Chapter 97
Chapter 97
Boris expressed his approval and admiration for his good friend. He believes that Klaus‘ wise approach is valuable for a leader. A dark history may taint someone’s reputation, but Klaus recognizes the value of talent and its ability to stand on its merits.
“You’re a good boss. That female employee surely looks highly and appreciates you.” Boris uttered.
Suddenly, the image of Rebecca double crossed Klaus‘ mind, prompting his lips to crept a smile as he continued, “Honestly. She not only has a talent in design, but she is also an art, so captivating and beautiful.”
“It seems like spring has come your way, my friend. Have any idea?” Boris kidded, holding his laughter.
Tinged with shame, Klaus downed a shot of whiskey and firmly stated, “Don’t talk nonsense, I’m a serious person, and office romance wasn’t in my plan.”
After he finished speaking, he glanced around and initiated to change the topic. “Don’t put me in a tight spot, that’s a tricky side of you. How about you? Are you really tempted by that woman?” he asked, turning the tables.
As he placed his glass down, Boris remained silent for a while. His eyes hinted in dismay as he mumbled, “There’s no romance involved, I just wanted to help her.”
The following day, Rebecca arrived at Creative Creations on time to report and collect her badge. Since it’s her first day, she had to make a good impression at her workplace. Not long after, the Personnel Department went through the onboarding procedures for her and assigned her to the second team of the Design Department.
“This is your badge. The probation period is three months, would that be alright with you?” The Department Personnel asked.
“No problem, thank you,” Rebecca responded with a smile and took the badge before she went to the design department.
Earlier, Rebecca was at her wit’s end before stepping into the company. As a newcomer, she would be troubled by her seniors and deal with a disparity of impressions in her new working environment.
However, Rebecca’s dread dissipated as she was welcomed with open arms by the second team of the design department. The warmth of their greetings was like a soothing balm to her frayed nerves and relieved her.
On the contrary, the group next door dismissed Rebecca and gathered to mock and ridicule the second group’s jovial welcome ceremony. Their eyes tinged with contempt as they prattled around.
“We’re already in the 21st century, yet, the second team is still doing that? What a bummer.” Someone mocked.
“They’re as naive and foolish as to treat the workplace like a kindergarten party.” Another commented.
“Let them dance for a few more days. Next month’s tournament will convince them how puerile they are. Our workplace requires professionals, not a bunch of first graders!” The one with a coffee sneered.
“I heard from the Personnel Department that Mr. Smith will lay off people after the competition, and it’s from the second team.”
Different sides of mockery continued until the blabbers faded as the other group walked away, which Rebecca paid no heed to.
With that, the busy morning passed quickly, and the midday takeover. Rebecca ensured she saved her files before turning off the computer and had a good stretch.
At this moment, several female colleagues walked over to invite her.
“Rebecca, let’s go to the cafeteria to eat together. Since it’s your first day at the company, we’ll tour you around. The foods in the cafeteria are delectable. I’m sure you’d like them!” Carleigh her co–worker chirped.
“Thank you for taking care of me,” Rebecca replied. She was delighted to have found companionship with the second group and felt a strong sense of belonging. Their warmth and kindness made her feel like she was at home.
Rebecca and her co–workers arrived at the cafeteria, which was spacious and exquisitely decorated. The cafeteria offered a diverse range of cuisines, including Asian and Western dishes, and the chefs were highly skilled, comparable to those working in Michelin–starred establishments.
All dishes were served free of charge. The first group in the design department liked Western food, while the second group liked Asian food. The two
groups could not blend happily, whether in the office area or the cafeteria.
Keenly aware, Rebecca didn’t take the initiative to bring this topic up. Instead, she listened to what others had to say while feasting over her food
“Look at the few people in the group. They came to the cafeteria to eat a lot! They were so energetic!” Agatha remarked.
“They just relied on a group of people directly under the management of Mr. Smith. They felt superior to others since they were significantly working under the CEO.” Monica snorted, stabbing the stake in her plate.
“Since Mr. Smith is most interested in strength and talent. Next month’s competition, we’ll see. Our second group must overthrow the arrogance of the first group and win.” Carleigh slotted in, munching her food.
