Chapter 162: You are not my younger sister!
(Aria’s POV)
“How?” I was full of disbelief, my wolf whimpering anxiously within me as confusion clouded my thoughts. “What did you ask?”
I had been there from beginning to end, hanging on every word of their heated exchange. I heard every insult, every threat, every moment of tension that crackled between the two Alphas like lightning.
So how could I have missed something so important?
At this moment, Dominic had already driven away from the Storm Pack headquarters parking lot. His fingers tapped the steering wheel idly, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
His powerful Alpha presence filled the luxury SUV, wrapping around me like a warm blanket despite my confusion.
“That Alpha Alexander is indeed watertight with his words,” Dominic said, his voice carrying a note of grudging respect. “It’s impossible to get anything out of his mouth through direct questioning.”
I couldn’t help but frown slightly, my pregnant wolf stirring with frustration. “Then you still said you asked…” “He admitted it by default.” Dominic’s silver–gray eyes gleamed with satisfaction.
“Huh?” I was still completely lost, my mind struggling to piece together what I had missed. “When did he admit it by default?”
Dominic glanced at me from the side, his lips slightly curved in that knowing way that made my heart skip. “When he said ‘kneel and submit“.”
I froze for a moment, then the realization hit me like a physical blow. My wolf whimpered as the pieces finally clicked into place.
That’s right–Dominic had been clearly asking if Alexander had some leverage over my older brother at the time. The question had been direct and pointed, leaving little room for misinterpretation.
But Alexander had skipped the denial entirely and directly provoked instead. He had gone straight to that cruel challenge, revealing more than he intended.
“Oh my god,” I whispered, my hand instinctively moving to my belly where our pup was growing. “He didn’t even try to deny it.”
So much so that the sudden anger Alexander felt before we left was probably because he realized he had revealed too much. His wolf’s rage had been about his own mistake, not just Dominic’s provocation.
“But it’s useless if he just admitted it by default…” I pursed my lips, feeling even more Alexander than before.

If Alexander being stabbed by Claire to save me had previously made me feel a complex sense of guilt, that was all gone now. I had been kidnapped by Claire in the first place because of Alexander’s inability to handle his messy relationships!

And now, he had put my only older brother in his current broken state. The thought made my wolf snarl with
protective fury.
Such entanglement and relentless pursuit really made him utterly detestable!
“How is it useless?” Dominic said, his voice soothing as he reached over to squeeze my hand. His cedar scent
worked to calm my agitated wolf.
“A tightly woven net, once a small opening is torn, it can no longer hold anything.”
I glanced out the window, noticing that we were heading straight onto the elevated road. But this wasn’t the way back to the herbal remedy company, nor was it the route home to Moon Valley Residences.
“Where are we going?” I asked, my curiosity overriding my anger for the moment.
“To see your older brother,” Dominic replied, his tone becoming more serious. “Perhaps we can still pry
something out of him.”
As soon as we arrived at Silvercrest Werewolf Psychiatric Center, the chief physician immediately greeted us.
His professional demeanor was evident in the way he carried himself, but I could see the concern in his eyes.
“Alpha Dominic, Luna Aria, you’re here?”
The formal address made me feel strange, still adjusting to my new status as Dominic’s mate. But I pushed
those thoughts aside, focusing on what mattered most.
“How is my older brother?” I asked urgently, my wolf whimpering with anxiety.
“He’s stable, as long as the name ‘Alexander Reed‘ isn’t mentioned,” Dr. Marcus Thompson said gravely. “His
emotions won’t fluctuate much otherwise.”
I couldn’t help but sigh–as expected. The confirmation that Alexander was indeed connected to James’s
condition made my stomach churn with anger and grief.
“What’s wrong?” The doctor noticed my expression wasn’t quite right, his wolf’s senses picking up my distress. “Is it confirmed? Is the person who harmed Mr. James the one named ‘Alexander Reed‘?”
I nodded slowly, my hand instinctively moving to my belly where my unborn pup was growing. “It’s not certain
yet, but it’s very likely him.”
The doctor, instead of looking troubled, seemed relieved. “That’s good.”
“Why?” I asked, surprised by his reaction.
Dr. Thompson quickly explained, his professional manner reassuring. “If the patient’s series of behaviors are traceable, that means the psychological trauma affecting his wolf–human bond is only pathological.”
He paused, choosing his words carefully. “With proper medical intervention, there will always be a day when he recovers and regains his sanity.”
“Really?” I couldn’t help but feel a surge of hope, my wolf humming with renewed energy.
“Of course.” The doctor’s confidence gave me infinite hope.
At least my older brother wouldn’t be affected his whole life. As long as there was hope, there was a possibility of recovery.
And that was enough for now.

“Dr. Thompson, can we go see him?” I asked, eager to connect with James in whatever way possible.

