“And now, I’d like to present my gift to Mrs. Bennett!”
I pulled out the divorce papers I had tucked behind me.
“In honor of Mr. Jordan and Miss Olivia’s epic romance–since Mrs. Bennett clearly adores Olivia-”
“I’ve decided to officially file for divorce today.”
“Wishing you two a lifetime of bliss… and may you be stuck with each other forever.”
The room fell into dead silence.
So sudden–no one even knew how to react.
A few days ago was our anniversary, and we looked like we were on the mend.
No one expected me, the one who always kept her head down in the Bennett household, to flip the
script this way.
Mrs. Bennett clutched her chest, pointing and yelling at me.
“You ungrateful little witch!”
“I always knew you weren’t fit for this family!”
Olivia shrank into Jordan’s arm like some frightened debutante. ·
“Mrs. Bennett, please don’t say that… how can I show my face after this?”
“This is your birthday party!”
And then, here came the leading man himself.
Jordan walked toward me slowly, face like a storm cloud, stopping right in front of me.
I tilted my chin up and flashed a dazzling smile.
“What do you think? Like it?”

His voice was low and cold.
“Say you’re sorry, right now, in front of everyone–and maybe I’ll forgive you.”
I laughed.
“Jordan, I’ve never been the type to settle for leftovers.”
His face froze.
I tossed the divorce papers in his face.
“You included.”
Gasps rippled through the crowd as I turned and walked out without looking back.
Back home, I packed my things and moved out of the Bennett mansion.
At my old place, I ripped out every rose bush, took down the useless porch swing, and even repainted the damn fence.
I had the withered oak tree dug up too.
When I looked around and saw there was nothing left of Jordan in that house-
I smiled.
Free at last.
The next time I saw Jordan was that Friday, at a professional networking event.
He had Olivia on his arm, grinning while clinking glasses with colleagues.
I arrived as a company representative, walking in with my boss.
Olivia strutted over like she owned the place, standing in front of me like she was planting a flag.
“Chloe, fancy seeing you here.”
I didn’t even glance her way–just kept chatting with my boss.
During dinner, Jordan started getting weird–pushing drink after drink on my boss.

I stepped in, intercepting glass after glass.
“Chloe, you’re still my wife, and you’re out here drinking for another man?”
He said it like I’d betrayed him.
He knew I couldn’t handle alcohol.
Back when we were married, I wrecked my stomach drinking at his business dinners just to support
him.
I ignored him and kept drinking whatever they sent my boss’s way.
Eventually, Jordan snapped–grabbed my boss by the collar.
“Chloe, is he the reason? You’re leaving me for him, is that it?!”
Olivia jumped in, pouring gas on the fire.
“Chloe, how could you do this to Jordan?”
“He’s been worried sick about you all week.”
Jordan’s face twisted with rage.
He raised his fist like he was about to take a swing-
And that’s when I threw my glass of red wine straight in his face.
“Jordan, you need to calm down.”
His favorite line.
Worked like a charm.
Paralyzed him for a good three minutes.
With that, I grabbed my purse and turned to leave with my boss.
But Jordan wasn’t done.
He came chasing after me.

“Chloe, don’t do this.”
“Fine, I messed up, okay?”
“Come back. Whatever you want–I’ll give it to you.”
I shook off his hand with pure disgust.
“Jordan, stop flattering yourself.”
Outside, my boss drove me home.
He looked like he wanted to say something–but didn’t.
Then pulled away into the night.
