Chapter 21
Elena’s POV
I watched Vanessa raise a brow at me and place both of her hands on her waist confidently. My goodness, the confidence that came from this girl was utterly disgusting. I shook my head in disdain at her.
“I do not understand what you a trying to say but keep trying to dig up dirt when there is absolutely nothing to dig up.” I snapped at her.
I attempted to knock the door to Damien’s room but Vanessa came in my way, blocking me from taking any further actions.
“What the hell are you doing? Can you leave my way?” I felt anger rise in me.
Who did she really think she was to act all authoritative? People like her disgusted me so much.
“Pretending much? I know all about you and Damien’s marriage. Behind that whole charade is two people who do not love each other at all.” Vanessa grinned at me mischievously.
She was taunting me and honestly it was beginning to work.I took a few steps backward and released a heavy sigh as I tried to calm myself down.
“Okay detective Vanessa. Good for you but none of your discoveries are right and even if they are, it will never break my marriage with Damien.” I spat at her bitterly.
I could have sworn I caught her frown for a brief moment, right before the fake smile reappeared on her face.
“Want to take any chances?” She wriggled her brows at me playfully.
i groaned in frustration, I clenched my fist tight and gritted my teeth in anger at her.
“Just get the hell out of my way, I have business to work on unlike you because clearly judging by the look of things, you are most likely unemployed.” I said…
“Oh whatever makes you sleep at night.” Vanessa sneered at me.
Fortunately for me, she actually stepped out of the way but was quick to deliver the knock right before I could.
“Who is there?” Damien yelled.
“Vanessa.”
“Elena.”
The both of us chorused at the same time, we turned to shoot dagger glares at each other before averting our gaze back to the door. Damien slowly opened the door and stood by it with a confused look on his face. He was already dressed for work, all that was left was for him to put on his suit and
leave for work.
Not to mention, he looked extremely hot in a fitted white long sleeve shirt, the first two buttons of his shirt were left open, revealing his bare chest. His long legs were clad into the neatest pair of grey suit trousers. His dark hair was messy yet it made him appear so hot.
I hastily blinked twice and snapped out of it when I figured that I was not the only one drooling over him.
“Hey Damien, did you sleep well?” Vanessa winked at him, feigning a very feminine voice.
Talmost threw up at her facade. Damien nodded his head slowly, I caught him sneak a glance at me before averting his gaze back to Vanessa;
“I slept well, thank you. What about you?” He asked in the most uninterested tone ever.
I choked out a small laughter, attracting the attention of the both of them. They both turned to gaze at me with confused looks on there laces thishte

mumbled an apology and gestured them to carry along.
“I did all thanks to you.” She paused to wink at him.

Wait, what? What was that supposed to mean? Did they sleep in the same room? I turned to gaze at Damien but his eyes were no longer on me but on Vanessa instead, he had his same old expressionless glare plastered on his face except the slight difference was that he looked a bit gloomy today.
“I wanted to return this.” I watched her stretch her hands forward, a red bedsheet was clutched tight to her hands, neatly folded. I just stared in amusement as Damien gladly received it.
“I will also be on my way now. Thank you for letting me spend the night here.” Vanessa said, her childish smile never wavering for once.

Damien nodded his head in agreement, he cleared his throat and said “If you ever want
a lot.”

by, feel free to. My mother seems to enjoy your company
I scoffed. That was because Vanessa and Damien’s mother had the exact same character and birds of the same feathers flocked together so of course, it was totally understandable if they got along well.
“Oh come on, I am sure Elena will keep her good company.” Vanessa chuckled at me.
I chuckled back in response and rolled my eyes at her. As if.
“I guess but do not hesitate to stop by. See you later.” Damien waved at her.

“You are in my way.” He pointed out.
“Oh, sorry.” I muttered, my entire cheek flushed red in embarrassment as Damien gave me the coldest gaze. I gulped a lump down my throat and waved
at him.
“Goodbye sweetie, have a good day at work.” I could not let Vanessa have the last laugh but to my uttermost surprise Damien ignored me. Not even a single wave or anything of such.
I was beginning to wonder if he was acting this petty just because I was finally going to leave the house. I mean Damien was usually cold to me but this time it felt different, it was almost like he was avoiding me like I was some kind of plague.
I sighed in defeat. Why was I so concerned anyways? I guess this could be for the good of both of us in the end. That way we’d only focus on our revenge plan and there would no distractions at all.
