Chapter 18
Ariana stopped in her tracks, listening quietly.
After their confessions, the three men anxiously waited Rebecca’s reaction.
But Rebecca didn’t even flinch, calmly pouring herself a cup of coffee.
“Rebecca, I know I realized my feelings too late,” Loki continued. “I was bewitched by Ariana and thought you were spoiled. That’s my fault. We grew up together, and her vulnerable act deceive me.”
He pulled a small pearl doll from his pocket and held it out to her.
“Rebecca, I know I hurt you. I remade the pearl doll you threw away. Please don’t be mad anymore.
Come back with me. Let’s start over.”
“I was wrong too, Rebecca,” Darth jumped in as soon as Loki finished, producing a jeweled tiara from his pocket.
“Look, I got you a new crown, even prettier than the last one. You’ll always be my princess. Come
back with me.”
Anton immediately pulled out a photo frame containing a picture from their 18th birthday.
“Rebecca, I reprinted our photo. We’ve been together for over twenty years and never apart. No one
knows you like we do. Come back with me, and I’ll cherish you like I always did.”
All three held out their offerings, waiting for her response.
Rebecca watched them finish, then let out a soft laugh.
Looking directly into Loki’s eyes, she said, “Loki, so you do remember we grew up together? I
thought it was Ariana who shared your childhood. Funny how you could doubt me so easily after a
few words from her.”
She took the pearl doll and casually dropped it to the floor. Under its own weight, the string broke instantly.
The pearls rolled across the floor in every direction.

“Darth, remember our camping trip? You drove off in the middle of the night with these two,
abandoning me alone in the woods. You didn’t care if I was scared, even took the car–and you me your princess?”
She grabbed the tiara and smashed it against the floor. Like their relationship, it shattered into
pieces.
Sharp fragments flew at their legs, cutting deeply even through their suit pants.
“And you, Anton. Remember pushing me and causing my injuries, all for Ariana’s sake? I regret
every one of the twenty years I’ve known you.”
She took the photo from the frame and tore it to shreds.
Seeing their crestfallen expressions, she continued coldly.

“Loki, Darth, Anton–the best apology you could offer me is to stay the hell away. The sight of you brings nothing but bad luck. You’ve only caused me pain, like when you ruined my birthday party and made me a laughingstock in New York.”
“So stay out of my life. If you continue harassing me, I’ll take my action. You’re just upset that I’m no
longer trailing after you.”
“We’re done.”
She walked out without looking back.
As she passed the entrance, she noticed Ariana standing there and flashed her a look of contempt.
Rebecca’s expression immediately broke through Ariana’s facade. That same superior look again.
When Ariana had first entered the elite academy through the Gadots‘ sponsorship, all the wealthy
students had looked down on her.
Though Rebecca was kind to her, Ariana had desperately wanted to be looked up to like her, rather than mocked as a poor kid.
That’s why she’d schemed to steal everything from Rebecca. Gradually, as she grew closer to the three heirs, students at the academy began flattering her.
Yet Rebecca maintained that same superior attitude, looking down on her.

Rebecca’s existence reminded her that everything she’d struggled to obtain, Rebecca had been born
with.
She absolutely hated Rebecca.
