Chapter 38- Cousin
Diesel’s POV
I opened my eyes and the room was spinning. I could hardly hold my head up. I could feel Duke, he was
weakened. What the f**k did he inject me with?

I looked around the room to try and figure out where I was. It definitely wasn’t the coat closet. I was in a rocky dungeon or cave. The only light came from a single torch on the wall. My wrists were burning from heavy silver. I heard someone moving and felt a kick to my ribs.
“Look who’s finally awake.” I heard a gruff voice say. I recognized that voice and his scent, his scent was fresh cut grass and oak.
My eyes focused and his face became clear. “YOU! IT WAS YOU?” I growled in disgust.
“You can call me cousin.” He said and punched me in the jaw.
“Uncle Titus didn’t have any children.” I said as I struggled against the silver chains he had around my wrists. I wanted to rip his f*****g throat out.
“Funny, your brother said the same thing before I killed him.” He laughed.
He killed Ranger? If he had killed Ranger, Duke would have felt the connection break. Maybe we didn’t feel it because Ranger was wolfless.
“My mother was his mistress, Jessica Monroe. I may not have the filthy LaRue last name, but I am still Alpha born and his only heir. He was so obsessed with having elemental born pups that it made him mad. After you killed my father, I made it my mission to take this pack and castle back.”
“You should have been brave enough to challenge me if you wanted Crescent Moon, Alpha Jordan.” I spat.
“How would that be fair? You have elemental power. Oh no, I was waiting for you to find your mate so I could kill her and weaken you before I challenged you. While I waited, I took over the Eclipse Pack. I made alliances with rogues and I discovered a perfect combination of wolfsbane and night shade to poison even the strongest of Alpha’s.”
“My Luna is stronger than you Jordan. She won’t let you have Crescent Moon.” I growled.
“Oh, my dear cousin, after the abuse your brother put her through and after the devastation of losing you, I will be the comforting friend and Alpha she remembers. With the help of a love potion she will be mine soon.” He oozed.
“Lucy would never.” I growled back. He was a delusional bastard.
Lucy will light his ass up as soon as she smells him! Jordan picked up a silver blade and sliced the side of my waist. The warmth of blood ran down my side and the deep cut burned.
“My father had searched for an elemental wolf to breed. I had heard about Lucy’s mother being elemental, but
I wasn’t sure if Lucy would have the gift too. I paid Ursa to keep tabs on her over the years-”
A roar ripped through me; I was going to rip Ursa to shreds as soon as I get out of here!

Jordan smiled at me. “When I visited Dark Moon, I had Lucy stay for lunch and sat her on my lap. It was so much fun watching Ranger struggle with his wolf as I fed her lunch. I was able to shift her hair to the side and saw the mark on her neck. Just like yours.”
I growled at him and he plunged the dagger into my thigh, twisting it. Duke howled in my head as the pain
burned.
“Your asshole brother nearly killed her before I could get my hands on her. When she ran away from Dark Moon, I put out a bounty on her, but she escaped my rogues. As luck would have it, she turned up at Crescent Moon and is now your mate. I have paid Ranger back for all the abuse he put her through. When they find your body, I will plant Ranger with you. It will look like he killed you and then died from his injuries after or
vice versa.”
“Where’s Ranger?” I asked.
“What’s wrong? Missing your big brother all of the sudden? HE’S DEAD!”
“How did you convince Athena to help you?” I asked.
“Athena?… I almost forgot about Athena. She wasn’t working for me, the only thing she’s guilty of is f*****g your brother. She’s actually being held by the rogues as entertainment.” He laughed.
“Why are you working with rogues? You have a good sized pack?”
“Eclipse is only a quarter of the size as your pack. Rogues could be very useful allies when compensated nicely and always willing to get their hands dirty. When the Luna goes on the traditional midnight pack run tonight, they will attack the beloved elders and pups first to weaken your fighters. Without an Alpha to lead them, they will be weak enough to submit.”
“If you want this pack, why would you kill the people and pups you’re supposed to protect?” I asked. “Because they willingly accepted you four years ago when you killed my father. They should have turned on you and they showed him no loyalty.” He growled.
“I challenged him and beat him fairly; you know our laws.” I said.
“YOU ARE ELEMENTAL! HOW IS THAT FAIR?” He yelled and plunged the silver dagger in my other thigh.
“I didn’t not use my waterpower at all, it was a fair fight. You can ask the elders-”
“LIES!” He screamed.
“Before I kill you, I want you to know how much I’m going to enjoy f*****g your mate over and over again, until she bears my seed.”
A roar ripped through me and I felt it reverberate off the walls and echo back. I realized we were in a cava The mountains in my territory are covered in snow this time of year, surely there had to be some water dripping into the cave or some snow near the cave opening.
“Don’t you already have twin pups?” I asked.

