I never expected that in just two weeks, Lawrence would show up at the Thorne estate asking to see me.
At the time, Asher and I were trimming roses in the greenhouse.
When the butler delivered the message, I almost thought I’d misheard. “You’re saying Lawrence Castro came here alone?”
“Yes, ma’am. Mr. Castro is waiting outside,” the butler confirmed. “He’s brought gifts for you.”
I frowned, a wave of annoyance washing over me.
The Thorne family was incredibly powerful. Even Lawrence’s parents treated Asher with cautious respect. Where did
Asher Thorne’s wife? Lawrence get the nerve to come here, demanding to see me
Wasn’t this challenging Asher?
—
Lawrence’s so–called “love” would only disrupt the peaceful life I’d built, creating endless problems.
I glanced at Asher beside me, feeling both embarrassed and guilty.
This wasn’t just an ex. This was a black mark on my past.
Asher was holding a rosebud, carefully removing thorns from its stem before placing it in a white vase.
Only after he was done did he look up at me. “What do you want to do about it, Kristin?”
“I don’t want to see him,” I replied firmly.
My life was good now. I didn’t want Lawrence destroying this peace and warmth.
If I agreed to meet, he’d just think I was still playing hard to get.
I never wanted to see his face again.
“Alright,” Asher gently take my hand. “Then you won’t see him.”
