Chapter 6

A crowd gradually gathered around Alexander.

His friends looked both terrified and remorseful, while Mila’s eyes burned with resentment and jealousy.

Many others watched Alexander with sorrowful gazes.

But Alexander remained oblivious to it all.

A single fire had turned all of Washington upside down overnight.

Countless families fell victim to the Scott family’s ruthless crackdown in a single night.

And the heirs of those families were now locked in the basement, enduring relentless beatings.

Alexander was like a wild beast out of control, throwing punch after punch at the men on the ground.

He roared in fury: “Why were there gasoline barrels in that villa? Why did your men flee first? Why didn’t you save her? Why did you let her die?”

According to their original revenge plan, they never intended to hold Caroline captive for long.

Caroline inside.

Once the fire got out of control, those men were supposed to rescue her immediately.

But suddenly, many gasoline barrels appeared in the villa.

But the men they hired were cowards who feared for their lives.

Those men only cared about escaping, completely forgetting that Caroline was still in the villa.

The men on the ground had already been beaten bloody by Alexander and could barely speak.

They knew they had caused a catastrophe and could only beg for mercy.

One man said: “Alexander, we were wrong. We were really wrong. We truly didn’t know there were gasoline barrels inside. If we had known, we would never have set the fire. Please, spare us.”

More than a dozen bloodied men lay on the ground, continuously begging Alexander for mercy.

But Alexander didn’t even look at them, speaking the cruelest

words in the calmest voice.

He said: “Since you want to beg for mercy, then go to hell and atone to her.”

Accompanied by everyone’s terrified screams, the basement door was slammed shut.

When Alexander emerged from the basement covered in blood, Mila quickly stood up from the sofa.

“Alexander, I…” Before Mila could finish her words, she turned pale at the sight of the blood on him.

But Alexander completely ignored her, only looking toward the butler Parker Long nearby.

He asked: “Has my wife’s burial site been chosen?”

“Wife?” Mila looked at Alexander in shock. “Alexander, what do

you mean?”

Mila hurried forward to grab him, her eyes filled with disbelief. “Isn’t your future wife supposed to be me? I’m still alive.”

Looking at Mila, who was inexplicably losing her mind, Alexander’s eyes filled with displeasure.

How had he never noticed before that Mila was so

unreasonable?

Alexander said coldly: “Mila, my wife isn’t you-it’s Caroline.”

His simple words instantly drained all color from Mila’s face. “Alexander, you’ve lost your mind. How could she possibly be your wife? Don’t forget what her status was! Don’t tell me you actually fell for someone like that.”

Actually, Mila should have figured it out long ago. After all, ever since Caroline’s death, Alexander had become a completely different person.

Not only had he launched revenge against everyone who had ever hurt Caroline, but he also locked himself at home all day, holding Caroline’s corpse, eating and sleeping with it.

Even she, Alexander’s universally acknowledged fiancée, rarely got to see him.

At first, Mila didn’t take it seriously, thinking it was just temporary adjustment.

After all, even if you raised a dog for three years, you’d develop feelings for it, let alone a living person.

But after Mila went to the Scott mansion several times without seeing him, she finally panicked.

She looked at Alexander frantically, hoping he would deny it.

But Alexander just stared at her quietly with his deep gaze.

There wasn’t a ripple of emotion in his eyes.

Mila’s heart sank deeper and deeper, tears gradually filling her

eyes.

She said: “Did you really fall for her? What about me? I’ve waited for you for so long. As long as you got your revenge on her 99 times, we could be together. I waited for you for three years. But in the end, why did you fall for that bitch?”

“Mila!” Alexander finally couldn’t hold back and shouted, “Please show some respect for my wife.”

Mila, who had been crying about Alexander’s coldness, was startled by his roar and froze in place.

She demanded: “You actually yelled at me? Alexander, how dare

you!”