“Two girls, worthless like their mother! I killed her right after their birth. Then last month, the Moon Goddess thought she’d have a laugh at my expense, and I met my second chance mate.”
“You have a second chance mate? The Moon Goddess blessed you a second time?” I asked with obvious shock in my voice. Very few people received a second chance mate, why would she give him another mate

after he killed the first?
“Shocking I know! I could hardly believe it myself. Miranda was all too happy to leave Ranger after he lost his wolf. I accepted her to torture him, but it didn’t seem to have an effect on him. She will of course have an unfortunate accident once I secure Lucy.”
This guy was just as unhinged as my uncle Titus. Maybe they were related after all? Miranda was still Max’s sister, even though she was a power hungry b***h, she still didn’t deserve Jordan. I wanted to know if anyone else was working with him and how he was getting in and out of the castle.
“So, Athena wasn’t working with you? Then who was? How did you get the notes into the castle?”
“The castle has secret passages. It was fun watching you send the patrols out looking for an intruder when I was hiding right under your nose.”
There must be one in that damn closet, that’s why I kept scenting him there. I started to feel Duke stir a little. “Duke are you there?” I asked.
“Yes, I’m trying to heal you quickly, the night shade was strong. Don’t let him see we’re getting stronger.” He
told me.
“Jordan, if you kill me, there’s no need to attack the pack, those people are innocent.” I said and started
coughing.
“Your Luna should be getting ready for the run and the attack should be starting in the next ten minutes. I’m going to have to give you another dose of this miracle juice, so I can join in the fun and make sure you don’t escape. I’d like to rip your fathers head off to honor mine.”
Another growl ripped through me; this bastard wanted to kill my father. “Are you even sure Titus was your father? You don’t seem to have a resemblance to him or even the LaRue genes. Every male for generations has had the raven hair and blue eyes.” I told him.
“MY MOTHER WAS NOT A w***e!” He growled.
“Of course not, just a mistress right?” I replied.
“Duke it’s now or never buddy.” I told him hoping he could give me the extra push I needed to draw some water into the cave and fight this bastard.
I closed my eyes and tried really hard to pull the element; Jordan noticed. “Nice try Diesel, I have just the right thing for you.” He said as he held up a syringe. He stepped forward to lower it and I kicked my legs out and knocked him down. He rolled over and picked up the syringe again and stalked towards me.
oved A thunderous angry roar ripped through the cave and I could feel the whole mountain shake. I saw two eyes in the shadows of the entrance, and they looked like they had flames burning in the pupils. The eyes forward, and a big angry golden wolf stepped into the cave.
“THAT’S MY MATE!” Duke barked in my head, so happy to see her.
Jordan stood speechless for a moment taking her in.
“Is this some trick?” He wasn’t sure if this was an illusion. She bared her teeth at him and growled. Lia radiated such power and anger that it made me want to kneel and submit. I could see Jordan struggling with the same feeling.
“She’s going to rip your head off.” I said.

Jordan was eyeing the exit and considering his escape. Lia moved closer to let him know there was no way out. He was still holding the silver knife and in a flash, he threw it at my chest aiming for my heart.
Lia leaped in front of me and the knife plunged into her side. A howl ripped through me as my mate landed at my feet. “LUCY!”
