Chapter 10 – Dimitri
Dimitri’s POV
The last thing I ever wanted was a mate. I had always believed that if I found my mate, I would reject her. If I was unable to reject her due to the pull of the mate bond, I would simply have someone kill her and be done with all of that nonsense.
When my mother was taken and tortured, my father lost his mind. A mate is a liability to an Alpha and a weakness that could destroy him. We saw this happen with my father. I cannot afford to have a weakness in my armor in the form of a mate.
And then… she danced right into my life.
When I saw her at the club, my wolf Dom, actually tried to fight me for control. He wanted to run over and scent her. She was beautiful but young, I liked my women more experienced. I’m twenty–six and have enjoyed many mistresses in my years, but never had a real relationship. I certainly had no intention of getting attached to anyone, not even this raven haired kitten.
I watched her dance, the way her body moved, the way her long hair bounced. Maybe I was just attracted to
her and nothing more. I tried to fool myself, but Dom was no dummy. I moved to the edge of the balcony and
looked down at her. I just needed her to look up and make eye contact, then I would know for sure. I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
That two–bit sleazeball must have noticed my reaction to her and tried to dance with her. I saw him lift her bracelet off her wrist and knew he was up to no good. Dom let out a growl and she must have sensed my anger, she fled with her friends.
I mind linked my Delta, who was outside with the car, her description and instructed him to follow her home. Then I cornered Eros and reached into his shirt pocket, pulling out her bracelet. I resisted the urge to pummel him with so many humans around. He may have been an Alpha, but he was no match for me, and he knew it. Eros is dangerous to humans and enjoys playing little mafia games in their world. He’s as dirty and corrupt as they come. A real wolf in cheap clothing. Dom hated seeing him so close her and I couldn’t understand why. Perhaps it was because she was a young and attractive little thing. I should have just walked away and left well enough alone, but I just couldn’t. I needed to know more about her.
An hour later, my Delta Spiro, had returned to inform me that she was a university student and living in the dorm. I gave him the bracelet and asked him to return it in the morning and find out what he could about her. The dorm advisor had recognized her/description, taken the bracelet from him, and refused to give him any information on her.
I put my Beta Niko, on watch duty and later that night he linked me to tell me she was out running with her friends. They ran towards the forest by the monastery and Dom demanded we go run. Something beyond curiosity was pulling me to her.
I shifted and ran through the forest trying to pick up her scent. I knew she was with two others, but I couldn’t scent them. They must have been masking their scents with Evvie tea. I haven’t had any in over a week, so my scent was strong in the air.

I found three sets of clothing near the tree line and her scent hit me like a ton of bricks! Sweet honeysuckle and vanilla. Dom wanted his mate and let out a loud howl as I fought him for control.
My Beta Niko, Gamma Alec and Delta Spiro all rotated watching her. Alec had followed her to the museum and through the Plaka from the rooftops. Eros had a man following her too and Alec ripped his throat out before he could get his hands on her.
My father’s old Beta and Niko’s uncle, Kosta, took her home. I grew up with Kosta, he was a good man, but left the pack when my father went mad. Kosta was a fighting legend in his prime and now worked as security. Anyone who hired him was either really important or royal.
The following day Kosta took her out to Delphi. Niko tried to coax an introduction but Kosta wasn’t falling for it. Over the next few weeks, we watched as Kosta made frequent visits to the dorm advisors apartment. Either she was working for him or he was sleeping with her. We also watched as Eros‘ men circled around, if Eros was so determined then he must have known something about her that we didn’t.
Spiro was watching her when she left the university library late at night. He watched her enter a taverna and the other girl, with long dark hair, walked back alone. A car stopped abruptly and yanked her friend in. Spiro wanted to follow but needed to stay on his assignment.
Eros was getting bold and the shifter’s had become worried about his carelessness. In the beginning, packs traded or sold low ranking omegas into pack slavery. They would do the cooking and the cleaning for the packs. If they were very attractive, they might become a pack mistress. Then it expanded to humans and trafficking arms and drugs. Most shifter’s have stopped dealing with Eros and would like to see the black market fold. But the money from human trafficking has allowed Eros and his boss to build an empire.
I was snoozing in bed when Alec mind linked me, she was going out for the day with her two friends and was at the boat docks. He watched her board a ferry for Agistri and I had him get the speed boat ready.
It didn’t take us long to catch up to them. We also spotted two of Eros‘ men, wolves, following closely. Alec and I split up to watch from different places, fortunately, we had taken Evvie tea to mask our scents so Eros‘ wolves wouldn’t pickup our scents.
I sat at the outdoor beach bar and watched them from a distance. She looked so hot in that little turquoise bikini and it bothered me that others could see her too. This was crazy, I just needed to get close enough, to look into her eyes and then I would know for sure.
“What do you need to know for sure? That’s our mate! I know it.” Dom snapped at me. He was sure, but I still wanted to look into her eyes.
Alec sat under a shade tree on the other side reading a book and trying to look like he belonged there. “What are you reading?” I asked through the mind link.
“The only book I could find in the lost and found at the port information desk.” He said.
“Yes, but you haven’t looked up for nearly an hour, it must be good.” I linked back.
“It’s classical English literature.” He replied.
“Good grief, you aren’t reading Pride and Prejudice, are you?” I laughed.
“No.” he laughed back. “It’s Sense and Sensibility.”
A few moments later, I was ready to order another beer, but they started getting up, ready to leave.

