Chapter 18 The Name That Remains
Chapter 18
That paper was Ariel’s final declaration–she wanted to sever ties completely.
And the most pathetic part? Now Damon clung to that very mate bond
termination form just to feel close to her.
It was the only thing that still carried the faintest trace of her scent.
He had it laminated, so it could withstand being flipped through over and over
again–sometimes several times a day.
“Ariel… where are you?” Damon murmured hoarsely. “I know I was wrong. I
don’t even want your forgiveness anymore… I just want to see you, even for a
second. Ariel, everyone who hurt you has been punished. Even me… I’ve been
suffering every moment. Just come see me once. Please, Ariel…”
He didn’t know how long he had been whispering her name before exhaustion
overtook him and he passed out cold.
But the Thornfang Pack was no longer what it
once was.

Chapter 18 The Name That Remains
News of Alpha Damon and Luna Ariel’s broken bond had shattered their
once–envied image. People everywhere were declaring that they no longer
believed in love.
Fans who once adored them as a couple had been some of Thornfang Pack’s
most loyal customers. Their image had drawn in powerful werewolf warriors
from all over.
But now that their fairytale had ended, all of that admiration turned to
bitterness.
Photos and details of Damon’s entanglement with Isabelle leaked across the
internet, exposing him further.
Many who once swooned over their romance now felt nothing but regret and
disgust. Even the once–iconic jewelry line named Ariel, once a symbol of
eternal love, was now scoffed at and rejected.
Collectors abroad rushed to offload the piece at slashed prices.
When Damon learned of this, he stepped in and bought Ariel back

immediately..
Holding the dazzling piece of jewelry in his hand, it was as if he could see
Ariel’s radiant face again.
He remembered how he’d poured his entire heart into designing it.
From the choice of materials to the first sketches, he had handled every detail
himself. Only then did he pass it along to a world–renowned jewelry artisan to
refine it further.
After countless revisions and sleepless nights, they created something
unmatched.
He had named it Ariel, a tribute to the woman he loved–knowing he would
rather be nameless in love than not love her at all.
But now… how did things end up like this?
Damon pressed the necklace against his chest, desperate to feel even a
sliver of her warmth.

But the jewel was cold.
Under the care of the collector, the piece had become pristine–perfect even
-but it carried none of Ariel’s scent.
Damon was beginning to lose hope.
Without the mate bond, there was no link between them. No way to track her.
How was he supposed to find Ariel?
It felt like an impossible question with no answer.
Then suddenly–it hit him.
The internet.
No matter where Ariel had gone in the world, someone must’ve seen her.
Someone could help.
Immediately, Damon posted a public missing person alert online.

A reward of 100,000 would be given to anyone who could provide a confirmed
sighting of Ariel.
Anyone who could submit a recent photo of her would receive 300,000.
As soon as the notice went live, the internet exploded.
But instead of support, many responses were laced with mockery.
“Alpha Damon betrayed the Luna he claimed to love. Thornfang Pack’s no
better. And now he’s using this to do damage control? What a PR stunt!”
“Yeah, all that romantic stuff before
efore was probably fake. Poor Ariel–her mate
cheats and she still ends up used for marketing.”
“If that money’s real, I’ll change my last name to Damon!”
