Chapter 25
Cara froze.
She could feel it.
She looked up, stunned, watery eyes wide.
“You… did you just…”
Arthur cursed under his breath, immediately pulling away and sitting up.
“No!”
Cara slowly sat up too. “But…”
Arthur shot her a cold glance.
“You think I stayed with Lucy last night and now I’d actually touchyou? Don’t flatter yourself.”
His words were like daggers, and her face paled instantly.
Right. That moment earlier? Just her wishful thinking.
He would never… not with her.
Cara stood up, her voice trembling with fury.
“In that case, don’t you dare care what kind of menI spend time with.”
Arthur’s expression darkened. “You-”
She cut him off with a smile.
“Until the divorce is final, we both get to play. You play with Lucy, I’ll play with whomever I

like.”
Then she gave him one last glance, eyes lingering mockingly on his lips.
“Oh, and maybe practice your kissing. I’m still not convinced you know how.”
With that, she walked out the door.
Arthur remained seated on the bed, chest heaving with barely restrained fury. His entire presence was engulfed in a dark storm.
Damn woman!
What the hell was wrong with his kissing?
Why was she always dragging that up?
He let out a cold laugh. Clearly she was just goading him–trying to provoke him into kissing her again. Same old trick. No originality.
She probably thought that implying he was bad in bed would force him to prove otherwise.
Arthur reminded himself–she’s not his type. A pretty face, sure. But no real substance.
Those two “moments” of desire? Just biology. He was a man, not a monk.
His phone rang. It was Lucy.
Arthur pinched the bridge of his nose. “Lucy?”
“Arthur!” she chirped. “Come to the bar! Matthew’s back in town, remember? You forgot to welcome him!”
Right. Hehad forgotten.
Matthew–the heir to the Shadow Pack, one of the most powerful in the city alongside his
own.
Arthur and Matthew had grown up together.
“On my way,” he said, standing.
Why the hell should he care what Cara was doing?
She was a backwoods girl with nothing but a pretty face. Of course she’d be out chasing men. That’s all she was good at.
She wasn’t Lucy.
Let her play. With anyone she wanted.
But not Matthew.
