her, good job idiot,” Levent says with a groan, sitting down.
“Do you want to wash up?” Victoria asks my brother, and they both leave to their room, to wash and make up.
I stayed in my place, just waiting for her to come out of her room, to come out and talk to me, or maybe yell and fight, I don’t know what I was waiting for, but waiting for her.
The day was very slow, Viki and Levent came out and went to make dinner, they asked if I was staying and I just gave them a glare, they know I’m not moving, not until my mate comes out.
“Right, of course you are,” Viki says turning back to the kitchen, I didn’t know what they are cooking, but whatever they do would be fine, I don’t care about the food, all I care about is my flower.
“I know it’s hard brother, but at least she knows now, things would get better.” Levent says petting my back.
“I don’t need your pitty,” I answer him.

“You look like you need it,” he says with a sigh, going kitchen, her mother called her for dinner, she said she wasn’t hungry
and is going to sleep early.
“We can get you the guest room ready,” Victoria says.
“It’s fine, I’ll stay here, I’m not even tired,” I answer her, I didn’t cat, I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t do anything but think of her, and how I’ll win her back.
I called River, although I love my brother, but I need my beta and right hand right now, he’ll know what to do, he’ll help me out, maybe he’ll join us for a bit.
“I found her,” I inform River as soon as he answered the phone.
“Way to go man,” River says happily.
“But things aren’t going as I expected them to,” I say next.
“Is she holding back on you? You know how girls be, they want some time before they give in.” River says, thinking I’m talking about this in a sexual way.
“It’s not sexual River, I wish,” I say that would’ve been much easier on
- me.
“Then what is it? Is she a baby? How old is she? Don’t tell me you’re gonna be raising your own mate.” he says, and before I could answer him and tell him that she’s not, she’s perfect just the way she is, he kept on talking
“Is she married? Have a human boyfriend?” River asks.
“Would you shut up and listen,” I growl in a low voice, she doesn’t need any more reasons to hate me.
Shock
“Okay,” River says finally taking a breath.
“She’s human, she’s sixteen, she doesn’t have a boyfriend or husband, but the thing is, she’s scared of wolves,” I say slowly trying to explain to my friend what the problem is.
“But boss, you are a wolf,” River says.
“It’s why we thought it’s best not to tell her,” I say going into details of my problem.
“Not tell her? What if she pulls away? Get sick! You know the fever can kill a human in forty–eight hours or less,” River yells at me.
“Thank you for the intel, but you do remember I graduated wolf school, and I have passed all of my classes,” I remind him, I knew all of that already.
“I know you know, but how are you not telling her?” River asks in worried voice.
“She’s Levent’s step–daughter, I managed to spend time around her, and she likes having me around,” I say, remembering last night, she was happy to have me around.
“Okay, so when are you telling her?” River asks me.
“I did, earlier today,” I say.
“And how did that go?” he asks.
“She’s in shock I guess, she’s been in her room the whole day,” I answer him.
Shock
“She’s in shock and you’re in troubles,” River says.
“I know I am, I need your help,” I say next.
“I can be there by morning, just let me get the pack settled,” River says:
“That would be great, I’ll be waiting for you,” I answer him, I needed some kind of back–up and he’s my plan B, he’s great with humans, he got a way of talking to them that won’t make them feel scared, and he’s my good friend, so I hoped everything would work then.
I closed my eyes and tried to relax, tomorrow is going to be a long day, but we’ll work this out, I’m praying to Celine that we do.
