Lotus POV
“Lift your hands up sweetie,” Mom says trying to pull my shirt over my head, but I shook my head at her, I don’t want to take it off, I wanted to stay dressed, hiding the mark on my back.
“Come on girl, if you stay in your wet clothes, you’d be suffering from hypothermia next,” the doctor says.
“I’ll take them off alone, get out,” I say. I’ll make sure to wrap myself in a towel.
“Let us help Lotus, you’re not feeling well,”

“I’ll be okay, get out.” I say still objecting to them being here with me.
“Fine, but it’s bed after that.” Mom warns me, as if I’ll be going out to run under the rain with this high of fever and every bone in my body feeling like it’s breaking and mending at the same time.
I wrapped myself in the towel, making sure to hide my shoulder and then I went back to bed where mom and the doctor were waiting for me, they have done a quick job of changing my bed covers, taking off the ones I have sweat on and putting new clean ones for me.
I laid in bed again, a towel held firmly around my shoulders, the doctor got a stethoscope and asked to listen to my heartbeat, I first allowed her to check it over my chest but when she asked to check my back, my heart dropped and I refused.
“Lotus, stop fighting the good doctor, let her check you out,” Mom scolds me, she was worried and scared, but if she sees what I’m hiding, she’ll have a heart attack.
“Don’t touch my back,” I demand in a firm voice.
“Miss Savage, can I have a word with Lotus alone,” the doctor asks mom who stood in her place for a moment thinking of her request, does she trust the good doctor and leave us alone, or does she stay and watch me fight b
“I’ll be right outside,” Mom warns both of us, leaving the room, the doctor’s face turned into one filled with softness, she even bowed her head a little to me.
“Sweetie, did someone hurt you? I can call the beta, she’s the nicest women ever, her name is Beta Emmalyn, she’ll keep you safe, if it’s your mother or Levent, or someone else, she’ll know how to deal with it. I promise,” she says, she’s telling me about the beta, I wanted to laugh, I know the beta, I’ve spent half my day over with her.
“I’m safe, I know the beta,” I assure the doctor.
“Then you need to let me examine you, please,” she says and I shook my head no, she sighed and then her whole face changed, she went

“No,” the doctor says, she called my mother, telling her to get back, in she whispered something to her, and then both women stood in the corner of the room, eying me like the wolves they are.
A few minutes later, beta Emmalyn joined us, she looked at me with a sad smile, I shook my head no at her, but she nodded, all three women started to walk toward me, I jumped out of the bed, running but they caught me right away, did I even made it out of the bed, how embarrassing it must be, I didn’t have any energy left in my body.
“Celine, help us,” the doctor says, she let me go, as did the other

“What’s wrong with her, is she dying?” Mom asks the fear showing in her voice.
“No, your daughter is mated.” the doctor says her eyes locked on my back, the towel, has fallen, and I was quick to lift it back up, but it was too late they saw it.
“What does that mean? She’s dying?” Mom asks again.
“No, Miss Savage, your daughter is suffering from separation, nothing I could do to her, get her mate over here,” the doctor says.
“Mate? My daughter doesn’t have one of those, and if she did, wouldn’t want it,” Mom says, she knows m too well.

