Chapter 17
During this past month, Caroline had thought about escaping more than once.
But Alexander seemed to have installed a tracking device on her —no matter where she went, he could always find her.
He’d even stopped her work at the dance company to teach her a
lesson.
Of course, the excuse he gave Adeline wasn’t as harsh as before. He simply said they were reuniting after a long separation and wanted more time alone together, adding that she would naturally return to work after their wedding.
Yes, wedding.
At that press conference, Alexander hadn’t just announced Caroline’s fake death-he’d also revealed the joyful news of their wedding in one month.
Caroline had no idea about any of this, so after the press conference ended, she lost control and had a huge fight with
Alexander.
But even that couldn’t change the fact that Alexander intended to marry her.

Today, Alexander had brought her to this luxury boutique to select items for their wedding.
As for the wedding dress and such, Alexander had already arranged for private custom tailoring overnight.
At that moment, Alexander returned to the private room after paying, took her hand, and said with a gentle smile, “Let’s go.”
Caroline remained silent, letting him lead her out of the boutique and into the car.
Throughout the ride, the street scenes flew past the car window, yet they couldn’t erase the sorrow in Caroline’s eyes.
She didn’t want to marry Alexander-she refused to-but she had no way to escape him.
Was she really going to watch helplessly as she married someone she didn’t love?
Caroline’s clasped hands on her knees gradually tightened. She gripped so hard that her knuckles turned white.
As the wedding date drew closer, Caroline’s anxiety grew.
Alexander thought she was nervous about the wedding, so he made time to take her out for fun.

But halfway through, he received an urgent call from the
company.
He had no choice but to have Caroline go to the restaurant for dinner first, saying he’d join her after finishing his business.
When Alexander got out to say goodbye, he instinctively leaned in to kiss Caroline farewell.
She quickly turned her head away, and his kiss landed only on her cheek.
Alexander paused for a moment, then smiled and got out of the
car.
The instant the car door closed, the disgust in Caroline’s eyes finally showed completely.
She hurriedly pulled out a wet wipe from her bag and scrubbed vigorously at the cheek Alexander had kissed.
She didn’t stop until her cheek was red and swollen, nearly breaking the skin, before finally throwing the wipe away.
The evening restaurant was empty except for Caroline sitting alone by the window, along with the bodyguards dutifully stationed at every exit.
These bodyguards were supposedly for protection, but they were

After watching the bodyguards close the door, Caroline continued eating her dinner.
Just then, a server approached: “Miss, here’s the blueberry mousse you ordered.”
Caroline was confused-she hadn’t ordered any dessert.

Just as she was about to explain to the server, she looked up saw an extremely familiar face.

Caroline said uncertainly, “Mila?”
The “Mila” before her paused, then said, “I’m not her. I’m her sister, Ella Hall.”
Seeing Caroline’s wariness as she backed away, Ella let out a disdainful laugh.
She said, “What are you hiding from? I’m not like Mila-I won’t hurt you.”
Hearing this, Caroline lowered her guard and asked, “What do you want with me?”
Ella sat down across from Caroline, tapped the table with her finger, then said leisurely, “I’m here to settle things for Mila.”

In less than a week, Ella had uncovered the root cause of the Hall family’s current predicament.
She didn’t deny the mistakes Mira had made in this game, so she didn’t care about Mira going to prison.
The only thing that made Ella unwilling to accept the situation was that the real culprit hadn’t received any punishment and was even about to marry the woman he loved.
Mira had indeed proposed this game, but the one who actually took action multiple times and nearly killed Caroline was Alexander.
His dozens of acts of revenge were enough to keep him in prison until death, yet in the end, he received no punishment at all.
Ella was unwilling to accept this, but had no opportunity to expose his crimes.
After all, the Scott family now held great power, so no one was willing to offend Alexander.
At this moment, Ella finally found the right person and the right opportunity.
She said, “This USB drive contains all of Alexander’s criminal evidence from these past years, and on your wedding day, most
