Chapter 6 Mate
It was dark and the only light in the room was coming from a warm crackling fire in the stone fireplace. I was sleeping in a
real bed, with the most comfortable pillows and blankets. It’s been years since I slept in a real bed. Lifting the covers, I looked down to see that I was wearing a large shirt.
The ceiling was high and made of logs, I was in a cabin. It was a large single room log cabin with two oversized chairs
sitting by the fireplace. A small kitchen and a door to what I believe is a bathroom.

down.
“Are you sure?” I asked her.
“Yes, MATE brought us here.” She wagged her tail.
I heard some movement coming from inside the bathroom and a moment later the door swung open. He was standing in
the doorway with nothing, but a towel wrapped around his waist. I recognized those beautiful blue eyes and my breath
hitched in my throat. “Alpha!” I gasped.
“You’re awake.” He stepped to the side of the bed.
My eyes trailed up his abs, to his chest, chiseled jaw and back to his eyes. I had never dared to really look at him like this
before. He had a smirk on his face that told me that he knew I was checking him out.
“Mate is so handsome and he’s an Alpha!” Lia gushed.
Ranger sat down on the bed and leaned into my neck. He inhaled deeply, “Mine.” He growled in my ear as he peppered kisses on my neck. He pulled away and held my face in his hands staring deeply into my eyes. “Beautiful.” He whispered. My skin was tingling under his touch.
I looked down at my hands to try and hide my blush. “Where are we?” I managed to ask.
“My cabin on the pack grounds. I found you after your shift and brought you here, you’ve been sleeping all day.” He said.
“Oh, thank you.” I whispered.
“Rex has been hounding me all day to hold you.” He said as he moved closer.
“Who’s Rex?” I asked.
“My wolf.” He chuckled.
Lia purred at the mention of her mate.
“The old mutt wants to know your wolfs name.”
“Lia, her name is Lia.” I told him and Lia let out a joyous howl in my head.
Before I could say anything, Rangers eyes seemed to darken, and he kissed me. Sparks started tingling throughout my
body under his touch. His lips were demanding and tasted oh so sweet. I wasn’t sure exactly what to do but Lia kept
pushing me. My hands made their way to the top of his head and I ran my fingers through his hair, pulling him closer to me. Ranger let out a growl of approval.
He laid me back on the pillows and continued to deepen the kiss. His hand sent waves of tingles as he reached down my leg and trailed his way up. He moved to my neck, kissing and licking. A soft moan of pleasure slipped through my lips and my heart was pounding in my chest.

“Mate is so handsome.” Lia said to me.

a warrior like him, but I never got the chance.
“I can train, I can become stronger!” I said with tears running down my face.
“I’ve waited seven years to find my mate, now that I know you are unfit to be Luna, I need to select a strong she wolf for
the pack. A weak Luna makes us all weak, and we can’t risk that. I will not banish you Lucy, my wolf will not allow that.”
“Please don’t do this Ranger.” I begged.
“I am your Alpha! You are to address me as Alpha at all times.” He roared back at me as he stood up. “You will not tell
anyone about us, and you will continue to stay in the pack and work as normal.”
My heart felt like it was shattering into a million pieces.
Before I could say another word, he said the words I feared the most… “I, Ranger LaRue, Alpha of Dark Moon pack, reject
you Lucy Michaels, as my mate and Luna.”
Lia was howling in pain and my head was spinning. The pain from the mate bond breaking was unbearable, especially
after mating. I tried to stand with the blanket wrapped around me, but the pain in my chest brought me to my knees as I
screamed out loud. Trembling in pain, I crumbled to the ground, thankfully, the darkness consumed me.
