Chapter 7

From childhood, Mila had been pampered and spoiled. Not only had no one ever yelled at her, but no one had even raised their voice when speaking to her.

Furious, Mila could no longer contain herself and reached out with her long nails, trying to claw at Alexander’s face.

Alexander naturally wouldn’t let her act out, directly pushing Mila to the ground.

Then he said coldly, “Escort Ms. Hall out.”

“Alexander!” The heavy door slammed shut, blocking out Mila’s heart-wrenching screams.

The day Caroline’s ashes were buried was another rainy day.

Alexander held Caroline’s urn, carefully placing it into the grave, then slowly sealing the tomb.

After everything was done, he heard many people crying behind him.

Caroline had always been well-liked.

Except for Matthew and Ariana, who had settled abroad while grieving Caroline’s loss, everyone else who knew Caroline came

to pay their respects, including people who had only met Caroline once.

The sound of weeping mixed with the gentle drizzle, faint and unclear, which somehow made it even more heartbreaking.

Alexander stood before Caroline’s headstone like a statue, repeatedly running his hand over the words “My Wife Caroline” carved into the stone.

“Caroline…” Before he could finish speaking, tears were already streaming down his face.

However long the heavy rain lasted, Alexander stood in it for just as long.

That night, after being drenched in rain all night, Alexander predictably developed a high fever.

In his delirium, he had a dream.

He dreamed of Caroline.

This was the first time he had dreamed of her since her death.

The scene in the dream was still that fire.

But this time, he didn’t let go of Caroline’s hand and escaped with her instead.

……… ugntly, harder than he

ever had before.

But just as Alexander was about to escape with Caroline, she suddenly stopped.

No matter how hard he pulled, she wouldn’t move.

In the dream, the fire had already begun spreading toward the pile of gas barrels.

Alexander grew more and more frantic, desperately screaming for Caroline to come out.

But Caroline pried his fingers away one by one, then resolutely turned and threw herself into the flames.

Alexander shouted, “Caroline!”

With a massive explosion, Caroline’s entire body was instantly consumed by the fire.

“Caroline!” Alexander jolted awake from his dream, gasping heavily.

The cold sweat on his forehead was hit by the cold wind blowing through the window, making him shiver involuntarily.

Alexander weakly sat up in bed, reaching for his phone to check the time.

Just then, Parker knocked urgently on his door. “Mr. Scott, something’s happened to Mrs. Scott’s grave.”

No one had expected Mila to suddenly lose her mind, not only digging up Caroline’s grave in the middle of the night but also trying to smash her urn.

Looking at Mila, who was clutching Caroline’s urn and acting completely deranged, Alexander felt his head splitting with pain.

He struggled to suppress his rage, coldly telling Mila to put down the urn.

Hearing Alexander’s words, Mila began screaming frantically again.

She roared, “No! This bitch stole my dance championship when she was alive, and now she’s trying to steal my position as Mrs. Scott after death. Why should she get all the good things?

“I shouldn’t have just framed her at Christmas-I should have killed her outright.

“But it doesn’t matter. It’s not too late now. I’m going to smash her urn right now and make sure she can’t rest in peace even in death!”

Alexander hadn’t expected that Mila’s madness would expose her own secrets, nor had he realized that everything back then had been fabricated by her.

But he had no time to think about it, rushing forward frantically to protect Caroline’s urn.

However, his weakened body affected his movements.

Just one second before he could protect Caroline’s urn, his legs gave out and he collapsed to the ground.

As if watching in slow motion, Alexander saw Caroline’s urn fall to the ground.

The container shattered into pieces. The ashes inside scattered everywhere, then dissolved into the drizzle and vanished instantly.

Alexander stared blankly for a long time, then suddenly coughed up blood.

He cried out desperately, “Caroline!”

Washington had been quite eventful lately, and even Caroline, far away in France, had heard about it.

Regarding Alexander’s inexplicable behavior after her “death,”

Caroline just smiled and said nothing.

At that moment, Ariana brought over a bowl of dark herbal

medicine and placed it in front of her. “Caroline, time for your

medicine.”

Caroline nodded obediently, then picked up the herbal medicine and drank it all at once.

Seeing Caroline frown tightly from the bitter taste, Ariana quickly popped a candy into her mouth.

Ariana said with a smile, “Just bear with it. Two more treatment courses and the therapy will be finished.

“Then your legs will be healed, and you’ll be able to return to the stage.”

As she spoke, a trace of tenderness appeared in Ariana’s eyes as she lovingly stroked Caroline’s hair.

Listening to Ariana’s words, Caroline looked down at her legs.

She had indeed escaped from that fire successfully. But she hadn’t expected there to be a pile of gas barrels in the abandoned villa.

The series of explosions had knocked Caroline down, and her legs were pinned under heavy debris, forcing her to temporarily

leave the stage.

Later, she came to France with Matthew and Ariana, who searched everywhere for doctors to treat her.

Now, Caroline’s legs were finally almost healed.
