Chapter 11

Upon seeing her at today’s family reunion, of course, he wouldn’t spare her any courtesy.

Kashton kept retching and shivering. Seeing this, Lenora supported him to the sofa.

Jericho immediately defended Nadine, “Grandpa, Nadine would never do such a thing. I bet it’s Romina who did this. She framed Nadine in the same way three years ago.”

His tone was icy, his gaze razor-sharp.

Looking at him, Romina didn’t feel a thing.

Hayden was probably the only one in the family who trusted her.

“Ms. Sandoval, I know you hate me. But, no matter what, you shouldn’t have harmed Kash…”

Before Nadine could finish speaking, Romina slapped her across the face without hesitation.

A loud smack echoed in the dining room.

Everyone was stunned.

To them, Romina was the gentle type, quietly enduring injustice without complaint.

This was the first time she had gotten physical.

“I already took the fall, and once was my limit. From now on, I’ll never take the blame for something I didn’t do.”

Romina’s voice, though not exactly loud, was filled with firmness and resolution.

Her gaze darkened with anger, like the calm sea before the storm.

Joaquin, who remained sitting next to the main seat, arched an eyebrow slightly.

His finger tapping the table paused for a second.

He curved his lips into a faint smile.

Romina piqued his interest.

“Enough, Romina!” Jericho strode over and protectively stood in front of Nadine, who was clutching her cheek piti- fully.

He scowled at Romina. “Three years in prison seems like a waste of time. You’re getting completely out of line.”

Just then, the family doctor arrived. Lenora soon led him to the second floor while holding Kashton in her arms.

Ignoring Jericho, Romina intended to check on Kashton before leaving.

But as she was about to walk upstairs, he yanked her wrist. “Explain, Romina. You’re not going anywhere today un- less we settle this.”

“Oh, you wanna settle this? Fine.” She shoved his hand away, her gaze glacial. “I want a divorce. Do I make myself perfectly clear?”

The scene immediately fell into dead silence.

Everyone, including Jericho, gawked at her.

She brought up divorce today, at the family reunion?

Jericho clenched his jaw. Classic Romina-always embarrassing him whenever she felt like it.

Joaquin, who remained silent the whole time, settled his eyes on Romina’s slender figure.

Only now did she really have his attention.

Her long, pristine white dress exaggerated her already fragile frame.

Her delicate cheeks had an unhealthy pallor, but at this moment, rage flushed them rosy.

Her hands, though slender, held a surprising, almost fierce power.

She was a no-nonsense woman with efficient movements.

He had to admit-she had his attention.

Also, whenever he glanced her way, he just couldn’t shake the feeling that he had seen her before.

But… where? Where had he seen her before?

“Romina, do you really think now is the right time to make a scene? Everyone’s watching. Aren’t you embarrassed by yourself? Let’s discuss this privately,” Jericho said through gritted teeth.

“Interesting. Tell me, Jericho-what should I do to stop embarrassing myself?” she retorted coldly while looking at him, who had been taking Nadine’s side all this time. “By admitting I added the mustard to Kashton’s sauce dish and taking the fall? In my opinion, cowards who don’t even have the guts to own up to what they do should be embar- rassed by themselves. Don’t you think?”

“Romina! That’s enough…”

Before Jericho could finish speaking, a deep, magnetic voice rang out. “Jericho, there’s no evidence right now. Accus- ing her like this doesn’t seem appropriate.”

Hearing this, everyone instantly looked toward him.

Romina turned to him, too.

The moment their eyes locked, she seemed to spot a trace of something unreadable and complicated in his eyes.

As Joaquin’s gaze slipped from hers, Jericho glanced up and met his eyes.

He was instinctively stunned.

Joaquin spoke up for Romina? Seriously?
