Chapter 2

“Bella, are you sure you want to do this? What about your father? If you leave Alpha Jason,

he will cut off your father’s treatment. And your

have no other pack to go to.”

That was the truth.

Apart from this pup, my father was the only

reason I couldn’t leave.

He is the only one who stayed by my side after my mother passed away.

He raised me, teaching me the strength to pursue my dreams, to stand my ground even in the face of those who sought to tear me down.

We once had something powerful—a pack legacy built over generations, both lands and

wealth.

My father was the Alpha of the IronWolfPack,

and I was his heir.

Our pack was the most formidable in the Pack

Alliance, especially in the fields of technology

and medicine.

But when it all came crashing down, that glorious pack was stripped of its luster.

His council members betrayed him, one after

another.

Investors from other packs withdrew their funds; partnerships within the Pack Alliance

crumbled.

The news claimed it was due to my father’s poor leadership.

But that wasn’t true.

He was deceived.

Before the strategic cooperation, my father had been in a car accident-leaving him in a coma, fighting for his life.

Some whispered that it wasn’t an accident.

I believed them.

That was when he appeared.

Jason Blackwood, Alpha of the BlackstonePack, the so-called savior of our pack’s legacy.

He came to us with a proposal.

Marry him, and his pack would form a marital

alliance with ours, buying out and “reviving” my father’s failing businesses.

In return, he would cover all my father’s medical expenses indefinitely.

At that time, it seemed like my only option.

I became his secretary… and his mate.

Silently, secretly his mate.

He didn’t want anyone to know.

He said it was for “business reasons,” that an Alpha marrying the daughter of a bankrupt. pack would raise doubts among members.

And I… I stayed quiet, burying myself in the shadows for my father’s sake.

But now?

Now, there was no pup.

No love.

No meaning.

So I gripped the phone and told the lawyer, “I don’t need him anymore. Complete the process

to sever the mate bond.”

The next morning, I went to the office.

No longer his mate. Just his secretary.

Just as I had been for the last five years.

I walked straight to the pack council and demanded they start hiring a replacement.

“I will train whoever you hire,” I told them. “I’’U be resigning at the end of the week.”

They looked surprised.

But no one objected.

I returned to my desk, beginning to sort

through old files, not expecting him to notice. immediately.

But of course, he did.

Jason stormed into my office without knocking.

“What the hell is this?” he demanded, “Why did the pack council inform me of a recruitment

request?”

I stood up calmly. “I’m resigning. I need a break… some time to relax.”

His eyes narrowed. “A break? Are you out of your mind? Have you forgotten your father? I’m the only reason he’s still alive. You’re my secretary, I don’t need anyone else!”

I looked at him, meeting his gaze steadily. “I’m still your mate.”

“Shut up!” he snarled, glancing around to see if anyone had heard.

“You know we agreed to keep it a secret. What

the hell are you thinking, saying it out loud here? We’ll talk at home-when you’re thinking

clearly.”

Then, without warning, he grabbed a stack of papers and flung them onto my desk, scattering them everywhere.

“Get these files in order, reschedule my

meetings. And-book me a flight.”

“To where?” I struggled to keep the tremble out

of my voice.

He sneered. “With Bianca. We have business at

the Darkwood Pack.”

I froze. “Why Bianca?”

“She’s a client,” he said flatly. “She needs my guidance. Why are we even discussing this? Have you gone stupid after your miscarriage?”

I clenched my teeth. “What kind of client needs the Alpha to accompany her to another pack?”

At that moment, he slapped me.

Hard.

My head whipped to the side, my cheek throbbing with pain and humiliation.

My chest felt tight-but I wouldn’t let myself cry.

“You dare question an Alpha’s order?” he

roared.

Before I could respond, Bianca walked in, her high heels clicking loudly on the marble floor.

“Oh, don’t be so harsh on Bella,” she cooed, pretending to be kind. “She just got out of the hospital. Let me help her.”

She bent down, gathering the scattered papers, smirking as she handed them to me. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it.”

But as she leaned closer, she whispered in my

ear, “You really have the nerve to show your face here, Bella. He never wanted you, he never

did.”

I didn’t react.

I wouldn’t give her the satisfaction.

Jason waved her over. “Enough. Let her do her job. Come on, Bianca-we’ve got your brand launch to finalize.”

She hooked her arm through his, as if she

belonged there, and they stepped into his private office together.

As they disappeared, I heard whispers.

From the end of the hallway.

Two employees at the water cooler were

murmuring.

“They look good together, Alpha Jason and Miss

Bianca.”

“Yeah, I always thought it was her. Maybe she’s the luna everyone’s been speculating about, the one the Alpha’s been hiding.”

I bit the inside of my cheek hard.

I said nothing, just continued working.

Sorting files, booking flights, completing reports, as if nothing had happened.

As I was about to leave for the day, I passed by

his office.

The light was still on.

I thought they’d have left by now.

But I heard his voice, through the slightly ajar

door.

“I think I just need to kill her father,” Alpha Jason said, his tone eerily calm. “Then I can get rid of her for good.”
