Chapter 5
Rebecca looked up to see them about to open the box and snatched it back in a flash.
Her sudden reaction stunned the three men. Their eyes locked onto her.
“Who did you pick? Darth? Anton? Or…” Loki’s voice trailed off, unable to finish with “me.”
Rebecca knew he was terrified she might have actually chosen him.
She forced a smile and met their gazes head–on.
“So what if I’ve decided? Or if I haven’t? Why are you so nervous? It has nothing to do with you.”
Darth grabbed her wrist, his voice urgent.
“Nothing to do with us? If you’re getting arranged married, it has to be one of us! There’s no one else
of marriageable age in the Hemsworth, Madison, or Fraser families!”
Anton stepped closer, his eyes fixed on her.
“We’ve never pressured you to decide. But now that you have, just tell us straight. We want this
torture to end.”
So marrying someone they didn’t love was torture for them, even before it happened?
Rebecca took a deep breath and opened the box, pulling out a stunning diamond necklace from the Evans family. She held it up for them to see.
“Here’s your answer. Satisfied?”
It wasn’t Darth’s family emerald bracelet, Loki’s 20–carat ring, or Anton’s family heirloom pendant.
Their eyes drifted to the backseat of her car, packed with shopping bags. The realization hit them all
at once.
“This isn’t one of our gifts. You bought it yourself? Fine. How much was it? We’ll pay for it as an apology gift.”
Rebecca stared at the sparkling diamond in her hand and said nothing.

Loki assumed she liked the necklace and took it from her, fastening it around her neck.
Darth flashed her a grin and gave her a thumbs–up. “It looks good. Really suits you.”
Anton took out his phone and snapped several photos, claiming he wanted to commemorate the
moment.
For the first time since her rebirth, Rebecca saw genuine smiles on all three faces.
They were happy because they thought she hadn’t chosen a marriage partner yet–they were celebrating their continued freedom.
In that moment, Rebecca found it both absurd and darkly funny.
She was about to say something when Ariana waltzed in, interrupting her thoughts.
Ariana’s eyes lit up at the pile of gifts filling the living room.
“Whoa! Where did all these presents come from? Are they… are they for you, Miss Gadot?”
The three men froze at the sight of Ariana, their gazes glued to her every movement.
Seeing their uncontrollable smiles, Rebecca spoke flatly.
“Yes, they’re for me. But I don’t want them. Take them if you’d like.”
With that, she walked back to her bedroom without another glance at them.
Ariana feigned disbelief, pointing to herself.
“Me? Take them? Miss Gadot, you must be joking. These are gifts from the young masters. How could I possibly deserve them?”
The men heard the disappointment in her voice and instantly felt protective. They eagerly guided her toward the mountain of presents.
“Rebecca says they’re gifted for you, then they’re yours,” Loki said gently. “These dresses, bags, and jewelry are all the latest collections. You’d look amazing in them–why wouldn’t you deserve them?”
Darth nodded. “Things only have value when they’re used. Stop putting yourself down, Ariana. You deserve the best of everything.”
Chapter 5
“Come on, let’s open them,” Anton urged. “We’ll help you figure out what suits you best.”
Their voices faded as they cooed over Ariana, the door closing behind them.
The cold diamond necklace against Rebecca’s skin felt foreign and uncomfortable.
But she told herself that with enough time, she would get used to it eventually.
