Chapter 18
Dune raised his hands. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to surprise you, wait, are you going to school?” I made a sound in my throat.
“I’m fucking savage, I can go to fucking school,”
“Language,” River called across the house as Dune grinned.
“Save it Captain America!” I shouted back and then smiled at Dune, making him pause. “Anyway, yeah, there’s no reason for me not to now, the teacher is gone, and…” I ran a hand through my hair. “I have people to talk to now, so, it should be fine.”
Dune hesitated before giving me a thumbs up. “Cool, I’m happy, let me drive you before Cross or Lion hear you’re going to school though.”
I nodded and walked with him to the door, heading to his car. “I’m sorry,” Dune told me, staring at the road as he drove me. “You told me, you weren’t getting it fights, and that you were just sitting there, but I didn’t even-”
“It’s fine, I’m not… mad at you.” I gazed at the window, tapping my hands on my thighs. “I wish you would have believed me, but I have to own up to the fact that I’m a trouble maker, my words are usually the last to be heard.”
Dune sighed as he pulled into the parking lot. “Well, know this, River was talking about how things were seriously going to be changing at home, so, mentally prepare yourself.”
I froze. “What?! What did he say?! Dune, what were you all talking about last-”
“Raven, breathe, you’ll fine out after school.” Dune told me, and I touched my stomach, feeling nauseous.
One thing was for certain as I climbed out of Dune’s car, there was no way I was going home tonight. I skipped into the building, going to my locker.
“Raven! Baby!” Shade winked and I raised an eyebrow at him.
“What’s up?” I asked as I gathered my books.
“We got a new teacher for today, and he’s hot as fuck,” Shade declared.
I groaned and sighed, closing my locker. “Darn, I was hoping we would get to skip math today, a free first period would have been awesome.” I stated
and looked around.
“Have you seen Faith around? I had a favor I wanted to ask her,”
Shade shook his head and pulled out a lollipop, placing it on his tongue. “Nope, she’s talking to the principal about tutoring this one student in history.”
I frowned. “Oh, I guess I’ll see her at lunch then,” Shade nodded and looked at his watch.
“We better get going, or we’re going to be late, you have to see this teacher! Hot damn!”
I wrinkled my nose but followed after him anyway, slightly curious. I stepped into the math classroom and sat down in my seat, placing my head onto the cool surface, closing my eyes.
Students laughed and talked until the door opened, and suddenly everyone paused. “Good morning, I’ll be your new teacher, you can call me Sir or Mr. Nicholas.” I slowly looked up, only because of how sexy his voice was, but when I saw him I froze.
The students weren’t silent out of respect, but out of fear, my new teacher, was a vampire. I looked over at Shade, with wide eyes, and he grinned, fanning his face.
“Stop being gay, for two seconds,” I hissed, but of course, Mr. Vampire Hearing, heard me.
“You there, what’s your name?” The new teacher asked and crossed his arms. “Stand up, don’t just stare at me.”
I stumbled to my feet and ignored the dark green eyes of the teacher “I’m Raven Light,” I introduced firmly, not liking the recognition in his eyes.
It was very unlikely that he wouldn’t know who I was, since he was a vampire. Every vampire, though very rare, knew River, and knew he watching a human girl named Raven Light.
“Thank you, sit down,” he turned to the chalk board. “I trust you won’t interrupt the class again with your foolishness.”

Chapter 18
I blushed and glared at the teachers back. Asshole!
I clenched my hands into fists, annoyed, but couldn’t help grudgingly notice he was a way better teacher than our old one.
“Jimmy, would you answer this one?” Nicholas asked, and Jimmy trembled, but answered.
“Negative six, sir,”
Nicholas nodded. “Very good, now,” he paused as the door opened.
The principal smiled. “I hate to interrupt, but I wanted to remind our students of the annual field trip up onto the mountains. It’s only a little while away, so sign up while you can.”
I sat up straight and frowned. I had never been allowed to go on the field trips, but this time, that wasn’t going to stop me.
It would be perfect, I would be able to get some much needed space-
“Class dismissed, but Raven Light, would you stay back please.” I froze and looked at the vampire, not bothering to hide the sudden fear that entered
my eyes.
The principal sent me a smile before all the students funneled out, eager to get away from the supernatural. Shade sent me a gentle smile, telling me with his eyes at everything would be fine.
I went stiff as the door closed and the vampire and I were alone. “Raven, about your grades,” Nicholas shuffled through papers, not even looking at me.
