Chapter 13 – Escape
“I’ve been waiting to get you alone and now you just stumble right into the wolf’s den. What luck!” Eros smiled
at me.
“Why have you been looking for me, Eros?”
“Oh Raven, little Raven.” He sucked his teeth. “Seeing you this sexy little costume would make even the God Pan chase
after this tempting wood nymph.” He said as he lifted my mask from my face.
“What do you want from me?” I demanded.
He grabbed me harder around the waist and dragged me into his office. He threw me into an armchair, placed one hand on each side and leaned his crooked nose inches away from mine. “Tell
me, why are my men disappearing when they get close enough to you?” He asked.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I snapped back
“I’ve sent some of my best warriors after you and most don’t come back.” He stared intently at me.
This must have been what Niko was talking about. “Those were your best? They couldn’t tell the difference between a human
and wolf. They picked up the wrong girl.” I snarked back.
“Some might not be the smartest, but they are the strongest of the warriors” his voice was annoyed.
I could feel Rae inside ready to attack. She hated having him so close to us. “Let’s light his slimy ass up.” She said
to me.
“I need him alive for more information, I don’t think he’s working alone.” I told her.
“There’s a perfectly good toilet filled with water in the next
room, let’s water bubble him into talking.” Rae suggested to me. It wasn’t a bad idea, but I wasn’t exactly sure how to control it yet, I’d probably just kill him, which was also not a bad idea.
“My men are disappearing because the beast is obsessed with you. He killed his mate and now he wants you.” He said.
“And why exactly do you care if he wants me or not?” I said “Do you work for him?”
“Bhahahaha.” His laugh was maniacal. “What a ridiculous
notion that I would work for him. Oh no, my boss makes the
beast look like a kitten.” He smiled and leaned back against his desk.
“So why do you want me?”
He reached into a cigar box on his desk and pulled one out. He held it in his hands and smelled it. There was a knock on the
door and a man stepped in.

“The buyers are here, and the inerchandise is gone.” He said, “Where are the girls?” Eros growled at me.
“What girls?” I asked in my most innocent voice.
“Marty is dead.” The other wolf added. I assumed Marty must have been the wolf I water bubbled.
“The boss wants little Raven here dead, maybe I should let them have their fun with her. They came all this way and she let the merchandise go free.” His eyes flashed with anger.
“What should I tell them?” He asked Erbs.
“Tell them I’ll be down in twenty minutes. I’d like to have a taste of this little wolf first.” He said.
“Yes boss.” He nodded his head and left the office.
Eros lunged at me and I kicked him in the gut sending him
flying backwards. I made a run for the door and he grabbed the back of my headdress yanking it off. Then he grabbed a fist full of my hair and pulled me back. I looked up at his face and he
still had the unlit cigar in his mouth.
He tugged the front of my dress down and it ripped down the middle. I could feel my bra and cleavage exposed.
“What is this?” He noticed my lighter and reached into my bra to pull it out.
“Guess I’m not the only wolf who likes to smoke.” I said eyeing his cigar.
He pushed me back down in the chair and looked at me as if I was prey. Pacing in front of me, he looked at the lighter in his hand and flipped the lid open. The cigar was still in his mouth, he brought the lighter to the end of the cigar and flicked it on.
There was a loud commotion coming from downstairs and the
sound of gun fire. Eros‘ eyes flared with anger and I knew it was time to make my exit. I willed the fire at the tip of the cigar to
expand and burn. Eros let out a scream as the side of his face caught fire and the room filled with the smell of burning hair.
I bolted for the door and could hear the fighting downstairs. I
ran down the stairs and heard the sound of guns firing. Before I could actually see what was happening, I was tossed to the‘
ground with a heavy body laying on top of me.
“Be careful, those are silver bullets they’re using.” Niko told me.
“What are you doing here?” I asked. “Rescuing you.
“I was doing just fine.”
“Yes, I can see that. Come on, my bike is in the back.”
We ran out through the back door and Niko jumped on his
motorcycle and fired it up. I hopped on and we took off. Niko was bobbing and weaving between all the people at the festival.

“Hang on tight, we’re about to take some stairs.” Niko called to me and I squeezed my arms tighter around his waist. The stairs in the Plaka were narrow and made of stones. We weren’t
moving as fast as I wanted because of all the people and
festivities. I looked back and caught a glimpse of a wolf running on the roof tops trying to keep up with us.
We took a turn and came face to face with some of Eros‘ goons who were also on motorcycles. “We’ve got company!” I yelled to Niko.
We turned back around and cut into the parade, riding along side of the floats. We accidentally knocked over some bobble head
costumed characters. I looked over my shoulder and saw they
were gaining on us, but they couldn’t shoot or shift without the humans noticing.
One of the floats had fire baton twirling on it and I continued to look over my shoulder waiting for the perfect time. Just as the
goon’s bike got close enough under the float, I sent a flame shooting down from the baton to the top of his head. He lost control of his bike and skidded, the motorcycle behind him crashed into him and sent the driver flying off.
We made it out of the Plaka district and raced north, a black Mercedes swung out behind us and was joined by two
more
motorcycles. Someone from the car started shooting at us and Niko turned down a narrow street of food vendors that would
not accommodate a vehicle. The two motorcycles followed us as we made our way north to Kotzia square by the city hall
building.
There was a big water fountain in the square and Niko zipped right by it. I turned my head and willed the water from the
fountain to rise and fall on the two motorcycles chasing us. They went slipping and sliding into each other.
“Suckers!” I heard Rae say.
We continued north on the main road and the Mercedes swerved out behind us again. I heard a gun fire and a bullet zipped just passed my ear. Niko pulled up next to the car ahead of us and
passed it moving to the front. The black Mercedes squeezed next to the car behind us and bumped it out of the way. Niko took a sharp corner and the Mercedes did the same.
Another gunshot ripped through the air and the mirror on our bike was hit. I spotted a restaurant up ahead with outdoor
dining, which means that candles would be on the tables. I set my eyes on a flame willing it to grow larger and flying at the shooter hanging out the window.
He was soon engulfed in flames and the driver of the vehicle jumped out of the still moving car. The Mercedes hit
another
parked car and exploded in flames. Car alarms went off, people came rushing out from the buildings and Niko was completely unaware of what I had just done.

We continued riding north for another hour. I wasn’t exactly

sure where we were going but I knew that returning to my dorm wouldn’t be a good idea. I had just killed several mafia
henchmen and set the underboss on fire. Worst of all, these weren’t humans, they were the most despicable and lethal wolves I’ve ever met.
I wondered if Leo and Rocky were okay, how Angela was doing and if the police were called. As much as I enjoyed my time in Greece, I knew these would be my last days here As soon as my father hears about it, I would be on a plane home.
“Home sounds great right now.” Rae said to me.
“I should have just picked the college in San Diego.” I told Rae bitterly.
I pressed myself up against Niko’s back for warmth, my costume was so thin, I was practically naked. The hum of the motorcycle was soothing, other cars had become few and far between. The
further we got away from Athens, the safer I felt.
Niko turned the motorcycle down an old road in the woods,
wondered if he was taking me to a hideout or somewhere to kill me.
“If he wanted to kill us, he would have done it already, he’s had plenty of opportunities.” Rae reminded me.
A howl ripped through the air and several wolves ran in our
direction. I was ready to reach for my lighter and start fighting when I realized that Niko was very relaxed. A few of the wolves came out and ran along side of the motorcycle as if they
were
escorting us. Niko continued to drive, and I could see a light come into view in the distance.
This was pack territory and we finally pulled to a stop in front of a huge mansion.
