Chapter 42 Loss
–
An earth shaking growl ripped out of Lia’s mouth and her teeth were bared. Wolves across the field turned their heads mid–fight looking for the source of the God like growl. Some even stopped dead in their tracks, unable to move, in awe of the mythical wolf standing before them.
Ramos seemed to lose his confidence the closer he got to me. Lia radiated power beyond any Alpha. Payton took advantage of this distracted moment to jump on Ramos and sink her teeth in the back of his neck. He growled in pain and managed to throw her black wolf off. Payton rolled back up and was ready to charge again when Max let out an angry growl, snarling and challenging Ramos. Ramos circled slowly taking in the size of Max’s wolf, Milo, they were almost the same size. He reared up on his hind legs and lunged at Max.
I threw out a ring of fire that trapped three of the charging wolves and pounced on the others. Lia fought several rouges at once, clawing and ripping out throats with ease. I was able to manipulate fire in wolf form and continued to set rogues on fire. Diesel was sending balls of snow flying into the faces of the enemy to distract them momentarily, for an easy take down.
Alpha Knox was fighting three rogues at once and howled in pain when a rogue ripped some flesh from his shoulder. Lia pounced higher than I’ve ever seen her jump and landed on the rogue, knocking him off. She grabbed a hold of his neck and ripped his head right off. Alpha Knox plunged his claws in the neck of the rogue under him and Lia did the same to another.
“You’re bleeding a lot. You should get back to the castle.” I mind linked Alpha Knox.
“It’s just a scratch. I’m not leaving my grand pups.” He linked back.
Elliot and Payton were fighting back to back. Diesel was fast and ruthless. Rogue bodies were falling quickly, and our fighters were winning. The fighters from Eclipse pack put up a good fight, but they were outnumbered. Without Alpha Jordan here, they will not surrender.
Max and Ramos were still fighting. Ramos had his claws in Max’s back and Max sent him flying in the air. Ramos crashed into another fight and landed on a rogue. He jumped back up and lunged at Max trying to sink his teeth into Max’s neck. Max’s claws extended and he dug them deep into Ramos’s chest. Ramos fell lifeless to the ground and Max ripped his head completely off before he went to help his mate.
I turned my back to find the bonfire had been tipped over and a few warriors from Eclipse pack were trying hard to bury the rest of the fire with snow. I let out an angry roar and lunged at the warriors. Diesel growled and jumped on two of them. He noticed the source of my power was out and mind linked Zeke,
“Zeke we need some fire out here, can you light a torch?”
Zeke’s voice came back weak and panting. “Alpha, l–I’ve been shot. Silver bullet. Jor–Jordan is in castle.”
I turned and started running back to the castle. I could feel Diesel and Alpha Knox running behind me. The
castle doors were open, and Jordan stepped out. He had at least a dozen Eclipse warriors flanked behind
him. How did he get in the castle I wondered? Was he hiding in the castle this entire time?
“There must be another passage we haven’t discovered yet.” Lia said.
Jordan stood in human form on the castle steps, holding a gun in his right hand. His warriors shifted and

lunged towards us. Diesel was fighting off four warriors and three others jumped on Alpha Knox.
“Shall we make this a fair fight?” Jordan smirked at me.
He lifted his right arm and pointed the gun at me. A single shot fired off and it hit my shoulder. I felt a slight sting, but silver had no effect on me. A big black Alpha wolf, with piercing blue eyes came running out of the castle from behind Alpha Jordan and lunged at him. It was Ranger.
Jordan fell down the stairs and shifted into his wolf. He was black with brown patches and his eyes were green. He looked absolutely nothing like a LaRue Alpha. Ranger snarled at him and lunged with his claws extended. I did not have a fire source, so I pounced on the warriors and plunged my claws in. I heard a yelp coming from Diesel, a warrior had clamped down on his back leg.
“OH, HELL NO!” Lia snarled. She quickly ripped out the throats of the other warriors and lunged to help her
mate.
