Soon, no one could tell what was true anymore.
The debate raged, splitting the pack.
Some backed Vivian. A legal bond doesn’t lie-she was Alpha Adrian’s true mate, no question. Vanessa, from the evidence, didn’t come off as the saint Evelyn claimed; she reeked of homewrecker vibes. Plus, with Alpha Adrian siding with his mate against his own mother at a time like this? That didn’t scream disappointment in
Vivian. It screamed guilt for betraying her.
Others rooted for Vanessa. A rich she-wolf, they said, loves with reckless passion. Maybe she didn’t know she
was the other she-wolf, caught up in love before she could pull back. She knelt for Alpha Adrian, took slaps without flinching-her love was bone-deep. And if Vanessa had wronged Evelyn, why would Evelyn defend
her? It didn’t add up.
The circus dragged on for two, three days.
Netizens waited, glued to their screens for the next episode.
But the main players-Vivian, Alpha Adrian, the Quinns-went radio silent, no new statements.
Elliot and Frank kept tabs on the drama, quietly updating Alpha Gideon.
Alpha Gideon’s reaction? Cool as ever, though he listened to every word.
Early morning, Vivian rolled out of bed, stretching on the balcony overlooking the sea.
She hadn’t checked the comments, hadn’t touched her phone-it was off, buried in her bag.
But she could guess how it was playing out.
The internet was a game: master the rules, play the angles, and your opponent could do the same. Truth and
lies blurred into a foggy mess.
Two nights ago, she’d driven all night, reaching her grandma’s pack by morning. She ate, then crashed for a
full day.
Only this morning did she feel wolf again.
Her grandma’s place was in a small fishing pack, the sea right outside. Her parents had been here a few days
-her dad was out fishing with her uncle, her mom helping her grandma dry fish.
From the second-floor balcony, Eleanor and her mom caught sight of Vivian stretching and sighed in unison.
“Vivian’s been through hell, and we can’t do a damn thing,” Eleanor said, her chest tight. Then, a spark hit her,
and she turned to her mother, holding a fish. “Mom, what if we go to the sprawling pack of Ydoria and tell the
Ashbournes about Vivian? We can’t protect her, but they can.”
Agatha Wexley’s grip tightened on the dried fish in her hand.
“No way,” she said firmly. “When Madam Ashbourne entrusted Vivian to me, she made it clear: she didn’t care about wealth or status, just that her pup stays safe.”
“But she’s not safe now!” Eleanor’s eyes reddened. “I can’t stand this. We raised her to be sharp, kind,

beautiful-like a flower. She’s my heart. But look at her now-her bond’s a wreck, she’s being torn apart, and it’s all because we’ve got no pull, no power! If the Ashbournes knew she was theirs, would anyone dare treat
her like this? Evelyn would probably be kissing up to her!”
Agatha sighed heavily. “The Ashbourne den’s a pit of wolves and vipers. Right now, Vivian’s just taking some heat. If she goes back to them, she might not come out alive.”
“Drop it. Especially in front of Vivian-don’t breathe a word of this. Got it?”
