“Hey, it’s not that bad,” Ezra says.
“Not that bad? This pack have human slaves, it is bad,” I say.
“Hey, you said it, they think you are it, and it’s your blood inheritance, you could ask for it and have it,” Ezra says.
“This pack is a mess and I’m part of the peace keepers now, I’m part of your team now, I’m not leaving to come here,” I say in a firm voice, I don’t want to become this mess of a pack alpha, I don’t want to be with any pack, I want to stay with Brooklyn and that’s final.
“Hey, don’t get mad it was just a suggestion, good job on cleaning the house and getting groceries,” Ezra says, making me smile just a little bit, it was nice to be appreciated for my work.
“Thank you, I’ll be in the other room with Rosalie if you need me,” I say, for some reason, Rosalie is staying on my side all the time, maybe I make her feel safe, and maybe she’s scared of the rest, I wasn’t objecting.
“Do you mind that I have a phone,” Rosalie asks me, she was holding the phone close to her chest, keeping it safe.
“Why would I mind? It’s yours,” I say with a shrug, but then I
remembered where she came from, she must need to take permission for everything she does in her daily life.

“Don’t allow anyone, and I mean anyone tell you what to do, you’re not a slave anymore, Rosalie, you’re part of this pack, you can do what you want to do,” I assure her
“Okay,” she says but she still sounded shy and worried.
Days have passed after that conversation, Brooklyn would only check on us through the phone, telling us she’s busy with our case, she’s trying to solve it for us, but she can’t be here with us right now, I felt frustrated without her, we didn’t know what to do.
What’s left of the pack, all of them were submissive wolves, we’d tell them they are free and they are still obeying us, we’d tell them to go and they are looking behind their shoulder, they were terrified and although they tried to act like they trust us, we all knew they don’t.
The humans, they all avoided me, they’d talk to Rosalie if they need something, so she’d tell me and I’d get them whatever they want, this whole situation was a nightmare to all of us.
“What was the hardest case you two worked?” I asked Ezra and Mateo.
“This one,” they answer at the same time.
“No, I mean other than this one, what’s the worst one?” I ask them.
“I’d say your case, your pack case was a really hard one, we haven’t seen attacks or wars like this in so long,” Ezra says.
“Glad to know my presence adds action to your life,” I inform both guys who just laughed at me.

“We heard Brooklyn wants to have a meeting with us today,” Mateo
says.
“She coming over?” I ask excited.
“Nope, over the phone, she can’t leave, her hands are completely full, Asher tried to break out of our cells last night and they took an hour to chase him down and bring him back, she hasn’t slept in the same house as Whitney since we took this case,” Ezra says, we all felt bad for her, she adores her little daughter, and spending time away must be a nightmare for them both.
“Fine,” I whined and waited for the phone call, it can’t be too far away, she’ll call us around evening.
We all got into one room and closed the door behind us, to make sure no one is listening to our chats, when the video came through, we saw that Brooklyn looked exhausted she had black circles under her eyes, she was chugging another coffee, and she was very short–tempered tonight, more than usual.
“How are things going?” she asks us, and we stay quiet, letting Ezra answer her.
“It’s going well, Captain, everything is under control,” Ezra assures her.
“So here where we are,” Brooklyn says and we got closer to the screen, listening to her.
“I have found someone who’s part of this pack, and they could demand to take alpha position, unless if someone else challenges him for it,” she says.
“Captain, what do you part of it?” I ask her.

“They need to have an inheritance connected to the pack, no need to be connected to the old alpha, just part of the pack,” she says, who did they call? Mia, I think to myself with a slight smile, I wish.
“We’ll be waiting for them to get here and we’ll make sure they are settled,” Ezra says, and I just shrug, as long as they treat this pack well.
