I spent the whole day with uncle Damian, we had ice cream, then he drove us back to the compound, I didn’t want to come back, but since I was spending time with him, I didn’t object much. He was right my favourite hobby is objecting, and I can do it over everything and anything, and right now I object to him having a mate, I know I had no right over him, but I hated this mate of his, it’s not fair, why did he even have to be a wolf.
And about my own mate, I think my prayers and hope for him or her to get burned in hell worked, no one has annoyed me, I wasn’t sick anymore and I was having the best day of my life with Damian. I drove for the first time ever, I had ice cream, and we had dinner together back at home, Damian promised he’d cook me the best steak I have ever tasted or tried, that until he burned the steaks and we ended up having noodles for dinner. I did try to make them a bit fancier, adding some veggies, and a fried egg on top.
“I still can’t believe I burned the steak,” he says after finishing two serving of my noodles.
“I told you, you have to keep an eye on the food while cooking it,” I reminded him, he was too busy looking at me, talking to me while he was cooking.
“Hey, don’t blame me if I can’t take my eyes off you,” he says and I rolled my eyes, if I didn’t knew better, I’d say he was hitting on me, but he’s my uncle, and he’s mated, and a wolf above all of that.

“Then I hope you enjoy your ramen,” I say, giggling.
“I don’t know how you made it taste so good, me and the guys used to have it in the academy, but it never tasted this good,” he says actually enjoying his dish, savouring every bite.
“It’s a thing or two you learn when you’re poor,” I say honestly, I wasn’t shy about the fact that I grew up poor, mom did the best she could and sometimes we ran out of money for food and had to do with what we had, it’s fine.
“You’ll never have to be poor again, but I want you to teach me how to make this, so I can show off in the academy,” he says making me giggle.
“Better than your burned steaks,” I say still teasing him, if it was me or mom who’d burned the steaks in our old house, we’d spend the whole night crying, or maybe we’d eat them, since we can’t afford throwing away food.
“You’re never gonna let me forget about it are you?” he asks me and I shook my head no, not on my watch, I’ll forever remind him of it.
“Good thing you’re cute,” he says with a sigh.
“Excuse you, I’m adorable,” I say, flipping my hair over my shoulder.
“Do you need to go?” I ask him later that night, mom and wolf were still out, and I didn’t know how to feel about staying home alone.
“Nah, your mom paid me to babysit you until they’re back,” he says in a serious voice, and I felt my heart break into three million pieces, cause just one million wasn’t enough to describe how much those words hurt.

I thought he was here because he was enjoying his time with me, because my mother and wolf have paid him, that was low, very low of them.
“Lotus, fuck, fuck, Lotus, pretty flower, I swear I was joking, I swear,” he says quickly looking at me with panic and fear.
“She paid you?” I say my lower lip was trembling with emotions.
“No, I swear to god no, she’ll have to pay me to stay away and I’m not going to do so, I enjoyed my day with you, I’m not getting paid, I swear. It was a bad joke on my side,” he says still panicking, I could tell the panic was real, he wasn’t faking it or anything else, so I took a deep breath, let out a loud sigh, and nod, I believed him.
“Don’t do that again, ever,” I warn him.
“I swear on my mother’s head I won’t, you almost gave me a heart attack,” he says.
“Why?” I ask him, why did he feel so guilty over making me sad.
“You looked so heart broken, I can never hold that much guilt, it drove my wolf insane,” he says.
“Your wolf? Aren’t you one?” I ask him, that’s how I understood things to go in the wolf world they are one with the wolf.
“Ones yes, I’m him and he’s me, but the wolf have stronger emotions, he feels everything vigorously, if I’m mad at someone my wolf want to tear their limbs apart, if I’m guilty the wolf wants to push itself over a bridge and be over with it,” he says.

“Wow, that’s one drama queen,” I say without thinking and then place both hands over my mouth, I just offended a drama queen, one that could cat me, kill me, or worse.
Damian on the other hand laughed, nodding his head agreeing with me, I was still worried the wolf might be hiding behind the laugh and plan on killing me later.
“Are you sure? I didn’t offend your wolf?” I ask him.
“He loves your humour, you match his and he’ll never be mad at you or do anything to hurt you,” he says quickly.
“What makes you so sure?” I ask him with a raised brow.
“You’re family,” he assures me, now I kind of likes having an uncle and a family bigger than just my mother and me, if she’s tired or mad at I have no one to talk to, but now I have this damn hot uncle with a drama queen wolf who’s ready to hurt people for me, I liked it.