“Give it some time, you’d die from sickness while your mate would go insane and the alpha will have to hunt it down and put it out of it’s misery,” the doctor says, matching my tone.
“Wow. thanks a lot doctor,” I say in a bitter tone.
“Doctor Mackenzie, thank you for the help,” Beta Emmalyn says dismissing the doctor, now it’s only us left.
“Lotus, put some clothes on. Victoria, please help her,” Beta orders. she wasn’t acting like she did earlier with me, she turned into an authoritative figure, she left the room while mom helped me put on a new clean pajama, she was careful, and gentle not talking or commenting on anything that have happened already.
Beta was back with wolf this time, they stood in front of me, while mom fluffed my pillow and helped me sit up, although she was furious at me, or maybe disappointed, I wasn’t sure how she was feeling, but I knew she wasn’t happy and I wasn’t feeling my best, but she stayed near me, a hand on my shoulder the whole time.
“Levent is by our law your wolf guardian.” Beta starts and I nod, that I understood already, they explained that for me when I first enrolled in school.
“It’s why I’m here, and you need to be honest with me, with all of us.” Levent says.
“Fine.” I say angrily.
“When did it happen? We need to know that Lotus, or else you’d get very sick very soon, and I don’t want you to get sick.” mom begs me.
“Last night, I think,” I say with a shrug.
“The itch?” Mom asks and I just nod.
“It started as an itch?” Beta asks me.
“Yeah, just a small itch, I thought it was nothing.” I lied, I knew what it was as soon as I saw it, but I have been trying to ignore it. Both the beta and Levent shared a look and then nodded to each other as if they understood what’s going on.
“I need you to remember, did you meet any new wolves last night? Someone who came in contact with you?” she asks me.
“I met Rosie’s brothers, and this guy Michael, and that’s it we left after that.” I answer them.
“It can’t be the twins they would have torn the compound into pieces.” Beta says and Levent thanked the lord out loud.
“I don’t know this Michael guy though,” Levent says.
“I don’t think it’s him, he’s a peaceful guy, he’d call me.” Beta says.
“Could it be one of ours?” Levent asks.
“It could be, she doesn’t know everyone, and it doesn’t have to be someone she talked to,” Beta says.
“What if it’s not one of ours? We don’t have control over those,” Levent says with a groan.
“She’s still under the pack protection, she’s too young to move in with another pack,” Beta says.
“I’m not moving with anyone, I wanna stay with mom.” I whine
holding mom’s hand tighter, maybe it’s the fever talking, but suddenly I was terrified.
“First we need to find that mate of yours, no one came toward you, no one yelled for your attention, followed you?” Levent asks.
“No, it was me. Mariano, Nutmeg, and Rosie, we all left together when the party got too wild.” I say honestly.
“I’ll ask Mariano, if he saw anyone following them.” Beta says getting her phone and calling him, she had him on speaker, letting everyone
hear his answers.
“Hello.” she says when he answers.
“I swear I’ll give her back, but I can’t have enough of her.” Mariano says and we all could hear Nutmeg’s laughter in the back.
“Alpha, put some distance, and talk to me.” Beta says in her business
voice.
“Yes, Beta?” Mariano says, his voice has lost the laugh and the smile, it was all serious now.
“Last night, Lotus was marked by a wolf, did you see anyone?” The beta asks him and we could physically hear the silence and coming out of the phone.

“She showed no sign of it, when I took the girls home, none of the other wolves were following us. It was insane alpha, the other packs joined and it was time for the youngster to get home.” Mariano says.
“I understand, keep an ear out then,” Beta says ending the call.

“What now? We go around asking for a wolf who lost his mate?” Mom asks, she has changed her position to sitting right next to me, hugging me tight.
“No, it’ll put her in a weird position, the wolf must find her on it’s own.” beta says.
“Then what do we do? Put my baby girl out there for any wolf to hurt. her, kill her for their own fun,” Mom says, holding me tighter. I wanted to say relax mama bear, but it feels like she knew what she’s talking about.
“We’ll keep her safe of course,” both Levent, and Beta say at the same
time.
“So what’s the plan?” Mom asks next.
“The plan is to keep her here. with both of us keeping her safe,” Levent
says.
“And how would we find her wolf?” Mom asks, I wanted to chuckle, I always call Levent wolf, and now she’s calling this damn mate of mine wolf, ironic. I love fever.
“We don’t, hell come looking for her.” Beta says.
“How would he know I’m here, he can go to hell,” I say with a slight smile on my face.
“Not nice, but we’ll leave your mate to deal with you, their heart will guide them over here.” Beta says.
“I don’t want them,” Jobject.

“Then death, would you prefer dying so you’d keep be stubborn?” Beta asks me.
“Don’t be so cruel with her, she has her own reasons to why she’s afraid of them.” Mom says.
“Afraid? Victoria, you know by now that Levent would die for you. take a bullet, stand in front of a train, all that jazz, she should know it too,” Beta says.
“She’s still young, she has every right to be afraid.” Mom defends me.
“Young or not, we’re not going to let her to die, she can’t reject this wolf whoever it is,” Levent says.
“I’m telling them to go to hell, straight to hell, weeeee…” I say feeling very dizzy
“Life with your sweetie gonna be just as bad as hell.” Mom says kissing the top of my head, making me smile, I’m so cool.
Levent’s phone started ringing and he took off to answer it, while Beta was giving me a weird look, mom just smiled and assured her all will be good, she got my back, no matter what
“Damian is coming over, I tried to tell him to get lost, but he insists on being here to help keep her safe.” Levent says
“Safe from what? I’m fine,” I say my head dropping backwards little
“If other wolves smells that you’re mated and alone, they’d kill you just to mess with your mate, it’s not a joke, we need to find them.” Beta says and I just rolled my eyes, death sounds nice, I’m gonna close try eyes and start practicing now
