Chapter 38
Alpha Gideon’s lips curled in a cold smile.
His deep, unreadable eyes fixed on Martin.
“You’re that sure I won’t find her?”
Martin sat back down, his voice laced with grievance.
“If you want to pin a crime on me, you’ll find a way. Want to fire me, Alpha Gideon? Just say it. No need for
baseless accusations!”
“I’m asking about Vivian’s whereabouts!”
Alpha Gideon’s hand slammed the table, his demeanor shifting from inscrutable to razor-sharp in an instant.
Martin’s pupils flickered, but he quickly regained his composure, doubling down with a defiant tone.
“I don’t know where she is! If you’re saying I’m involved, show me proof!”
His words rang out, bold and unyielding.
Alpha Gideon’s anger subsided, his face icing over.
His heart grew cold too.
He’d pushed hard to catch Martin’s gut reaction, and unlike Walter’s panic, Martin showed no fear-only a
fleeting smirk when Alpha Gideon asked if he was sure Vivian couldn’t be found.
Is she really gone for good?
Alpha Gideon’s fist clenched.
“I’ve got a bad habit,” he said.
“I protect my own. Anyone who touches them, evidence or not, I’ll bury them. Martin, you seem eager to find
out how.”
Martin met Alpha Gideon’s eyes-cold, lifeless, like he was already a corpse-and swallowed hard.
What’s to fear? Walter locked her up, and she chose to jump. Not my fault! he reassured himself.
“Alpha Gideon, I get you’re worried about Vivian. We all are,” Martin said.
“You want to take it out on someone, fine-pick me and Walter. We won’t complain. Just don’t drag the others into this. They’ve done nothing wrong.”
He pressed on, voice heavy with emotion.
“We’ve poured our hearts into this pack branch, and for one she-wolf, you’re treating loyal wolves like this? It’s breaking our spirits.”

brewing.
Martin was stoking the crowd, especially Camilla.
Her expression darkened, resentment plain as day.
Alpha Gideon’s aura radiated lethal frost.

Elliot, who’d stepped out to take a call, returned with a spark of hope, leaning to whisper to Alpha Gideon.
“Walter cracked. She’s at his old family den.”
“Alpha Adrian’s headed there. Take a team, search a five-mile radius around the house,” Alpha Gideon
ordered.
“But it’s by the sea.”
Alpha Gideon’s chest tightened, the chill sinking deeper, almost to his bones.
Dumped in the ocean?
She’d be nearly impossible to find.

Elliot, seeing Alpha Gideon’s grim face-no trace of relief-had a sinking feeling.
No time to dwell. He rushed out, following orders to search the area.
The room’s wolves exchanged glances, puzzled by the hushed exchange and Elliot’s hasty exit.
Did they find her?
The guilty ones broke into fresh sweats.
Martin sneered inwardly.
Walter, that useless mutt, must’ve spilled.
Feigning concern, he asked, “Any news on Vivian?”
Alpha Gideon caught the flicker of mockery at the corner of Martin’s mouth.
If he could, he’d channel Alpha Adrian’s temper and crack the scumbag’s skull open.
“There is,” Alpha Gideon said slowly, watching Martin’s face stiffen before continuing. “Scared, Martin?”
Martin blinked, then laughed.
“Scared? I’m thrilled if she’s found! Clears my name-great news!”
Keep dreaming, pup. If you find her, it’ll be a corpse.
“Why’s Vivian so important?”
Camilla exploded,,slamming her bag on the table.
She’d had enough of watching Alpha Gideon fret over another she-wolf.

He’d never been this worked up for anyone.
Alpha Gideon’s eyes met hers, stern and commanding.
“Do you know why she went to the factory? Or why she’s missing?”
Camilla scoffed, hurt fueling her words.

“I’m the branch GM! Why should I care about some secretary barely three days on the job? But you, the pack empire’s alpha, making a circus over her? People might think she’s your mate!”
“Camilla, if you spent half the energy you waste on me on actual work, you wouldn’t be this clueless,” Alpha
Gideon shot back.
Her eyes reddened, stung by his mockery. “Clueless? Fine, I’m done! I’m calling the chairman to quit!”
She dialed Charles Hartley, Alpha Gideon’s father, putting it on speaker.
Alpha Gideon watched, unfazed, not stopping her.
When the call connected, Camilla poured out everything-how Alpha Gideon was stirring chaos, obsessing over a new secretary, painting him as a reckless alpha and Vivian wrecking the pack.
Martin chimed in, ensuring his voice carried, feigning distress as he answered Charles’s questions, his tone dripping with woe.
In the end, he sighed. “Charles, if Camilla quits, I’m out too. Better to walk away than be sacked-saves some
face.”
Their talk of quitting sparked a revolt, others in the room joining in, saying they’d walk too.
Camilla, realizing she’d been played, saw the tide turning against her. Too late to backtrack for Alpha
Gideon’s sake.
She glanced at him nervously, but he sat with arms crossed, calm, ignoring her.
“Alpha Gideon, anything to say?” Charles asked, leaving it to his son.
