Chapter 9
Thinking about the fate of that business partner, Bennett silently mourned for the partner who had sent the dance troupe tickets.
Bennett took a deep breath, bracing himself for Alexander’s outburst.
However, Alexander not only picked up the tickets but also examined them carefully.
Though large, the tickets were designed with remarkable simplicity. Apart from the essential information, there was nothing superfluous on them.
Inexplicably, Alexander was reminded of a scene from long ago.
Back then, Caroline was still interning at the dance troupe, designing various tickets for them.
Every time she came home late at night, Alexander would hear her complaining about the troupe’s affairs.
The design of the dance troupe tickets was especially a focal point of her complaints.
Caroline preferred a minimalist style, so her ticket designs were primarily simple and clean.

But no matter how beautiful her designs were, they would always be rejected by the management in the end.
The reason was that they weren’t flashy enough.
Whenever she complained about this, Caroline would imitate the way the managers spoke, often making Alexander laugh.
At the end of her complaints, Caroline would always swear that when she was in charge, she would definitely design the most minimalist dance troupe tickets.
But throughout this Christmas season, Alexander hadn’t seen any simply designed tickets-until today.
For some reason, he suddenly felt an urge to go see the performance.
So he pocketed the tickets and commanded Bennett beside him, “Prepare the car.”
In the theater, crowds moved back and forth, with people occasionally approaching the front row to greet Alexander.
Alexander’s expression remained indifferent. After others said a bunch of pleasantries, they only received a nod from him in
return.
Perhaps seeing Alexander’s lack of enthusiasm, no one dared to

disturb him further.
Soon, the curtain rose.
Under the spotlight, a woman in a pink tutu danced gracefully to the music.
Her flowing hair was like silk, and her smile captivated the audience below.
The only pity was that this woman wore a half-mask throughout, preventing anyone from seeing her true face.
Even Alexander, who had shown little interest initially, sat up straight. His previously calm eyes were tinged with complex
emotions.
The reason wasn’t anything else, but because the woman’s dancing style on stage was all too familiar to him.
In his memory, only one person liked to dance this way.
One afternoon that Christmas, Caroline had excitedly pulled Alexander to the practice room, eager to show him the new choreography she had created.
Caroline’s dancing figure from that time gradually merged with the woman in the pink tutu on stage now.
In a trance, Alexander seemed to see Caroline again.
He unconsciously reached out his hand, wanting to touch that woman’s face.
But the woman didn’t even glance at him and gracefully moved
away.
“Caroline.” Murmuring her name, Alexander felt an inexplicable panic in his heart and instinctively started to rise, wanting to
chase after her.
The next moment, applause erupted.
The audience below rose to their feet in appreciation. All the dancers on stage also joined hands and rushed to the front from beneath the rising curtain, bowing deeply.
It was then that Alexander snapped back to reality and joined the others in applauding.
However, his gaze still followed the woman in the pink tutu.
Backstage, groups of girls excitedly celebrated the success of this American debut while greeting Caroline, who stood in the
corner.
Caroline politely nodded at them, her hand still pressed against her chest, trying to calm her wildly beating heart.
From the moment she set foot on Washington soil again, she knew she would inevitably meet Alexander face to face again someday.
But Caroline hadn’t expected this reunion to come so quickly.
Even through the thick mask, she could notice his complex gaze following her.
If this had been before, Caroline would have been flustered and made mistakes in her dance steps in front of everyone.
Now, she simply pretended not to see.
So what if Alexander suspected Caroline?
As long as she didn’t admit it, no one could prove she was Caroline.
Moreover, when she faked her death that Christmas, Alexander had held a funeral for her in front of all of Washington.
Thinking of this, Caroline’s anxious heart calmed down.
Just as she was about to return to her dressing room to remove her makeup, Adeline suddenly walked over and clapped her hands.

Then she said, “Everyone get ready. Shortly, the president of Scott Group and various executives will be coming backstage to
visit us.”