“Of course.” The doctor quickly nodded, his expression warming. “People familiar with him like you should visit him more often. It helps him regain his sanity and reconnect with his wolf.”
He gestured toward the corridor. “Come on, I’ll take you.”
“Thank you, Dr. Thompson.”
Soon, we were led to James’s room. The sterile white walls and clinical smell made my wolf uncomfortable, but I pushed forward.
At this moment, James was sitting on the floor with a werewolf medical attendant, playing with colorful building blocks like a child.
Watching James building blocks with such innocent concentration, my heart couldn’t help but ache with a bittersweet feeling. My wolf whimpered with sorrow at seeing my proud older brother reduced to this state.
Although James and I often bickered throughout our childhood, we were bound by blood. No matter how much we argued, we were still siblings.
“James…” I couldn’t help but take a few steps closer, my voice soft and hopeful.
But James seemed not to hear me, still happily building blocks as if he hadn’t heard my words at all. His focus was completely absorbed in his simple task.
“Don’t get too close to him,” the doctor said, his voice carrying a warning as he saw I wanted to go further. “Your brother’s current behavior is aggressive. If he has an episode, his wolf might surface unpredictably and he might hurt someone.”
“Okay.” I could only stand still, abandoning the idea of approaching him further.
The distance between us felt like an impossible chasm.
“James, I’m Aria, do you still recognize me?” I raised my voice slightly, hoping to break through whatever fog clouded his mind.
Perhaps because I spoke louder, James, who was happily playing with blocks, turned his head to look at me. His eyes were unfocused, but there was a flicker of something familiar.
“Aria? Aria?” James mechanically repeated my name, his wolf’s scent barely detectable but present.
I couldn’t help but brighten up, remembering that the doctor had told me before that James had mentioned my name. It seemed he really did react to hearing it.
I nodded eagerly, hope blooming in my chest. “Yes, I’m Aria, I’m your younger sister. James, can you
remember?”
“Younger sister?” James tilted his head in confusion, his eyes growing distant and troubled.
Just as the smile on my face grew wider, expecting some breakthrough, he suddenly shook his head violently.
“No, I don’t have a younger sister, I don’t have a younger sister…” His voice became increasingly agitated, panic creeping in. “You’re not my younger sister, you’re not…”
James suddenly became frantic, his wolf’s distress evident in his elevated scent. He overturned the building blocks in front of him with a violent sweep of his arm.

The colorful pieces scattered across the floor as he clutched his head and began rolling on the ground, his body writhing with invisible pain.
“James…” My heart jumped, and I instinctively wanted to rush forward, but Dominic grabbed me with his strong Alpha grip.
His protective instincts flared as he held me back. “Don’t go over. Leave this to the doctors and nurses. Let’s go out first.”
Seeing James’s condition get more and more violent, I had no choice but to leave. The medical staff were already moving in, their experienced hands working to restrain him safely.
Looking through the observation glass, seeing James tied up with restraints to the bed by the medical staff,! felt a bitter taste in my heart. My throat felt like it was stuffed with cotton, making it hard to breathe.
My pregnant wolf whimpered with distress at the sight of my brother’s suffering.
“Dr. Thompson, is this usually his reaction when he hears the name ‘Aria‘?” Just then, Dominic’s deep, calm voice came from behind me.
His Alpha authority was evident even in his concern, his protective instincts extending to understanding the threat to his mate’s family.
I subconsciously turned around and realized that the doctor had left the ward at some point, joining us in the
corridor.
“Yes,” the doctor nodded gravely, his professional mask slipping slightly to show genuine puzzlement. “That’s
why I’m a bit curious…”
He then turned to me, his expression careful. “Miss Summers, if I may be so bold as to ask, is your
relationship with your brother usually good?”
I pursed my lips, considering how to answer honestly. “It’s all right…”
Since childhood, I had always been doting on James, showering him with the kind of sisterly affection that came naturally to me. But all older brothers usually don’t have the patience to play with younger siblings.
So, James never gave me a particularly warm reception. He was often gruff, dismissive, treating me like an
annoying little pest.
However, that didn’t diminish James’s position in my heart at all. He was still my brother, still family.
“That’s why I find it a bit strange,” Dr. Thompson took a deep breath and continued, his professional curiosity evident. “Logically speaking, the triggers that cause a werewolf patient to go into a frenzy are subconscious reactions deeply embedded in their cerebral cortex.”
He paused, choosing his words carefully. “These reactions are often related to traumatic events affecting their wolf–human bond.”
“Just like his strong reaction to the name ‘Alexander Reed‘ before, it’s the same principle…” His voice trailed off meaningfully.
I couldn’t help but get nervous, my wolf stirring uneasily within me. “Then why would James react to me in the same way?”
Dr. Thompson shook his head, his expression troubled. “I’m not quite sure about that. We can only observe

further.”
Just then, Dominic, who had been silent beside me, suddenly spoke. His powerful Alpha presence shifted with realization, as if pieces of a puzzle were clicking into place.
“Aria, I remember last time your brother argued with you, did he also say something like you’re not his younger sister?”
