Chapter 10
After settling Ariana and her father in their new home, the three men returned to their respective
houses.
The next morning, just as they were about to head to the hospital to check on Ariana, each of them
received a package from Rebecca.
Loki stared at the emerald bracelet in the package. So Rebecca hadn’t chosen him.
Why not? Didn’t she like him? As a child, she’d always followed him around, sweetly calling him “Loki!” and saying she’d marry him when she grew up.
So did she choose Darth or Anton instead?
The same scene played out in the other two households.
Darth and Anton stared at their returned tokens, a sour feeling rising in their chests.
How were they inferior to Loki?
All three men thought alike and went to each other’s homes but missed each other.
They finally arranged to meet at their usual restaurant’s private room.
When Darth arrived, Loki was already there. Seeing each other’s tokens, they both assumed Rebecca
had chosen Anton.
An awkward silence fell between them.
Then Anton walked in. He frowned at the way they were both staring at him.
“What’s with you two?”
Then he pulled out his token and held it up.
“Rebecca returned this. So which one of you did she choose?”
The other two exchanged shocked glances and showed their own tokens,

“She gave mine back too,” Loki muttered.
“Mine as well.”
A heavy silence descended on the room.
“If it’s not us, then who the hell is it?” Anton broke the silence.
“What other family is worthy of marrying Rebecca?”
“Maybe she’s just throwing a tantrum,” Loki said, trying to convince himself. “Waiting for us to apologize,”
“Yeah, that’s gotta be it,” Anton agreed.
“Definitely,” Darth echoed.
The three of them kept trying to convince themselves until a phone rang, cutting through their
speculation.
It was Ariana. He hesitated for some reason and let it ring until it stopped.
The others‘ phones started ringing too, but neither answered. Then Loki’s phone rang again.
“Just pick up. What if it’s something serious?” Darth and Anton said simultaneously.
Loki finally picked up, putting it on speaker.
“Hey, Ariana. What’s up?”
“Loki, are Darth and Anton with you?”
“Yeah, you’re on speaker. They can hear you.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Ariana’s excited voice filled the room.
“I’m so touched! You stood up to your families and refused to marry Rebecca, all for me…”
The three men exchanged confused glances. While they weren’t enthusiastic about the marriages, they’d never actually refused.
Sensing something was off, they interrupted her excited rambling.

“Ariana, what exactly happened?”
“Huh?” There was a moment of confusion in her voice before she continued, “Didn’t you all refuse the arranged marriages? That’s why Rebecca is marrying that Evans bastard from Los Angeles
instead!”
“WHAT?” All three men were shocked.
Rebecca was marrying into the Evans family? When did this happen?
As heirs to powerful families, they were familiar with the Evans situation.
Chris Evans was undeniably capable, but he was illegitimate–and nothing was more despised in high society than an illegitimate child. .
How could someone like him married Rebecca?
Rebecca was throwing herself away just to spite them?