Ranger was attacked by another warrior while fighting with Jordan. Jordan rolled himself on the ground and shifted back to human form. He reached for the gun at the bottom of the stairs. Ranger dropped the lifeless
body of the warrior and turned towards Jordan. Ranger was emitting a dangerous aura and was ready to
send Jordan to hell.
Jordan scooted back on the ground and raised his right hand towards Ranger. Jordan held the gun up and pulled the trigger before Ranger could pounce on him. In a flash I saw Kruz, Alpha Knox’s wolf, jump towards Ranger, pushing him out of the way. The bullet hit Kruz in the chest and he dropped on the ground, shifting
back to human form.
“NO!! PLEASE MOON GODDESS, NO!” I screamed in my head.
Ranger stood motionless and a low sorrowful howl came from Rex. Diesel dropped the last warrior and Duke stood next to me. I frantically searched his chest for the wound and wondered if I could pull the bullet out with my fingers. Silver inside the body was toxic to a werewolf. I shifted back to human form. “Alpha? ALPHA, can you hear me?” I asked.
“WE NEED DOCTOR ROSS!” I yelled out to Diesel, but he knew nothing could be done.
Ranger lowered his wolf head to his father’s shoulder and whimpered.
Alpha Knox’s voice was low. “It’s okay Lucy.” He took a shaky breath. “I–I’m going to be with m–my Clair soon. Tak–Take care of them for–for me.”
“Alpha, Alpha, stay with us… please.” My eyes filled with tears. This man who had become a second father to me, laid dying before me. Taken away just like my mother. Stolen from us before he had the chance to hold his grand pups. This isn’t fair.
My heart was racing. The grief was unbearable. Alpha Knox always believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. He was patient and kind. He loved and respected all of us. He was the center of our family. Alpha
their Knox drew his last breath and painful howls ripped out from Diesel, Payton and Ranger at the los father’s connection. My heart ached and I could hardly contain it.
I stood up and stepped back. A half scream half growl ripped out of me. A storm was brewing inside of me. My body was pulsing and there was a burning in my chest.
“Lucy your eyes are glowing.” Diesel mind linked me.
A bright light engulfed me, and I looked down to my hands as sparks shot from my fingertips. Fire! I had

internal fire, a gift from Apollo. I was a true descendant of the Gods. Alpha Knox always told me I could do
this.
I imagined fire shooting out from my palms and it happened. I was able to generate my own flames. I willed the flames to surround me and they did. I was a walking ball of fire. A small burning sun, radiating power and no one could touch me. No one could hurt me. I wasn’t going to let anyone hurt my family again. I looked to find Jordan and saw that coward running away towards the woods in wolf form.
“JORDAN!” My voice rang out across the territory, shaking the ground, emanating the power of the Gods I had tapped into.
He turned his head and looked at me, I could sense his fear. Rage burned through me and flames shot out of my eyes towards Jordan. His wolf was immediately engulfed in fire and howling in pain. He dropped and shifted back, screaming as he burned.
It wasn’t enough, I needed more. The pain was too much to contain and revenge was mine. I saw Ramos’s decapitated body on the ground and burned it. I looked around and saw other rogue bodies, I burned them
too.
The remaining rogues and Eclipse warriors stopped fighting and started running back up the ridge. My heart was full of pain and I couldn’t seem to find compassion for those trying to escape. They had come all this way with the intention of first attacking the vulnerable members of our pack and helpless pups. These were monsters and they did not belong in this world. Fire continued to pour out of me as I set the remaining cowards on fire.
EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM BURNED.
I let out a scream, that shook the ground. I was burning with rage and grief. I wasn’t sure how to control it. A power so great, it could destroy armies. The power and wrath of the Gods pulsed through me. “Lucy?” Diesel called out my name.
I looked at him, he was back in human form. He reached out his hand and his eyes were swimming with so much emotion. I felt his pain, his grief, his guilt, his fear, his admiration and his overwhelming love. I looked around and the war was over. We may have won, but we had also lost.
“Lucy, Please.” Diesel called to me again. Desperation in his voice to hold me. He needed me and I needed him. I closed my eyes and willed the fire to stop. His arms immediately embraced me, and I collapsed.
