Chapter 2
In the manor’s medical wing, needle after needle of labor–inducing serum pierced my skin.
Cold sweat poured from me as waves of agony crashed through my body.
Through the observation window, Lilith bounced excitedly on Zephyr’s arm.
“Zephyr! You’re so good to me. Soon our baby will be safe from the curse and born completely normal!”
Zephyr watched me, a flicker of something almost like regret crossing his stone features.
But when he looked down at the radiant girl in his arms, his expression softened completely.
The doctor emerged from the procedure room, his face grim.
“Lord, must we proceed now? We could wait two months until Miss Lilith’s due date. That would be sufficient time-”
Zephyr barely glanced up, still playing with Lilith’s golden hair.
“But my pet wants to see how long a five–month vampire infant can survive.”
“Besides, this way Isadora suffers for fewer months. Once she recovers, we’ll simply have another child. A full–term, healthy one.”
The doctor started to protest, but Zephyr’s impatient glare silenced him instantly.
As the procedure room doors sealed shut, they cut into my belly.
The nurses around me sneered, whispering among themselves:
“Look, it’s the repeat miscarriage patient. Finally keeping one, though it’s just going to be a monster anyway.”
“This thing is being born to take the curse instead of Miss Lilith’s baby. Master’s orders–no anesthesia. Just cut it out.”
Their cruel laughter rang in my ears, making my vision blur with pain and memory.
Six months ago on our anniversary, the usually distant Zephyr had suddenly pulled me into his arms with desperate hunger.
He’d gripped my waist, claimed my lips, buried his face in my throat.
He said he loved me.
He said he wanted me to bear his child.
His wine–darkened eyes had been so beautiful that night, I’d been bewitched into agreeing.
When I miscarried the first time, Zephyr had frantically summoned every healer in the territory.
During the procedure, he’d knelt beside my bed with red–rimmed eyes.
“Isadora, don’t be afraid. We lost this one, but we’ll have more children. I promise.”
The proud vampire lord had shown tears for me. For the first time.
I’d bitten back my own tears and nodded through the pain, my heart swelling with hope.
Later, just as he promised, we conceived again. And again. Through seven heartbreaking losses until this eighth pregnancy,
But today, seeing Lilith in that study, hearing the nurses‘ mocking words-
I finally understood that Zephyr had never wanted my children at all.
Time became meaningless until a final, stabbing pain, and my child was torn from my body.

I’m Not Your Breeding Tool, Vampire Lord
Chapter 2
A weak cry filled the air, instantly sharpening my focus.
Thirty minutes later, ignoring my crudely stitched, still–bleeding incision, I struggled from the bed.
If this place had no room for my daughter, I’d take her and leave.
The moment I opened the door, there was Lilith, with a twisted smile on her face.
In her hand was a leash.
Following the leather cord with my eyes, my heart lurched.
