“I don’t want to be here,” I whined.
“He needs to be here, and we need to get him to shift,” Emmalynn
says.
“Emma, I thought we were friends,” I say with a groan.
“We are friends, and it’s Emmalynn, my mother didn’t name me a full name for you to cut it short,” she scolds me, she always does that, no one is allowed to shorten her name, I bet her late mate was allowed to do so.
“So how about this evening, we all go out?” the alpha suggests and I just shrugged.
“Under the moon, the goddess would bless us with the moonlight,” The Luna says with a big smile, she’s trying to lift my spirit up.
I wasn’t interested in any of their chat or talk, but they managed to drag me out of the house, they got me outside and I saw all of my old friends, including my sister Anna, who turned to me and hugged me tight.
“Levent, I missed you, jerk,” she says hugging extra tight.
“I missed you too, where’s the kids?” I ask her.
“Sleeping, it’s past their bedtime, maybe tomorrow if you’re feeling up to it, you’ll get to see them,” she says with a big smile on her face, but all of their smiles were forced and a lie, none of them were actually smiling, they were doing so just to try and make it up for me, they were doing all of this for my own sake.

“Are you ready?” alpha asks me, and I turned to him with a sad look.
“No, but would you guys leave me?” I ask him.
“No, come on, go ahead, do it,” the alpha orders, and they all shifted into their wolf form, they were forming a circle around me, keeping me in the middle of them.
They did small grunts, they turned around me, some of them came close and touched me, they were encouraging me to change, to shift, and in case my wolf goes insane, they are around here to keep me tamed..
I ended up giving in, I allowed the wolf to come out, I relaxed and let the wolf out, and then it happened, I changed it was painful, it felt like every bone in me broke, and then it mended, my skin was on fire, my eyeballs felt like they were going to explode, my ears had a ringing noise in them, I screamed in pain, I was surrounded by my family and my friends, there was no enemies around me, all of them were my family, I was back home.
I fell on the ground suffocating, unable to breath, I cried as I tried to take some air in and out of my lungs, Anna was right by my side, she was on the ground so close to my left side while Emmalynn was on my right, they were both nod—ding me, poking me and trying to get me to stand up, to join them.
I looked up and saw the moon shinning down on us, I felt the goddess love against my skin, I felt all of the misery that I’ve been hiding for the last four years and I let out the saddest howl I could manage, it made my own broken heart break again, I looked around me and saw them all look broken and sad the same as me. They joined my howl with ones of their own, the howling noise moved around our pack land, everyone who heard it, howled, joining us, they all showed their compassion, they all told me that they were here for me, for another wolf who’s broken and hurt.

The howls moved around the ground of the snow pack and touched the edge of the Blue Thorn pack, everyone who heard joined, I was so grateful for them all to be here around me and them getting me to do it.
I still looked up at the sky, waiting for the goddess to do something, waiting to see Viki again, but none of them paid me any attention, it was just me looking up at the sky feeling miserable, the wolves around me moved quickly, they moved to get my attention to get me to start moving before I give in to my depression and sadness, they were quick to howl, to jump, to push me around.
I moved my feet slowly at first, I was stiff and cold, it felt like I’m learning to walk again for the first time, if Viki was still alive, she would be changed and I would be the one teaching her how to walk in her wolf form, the same way I’m suffering right now. I moved one limb at a time, I moved slowly first, trying to get my control back, until finally I managed to walk, the walk moved into a light joke and finally I managed to run.