“I like having a family, uncle,” I say with my cheeks turning bloody red, I really, really likes him.
“I like having you as part of my family too,” he says, answering me. “We’re back!” I heard mom yell through the front door.
“She’s not a child Viki, she can stay alone for a bit,” I heard wolf answer her.
“She’s just a baby!” Both mom and uncle answer at the same time. “I don’t like being left alone,” I say, objecting to being left alone.
“She wasn’t alone…she was with her…uncle, she was with her uncle,”

Wolf says taking a small break which told me he was thinking of another answer to say before he said uncle.
“I know you paid him to stay with me,” I say, now that I know it’s just a joke, I can tease the wolf with it.
“So he told you, he’s the babysitter,” Wolf says.
“A terrible one, you shouldn’t pay him,” I say shaking my head at him.
“What did he do? Were you a bad girl and he had to spank you?” Wolf asks making my cheeks turn bloody red.
“No, he burned the food,” I say trying to shake off his comment and keep on teasing him.
“Oh damn, what did he burn?” Wolf asks me.
“Steaks,” I say with a shrug.
“Oh damn, that’s bad what did you have for dinner then?” Mom asks worried about me, ready to go cook me some food.
“I made him my famous ramen, with an egg on top and everything,” I say fucking proud of myself and my limited cooking skills.
“That’s my girl, good job,” Mom says with a big smile on her face.
“She had to feed you, shame on you brother,” Wolf tease uncle.
“I’m a bad…uncle, next time I’ll be a better babysitter next time, feel free to take your mate out every night, I’ll be here,” Uncle says making me smile, I want to spend a lot more time with him.
“So where do you go now?” I ask him, he’s not staying with us, and he

just got here so I don’t know where he’s staying.
“I’m going to the academy, I’m staying there, maybe you should come over and visit me,” he says excitedly.
“The academy where Wolf work?” I ask him.
“I’m not part of the academic part, I’m more of an office guy, I’m taking it easy while you finish your highschool years,” Wolf says.
“How nice of you, but I don’t mind getting orphaned again,” I tell him, I have been an orphan before and although I like my uncle very much, I’m not that fond of the wolf.
“Aouch brother, she really loves you,” Unlce says with a chuckle.
“She adores me, she wishes me dead though,” Wolf says.
“Would mom still get your pension?” I ask him.
“Yes,” he answers.
“RIP wolf, you’re gonna be missed,” I say with a fake tear making everyone laugh.
“Visit me little flower, I’d love to show you around, do you have any friends there?” he asks me, with a smile on his face.
“Mariano goes there, the snow young alpha, she’s friend with his mate,” Wolf says for me, and I gave him a side glare, not nice of him to be talking for me.
“I can use my own words,” I inform the wolf.
“Go ahead then,” Wolf says.

“I’d love to visit you, and yes I have friends, I know Mariano, and my friend Rosie, she got twin brothers there, maybe we can all come and visit you,” I say thinking of the fact that I don’t want to be alone, but if I have my friends with me, I’d love to come and visit, see him in action.
“That’s a great idea, when you decided when you’re coming, you just tell me, and I’ll give you the grand tour,” he says smiling back at me.
“Uhh…Uncle,” I say deciding to ruin my own happiness with a question.
“Yeah sweetie?” he answers me with a big smile on his face.
“What about your mate? Where does she stay?” I ask him, and I could see the others looking at me with shock on their faces and they were
all tense.
“She’s staying with her family, until she get settled like I told you, I’m here alone to visit my brother,” he says smoothly, he wasn’t thinking or worried about answering me, and he sounded so sure, I didn’t doubt him for a second.
“Oh okay, I’ll arrange it with my friends and come visit you,” I say happily.
“I can’t wait for that,” he assures me, before leaving us, saying goodnight for the night.
I felt the urge to follow him, to cry and tell him to stay with me, but instead I had to let him leave, he’s just my uncle, not anyone I could claim or demand that he’d stay. I felt stupid for wanting him to stay, I felt stupid for feeling so attached to him while he had his own mate back at home, and I hate wolves, why the hell am I mad.

“I’m going to bed,” I groan walking away heading toward my room.
“What’s wrong baby? Did Damien do something to you?” Mom asks me, following me to my room,
“Nothing mom, I’m just tired, I want to sleep,” I whined,
“Is it something about uncle?” she asks me,
“No, he’s nice and all mom, and that’s it, he’s my uncle,” I say.
“I thought you didn’t want an uncle,” mom says, reminding me of my old argument.
“I changed my mind,” I say with a shrug.
“You’re a girl, you got every right to change your mind, and now you like him, that’s fine by me,” Mom says making me giggle.
“You know it’s not healthy for you to be defending my mood swings.” I remind her.
“Ehh…you’re your mother daughter, I can’t expect anything different from you,” she says with a shrug, making me laugh, I felt better after talking to her.
“I really gonna hit bed mom, tell the wolf I don’t agree with him keeping you out till midnight,” I warn her.
“Fine, I’ll tell him that the magic washes away at midnight, I need to be home before that,” she says, quoting my favourite story ever,

“Just make sure not to forget your shoes out there,” I say still giggling

“Of course, goodnight sweetie.” Mom says walking toward the door. but then she stopped and turned back to me, “Hey, Damian isn’t your blood uncle. I don’t mind you calling him so, but you have no blood connection, don’t forget that,” she says and keeps on moving. I didn’t understand why she’s telling me so? I know he’s not, but I like him, he doesn’t have to be blood related to me, for me to enjoy his company.