“They’ll be heading your way to get some food,” Alec linked me, and I moved.
“Have you seen the goons?” I asked.
“They’re back in the woods, watching as well.” He said.
I walked around the village and stopped at a tavern to use the restroom. When I came out, I had lost visual of them. “Where are they?” I asked Alec through the link.
“They’re on the back patio at Raina’s but she went downstairs alone. I don’t see her, and the goons moved
fast.” He said.
If she stepped away from her friends, they could try and take her. Where the hell did she go? I heard a cat meowing loudly and I suddenly stood still inhaling her scent. She crashed right into me and my first instinct was to hold her to my chest.
Dom was howling in my head. What the hell was wrong with him, she can’t be our mate.
“Then why are you so obsessed with her?” Dom snickered at me.
“Excuse me.” She said, her voice was music to my ears. She looked right up at me with those beautiful blue eyes and I knew. f**k!
I fought the urge to kiss her and felt myself getting annoyed at my own weakness. Then I caught a glimpse of the two goons following her that stood watching us. I stepped away from her and quickly made my way to them. They ran behind the building, into a back alleyway.
A moment later, I had them both pinned to the ground with my canines and claws extended. One of them pulled a silver blade out and tried to stab me. I grabbed his arm and forced him to drive the blade in his own
neck.
“Who sent you?” I asked the other one still breathing.
“f**k you!” He growled.
“I’m afraid you’re not my type.” I snarled back.
“But she is, isn’t she? You can’t watch her all the time!” He smiled before I snapped his neck.
“Alec, I’ve neutralized the goons. You can go and get something to eat before we head back.” I linked my
Gamma.
“You want anything?” He asked.
“I’m good, going to grab souvlaki at the stand on the corner and then go for a quick run.” I replied.
I sat at the north end of the docks eating my chicken souvlaki pita. I couldn’t stop thinking about her and it worried me. I never wanted a mate for this exact reason. Eros must have already figured out my connection to her and wanted her. Why did he want her? Eros and I usually stayed in our own separate lanes.
“She’s an adorable little creature.” Dom practically purred at me.
“What the f**k, are you a cat all of the sudden?” I’ve never heard him sound so soft and I’m sure that was a
purr.
My scent had been masked and my eyes were behind dark sunglasses, she might not be aware that she’s my mate. I walked towards the forest and stepped out of my clothes before I shifted. I let Dom run off some steam and he really wanted to find his mate and claim her. “I’m picking up her scent.” He told me.

“We can’t approach her; she’ll be with her friends. Let’s see if we can find their things and get an 1.0. on her
told him.
Minutes later, I found her dress and backpack. I shifted back at a bush and quickly opened her bag up. Money, magazine, towel, sunglasses, cell phone, vanilla lip balm and a lighter. Why did she have a lighters She doesn’t smoke. No identification, DAMN!
I shifted back and Dom started sniffing her clothes and rolled around on them. “ENOUGH!” I yelled at him. He then picked up a piece of her swimsuit in his mouth and we ran back to our clothes.
When I shifted, I noticed that Dom had grabbed her bikini bottom. I stared at it for a moment and then lifted it to my nose. Big mistake! Her scent sent a burning desire for her shooting through my body.
I’m in big f*****g trouble!
