It was past midnight when Rebecca returned to the rental house feeling beat. She took a quick shower and brewed a refreshing cup of mint and wolfberry tea. Then, she sat under the desk lamp and began to work on modifying the designs, focusing on the details that needed refinement.
Rebecca was determined to win the tournament next month. If she wins the award, she will not only be able to become a regular in his work but also have a foothold in Creative Creations.
Furthermore, aside from the prize, she will also receive a bonus of one million dollars from the company. With this money, the issue of liquidated damages could be resolved, and she would be free and no longer worry about Chris sending her to Denmark.
The lamp on the table lit up all night, and when Rebecca put away the blueprint, it was already dawn. She stretched her hand, feeling her sore muscles, and set the alarm before finally going to bed.
Inside the building of Creative Creations, The design department held a regular meeting every morning, and Klaus personally presided over it.
“Mr. Smith, a team of people has arrived.”
“The three teams are here.”
“The four teams are here.”
“The five teams are here.”
Each team representative announced their arrival as they entered the spacious and well–lit conference room. Klaus took his seat at the head of the table and carefully reviewed the designs submitted by each team.
After the team leaders finished their reports, Klaus frowned and raised his head as though he wasn’t satisfied with each team’s performance. When it was the group two leader’s term to report, Klaus noticed that she was on pins and needles.
“Mr. Smith, there’s still one person from the second team that’s not here, but she’s already called to remind her. She’s on her way to the company now. She’ll be here soon.” The second team leader stood up and explained the situation.
“Who is it?” Klaus queried bluntly. He was disgusted by people who were late for work. He put professionalism under the umbrella, yet, one of his employees is late?
The team leader hesitated momentarily, then embarrassingly confessed, “It’s Rebecca Gadot.”
As Rebecca’s name rang in his ears, Klaus frowned as disappointment flashed across his eyes and remarked, “I thought we made the company’s rules clear, and you, as her leader, should remind her of that.”
As Klaus emitted this, Avery and Charlie looked at each other with a victorious grin. At Creative Creations, it was widely known that Mr. Smith considered being late a significant taboo. In fact, a skilled designer was once fired from the company solely for this reason.
“I’ve noticed that the current temporary workers are not familiar with our company’s rules. They have only created a few designs that are barely noticeable designs. Yet, they must pay attention to the company’s rules and regulations. Mr. Smith, what Ms. Gadot did was unethical, and she should be fired as a consequence of her action.” Avery slotted in, walking with graceful strides.
“Ms. Gadot was late for work the next day. This is a matter of ethical conduct. Mr. Smith, I suggest consideration for the termination of her employment.” Charlie concurred.
Since Avery and Charlie were prestigious Creative Creations‘ designers, they were Klaus’s hand–picked chief designers. As soon as their statements were delivered, everyone started gossiping about/Rebecca, except for the second team.
Suddenly, a loud bang reverberated when Klaus smacked the table in vexation and the people in the meeting room fell silent in an instant. Everyone was in fidgets and at a loss as they gazed at each other.
“I’ll handle the matter at hand. You don’t need to worry about it. If you have any concerns, we can discuss them during the meeting,” Klaus stated with finality.
In the meantime, Rebecca was on the edge. Since she came home late, she woke up later than usual. She was unsure how to explain this to Mr. Smith. In frustration, she knocked her head twice, regretting having fallen asleep.
On her way, Rebecca received a call from the team leader and learned that Mr. Smith would not let her go to the company today. Rebecca kept urging

the taxi driver, her eyes were red with urgency, and she felt uneasy.
Please drive faster. I’ll double the pay! If you slow down, my job and career are on the line here.” Rebecca yapped.
Under Rebecca’s continuous urging, the taxi took her downstairs at the fastest speed. She paid the bill as promised, rushed into the building, and took the elevator to the design department.
As the elevator opened, Rebecca’s expression froze momentarily upon seeing the employees chattering around, as she immediately walked out. She lowered her head in shame upon hearing her name rang around but that didn’t matter to her at this point.
“Mr. Smith, I’m sorry, I’m late.” Rebecca apologized, approaching Klaus.
With a professional demeanor, Klaus glanced at her disappointedly and stated, “Ms. Gadot, you’re late. I have ati urgent appointment so I cannot hear your side. Please reflect on what happened, and your salary has already been deducted for today.”
After Rebecca and Avery entered the elevator, Avery deliberately bumped into Rebecca as the doors closed. Rebecca wanted to say something to Klaus but kept her mouth shut and lowered her head in remorse.
In the afternoon, Rebecca declined the invitation to join her colleagues for lunch as she was too preoccupied with writing her review letter. However, her colleagues came over to comfort her, and their kind words lifted the weight of shame from her heart.
“Because I was late, the second team was criticized. I’m sorry.” Rebecca apologized.
“Ease your worries, Rebecca. We don’t blame you. I believe you didn’t mean to be late.” The team leader stated warmly.
“I promise I’ll be careful in the future. I won’t be late again.” Rebecca promised with determination gleaming in her eyes.
Reflecting on her mistake, Rebecca stayed at the office drawing blueprints even after everyone in the design department had left since she had been docked a day’s salary.
Suddenly, the sound of a familiar person boomed from behind, which made her halt in her seat.
“Ms. Gadot?” Klaus uttered in disbelief.
Rebecca quickly got up and remarked, “Mr. Smith, you’re back.”
Ever since they met at the elevator in the morning, Rebecca had not seen Klaus at the company all day. It discouraged her heart and made her eager to do better to earn his forgiveness.
“Didn’t I tell you to go back today? Why are you still in the company?” Klaus questioned, his tone tinged with consideration.
“If I really return, I won’t be here tomorrow.” Rebecca asserted.
A soft chuckle escaped Klaus’s lips, his eyes alight with a mysterious gleam. “You’ve still got the tricks up your sleeve,” he remarked.
However, Rebecca stood before the desk and couldn’t laugh as she admitted her mistake. “I’m sorry, Mr. Smith. It’s my fault for being late today. I won’t make any excuses and take responsibility for what I slack off. This is a review letter I wrote.”
With that, Rebecca handed Klaus the handwritten review form with both hands, which Klaus accepted and inadvertently glanced at the blueprint drawn by her.
His eyes lit up instantly as he asked, “Did you draw it in just a short period?”
“Yes, I drew it at the company this afternoon,” Rebecca nodded.
In fact, it had been long since Klaus had seen such a remarkable design, and Rebecca was indeed talented. Klaus turned around and walked ards the office, his eyes shining brightly as he uttered, “Come to my office with the blueprint.”
As for Rebecca, Rebecca followed Klaus with the blueprint, thinking he was still willing to discuss the design with her despite the fact that she once fallen from grace and messed up.
Half an hour later, Klaus and Rebecca were still discussing their design concepts behind closed doors. Surprisingly, their ideas were alike as though they both understood each other’s taste. Once they started chatting, they quickly formed a bond and didn’t want to stop.
At this moment, the door of the office was suddenly pushed open. Clad in a beautiful dress, Avery walked in with her wavy hair that was just taken
care of.

“Mr. Smith, I’ve packed up. Let’s go. Don’t make Mr. Richardson wait too long.”
As soon as Avery finished speaking, she saw Rebecca sitting beside Klaus. Her expression contorted with jealousy as she shouted in disbelief, “What are you doing in Mr. Smith’s office?”
