“Abigail, you should really consider what I said before. Being my assistant is way better than being a janitor,” Ralph said.
“A janitor?” A flash of mockery crossed Abigail’s eyes. “You think I’d a janitor here?”

Abigail didn’t feel like explaining. Her tone was flat “If that’s what you think, sure.”

“Mrs. Gibson, why bother? Abigail’s voice was soft and calm. “Isn’t this fine? You guys can love Daniella with all your heart, and I won’t bother hoping for anything like family love,”
“No, Abby, you’re my biological daughter. I know you hate me, and f’know you blame me, but I want to make it right I’ll do anything if you’ll just forgive me,” Bianca sobbed.
Abigail thought Bianca had only managed to move herself. “So, you think you actually love me?” she asked.
