Chapter 25
Three months flew by, and my siblings‘ vacation was ending.
During their time in Los Angeles, Asher had asked about their future plans and arranged for top tier tutors for them, filling their schedules to the brim.
It was exhausting, but they learned a lot.
Before leaving, they made a point of thanking Asher and each presented him with a gift.
After seeing them off at the airport, I was wheeling Asher toward the parking lot when we spotted Lawrence.
He stood behind a column wearing a cap. He looked thinner than last time, his former confidence gone.
Because of the project incident, Asher struck back once he had time to deal with it.
The Castro company had suffered devastating losses and Lawrence was fired.
His parents had grown distant, shifting their attention to their younger son.
But Lawrence had brought this on himself. I felt zero sympathy.
When Lawrence spotted me, he tried to approach.
Security intercepted him again.
I helped Asher into our car and instructed the driver to leave.
Barely an hour after returning home, Lawrence appeared at our front gate.
I refused to see him, contacting his parents to come get him instead.
Mr. and Mrs. Castro apologized profusely on the phone, promising Lawrence wouldn’t bother me again.
A month later, Natalie updated me on Lawrence and Viola.
The married businessman Viola had seduced turned out to be quite shrewd. Once discovered by his wife, he cut ties with Viola completely, letting his wife handle the situation.
Days earlier, the wife had confronted Viola at a shopping mall and beaten her publicly. And the whole scene went viral.
Soon Viola received court papers demanding the return of all funds her husband had transferred to her during their affair.
With nowhere to go, Viola resorted to her old tricks and found herself a divorced elderly man.
It’s said that this man was sexually reckless and had contracted HIV that everyone in their circle knew about–except Viola. Her future looked predictably tragic.
As for Lawrence, the company’s losses and his dismissal had hit him hard. He’d become depressed and developed a drinking

problem.
I listened to these updates with mild interest but quickly put it out of my mind.
He’d been contacting me more and more, trying to weasel some benefits out of me.
I refused him at every turn.

Knowing he couldn’t get to my siblings with Asher’s people watching over them, Dave turned his attention to my mother’s
grave.
Shaking with rage, I sat in silence and made a decision.
I was going to move my mother’s grave to Los Angeles and cut ties with Dave and the entire Bennett family forever.
That evening, I discussed this with Asher.
He caressed my hand with his thumb, his tone casual. “Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”
“What are you going to do?”
Instead of answering, he pulled me onto his lap. “Kristin, if I go a little too far, will you think I’m being cruel?”
“Not at all,” I answered quickly. “I’d love nothing more than to see him suffer for the rest of his life.”
“As you wish, then.”
Asher kissed me softly. “But Kristin, I never make unprofitable deals.”
His kisses grew more intense. “You know what I want.”
Of course I knew what he wanted.
We’d been married for months now and except during my period, he’d never let me rest.
But truthfully, I enjoyed it just as much.
“Asher, let’s go to the bedroom…”
“No. Right here. Just like this.”
His hands gripped my waist. “Kristin… you know my legs don’t work. So you’ll have to do the work harder this time.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck, breathing against his ear.
“Okay,” I whispered, pressing my lips to his.
