I stepped past the living room, and the normally loud and obnoxious vampires were dead silent.

I pulled on my boots, wishing I could just stay in bed forever, only leaving for fast food and hot showers.
“Off to school?” I slowly looked up and gave Fin a look. He smiled the best he could. “Ah, I see, have a nice day?”
I turned and grabbed the doorknob, looking at Fin over my shoulder, feeling the gaze of the other four. “Yeah… you too,” I opened the door and swiftly moved down the driveway as I heard the door open after me.
“Hey,” Dune called and I turned, feeling mentally worn thin.
“I don’t want a ride,” I told him with no emotion. Dune shook his head.
“No, I was going to tell you to have a good day as well.” I stared at the vampire, who sent me an eager smile.
I narrowed my eyes at him. “I don’t want your sympathy,” I told him coldly.
Dune raised his hands. “I know, I’m not, well I do feel bad, but –” I sighed and turned, putting in ear buds and walking away.
The walk was spent with me brewing and feeling sorry for myself. I walked through the parking lot, and Shade quickly fell into step with me.
“Hey, want to-”
I turned and glared at him. “Leave me alone, go mess with some other human.”
Shade smiled cheekily. “I can’t, everyone else is scared of me.”
I raised an eyebrow and weakly nodded. “Fine, just… don’t talk, please.”
Shade saluted and happily walked quietly with me to my locker. I opened it and sifted through my books before someone gently cleared their throat.
I paused and looked over to my left. Faith Turner, was standing by my locker, acting nervous. I closed my locker and gazed at her. “What’s good?”
Faith blushed for no reason and glanced at Shade before gathering her courage. “Would you like to eat lunch with me today?”
I frowned. “We have different cafeterias,” I pointed out, and Faith waved a hand for a good awkward ten seconds before she spoke.
“It’s fine, everyone is cool with it, so,” she smiled brightly. “Will you?”
I nodded and paused as Mrs. Bitch, or my math teacher, walked over. “Raven, a word? It’s about your homework,”
My eyebrows shot up, and I recalled that Dune had done that for me. I shifted and touched my hair nervously. “Uh, yessss?” I dragged out the word anxiously and I saw Shade lean over to whisper something to Faith.

“My proof?! You’ve failed almost every test!” She hissed.
I looked away. “Fair point, however, I didn’t fail all of them, and my,” I nearly felt green at my next words. “My brother, helped me, so I did do it.” I crossed my arms. “You can’t make me fail, I’ll go to the principal ”
“He won’t believe you, he never does,” she told me coldly and turned her back to me.
“You’re going to get in trouble for abusing me,” I wasn’t sure why, but I felt the need to bring it up. She turned and scoffed.
“Abusing? I only hit you to teach you,”
I grit my teeth. “Your teaching style happens to be illegal,” I told her coldly.
The teacher smiled. “It doesn’t matter, because I’ll never be caught –”
The door opened and the principal smiled. “About that, you’ve been caught,” he said with fake cheerfulness and I stared at him with parted lips.
Behind him, Shade and Faith.
I blinked as the teacher began piling on excuses, saying it was a joke. “We have cameras in here, they just aren’t watched,” the principal said coldly. “We won’t be making that mistake again.”

“Raven, oh my gosh! I can’t believe it, I just, I didn’t think Shade was telling the truth, but he was right!” Faith exclaimed.
I looked at Shade with parted lips. He smiled and gave me a thumbs up.
“Feel free to follow me around school,” I blurted.
Shade smirked. “Deal,”
The rest of the day, I was followed around by Shade and Faith as the whole school erupted into chaos and rumors.