When Carleigh mentioned the competition, Rebecca suddenly became interested and asked, “Can I participate next month?”
“Of course, you can. If you can win the award, you will be transferred to a regular account that month.” Monica chittered
Hearing this answer, Rebecca’s eyes flashed in delight as she retorted, “Great, I wanted to participate!”
“Mr. Smith has always been fair in this regard. Whether it’s a probationary employee or a full–time employee, as long as it’s a competition, no matter how big or small, every Creative Creations staff member has the right to sign up.” Agatha clarified before drinking her iced tea.
As she heard this, Rebecca had already liked their boss. Mr. Smith possessed a certain degree of humanity and motivated the employees by encouraging a competitive spirit.
After lunch, Rebecca and her colleagues returned to the office and started their afternoon work.
While on her way, Rebecca decided to grab a cup of coffee. As she turned around to sit down, two women entered the room. Their makeup spoke about how confident their posture was. These women were Creative Creations‘ chief designers and worked together on the same team.
Although Rebecca was not in group one, everyone belonged to the design department. She didn’t want to make the relationship too stiff and dull.
“Hello,” Rebecca greeted them in a friendly and polite manner.
One of the women turned around. It was Avery Larkins. “Are you talking to us? You must be a newcomer. What’s your name?”
Avery’s tone hinted at disdain and could make everyone buckle on their limbs, but it was not severe, and Rebecca endured it.
“My name is Rebecca Gadot. I-” Before Rebecca could finish her words, she was cut off by Avery.
“Nice name,” said Avery as she sat across from Rebecca. She then asked, “Could you please pour us some coffee?”
The other, Charlie, sat beside Avery with a faint smile. She also had an aloof attitude.
“Add more sugar too.” Charlie added, her eyes gleamed in irony.
Being treated like a slave, Rebecca felt the two were foolish. She spoke to them as etiquette and had no intention of flattering them. No wonder the second group didn’t get along with the first group. The first group was packed with conceited individuals thinking highly of themselves.
In response to this, Rebecca turned a deaf ear to their foolish requests and had no plans to be someone’s puppet for fun. She picked up the cup, stood up and was about to return to the office.
“Sorry, I’m not a waiter. If you want to drink coffee, pour it yourself.” Rebecca sneered. Her tone had a serrated edge that frayed the two women’s
temper.
Avery and Charlie frowned and patted the table angrily, posing as a threatened gesture. Charlie stood up and fretted, “You are just a temporary worker. How dare you speak to us in such a tone? Do you understand the rules of the workplace?”
“I don’t understand, and I don’t have plans of respecting those who lack basic manners in the first place.” Rebecca spat as she spun around, leaving pantry without looking back.
Stunned in silence, Avery and Charlie’s expressions altered. Avery gritted her teeth as she roared, “She’s just a temporary worker. She’s not on the same level as us! Who gave her the guts?”
“Since she’s so ignorant, don’t blame us for not being able to tolerate her.” Charlie bellowed, clenching her fists.
After the incident, Rebecca returned to the office and finished her coffee as she kept herself busy at work. She kept herself regaled with tasks as a

means of avoiding dwelling on the troublesome situation.
As dusk settled in, darkness flickered across the ground, indicating it was time to get off work, Rebecca and her colleagues Inft Creative Creations gate and headed home separately. She walked to the bus stop alone and waited patiently for the bus.
Not long after, a black off road vehicle suddenly stopped in front of her. The window lowered, revealing Klaus’s handsome and manly disposition.
“Mr. Smith,” Rebecca greeted respectfully.
“Where are you heading?” Klaus inquired.
“It’s Downtown New York,” Rebecca responded, averting her gaze.
Hearing this, Klaus‘ eyes gleamed an unknown emotion as his lips budded a smile and he stated, “It’s a coincidence, it is my destination as well. Get in the car, and I’ll drop you off.”
Taken aback, Rebecca waved her hand in shame and refused, “President Smith, you don’t have to. I’ll just take the bus.“
“Since you call me President Smith, you must obey the leader’s arrangements and get in the car. Parking in this area is against the law, and you may face penalties and fines if you do not comply,” Klaus threatened, leaving Rebecca with no other choice but to get inside the car.
