Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Yasmine followed Hayden’s gaze and froze. Sebastian stood outlined against the night. His black suit blended with the darkness. Even from this distance, Yasmine could feel the cold anger coming from him like a freezing wind.
Yasmine’s eyes darkened. She thought, ‘How does he find us here?‘
“You’re staying at home tonight,” Hayden decided. “Everyone’s been eager to see you anyway.”
“Wait.” Yasmine suddenly spoke, her eyes fixed on Sebastian.
Hayden gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white. “Yasmine, don’t tell me you’re still stuck on that jerk. You see him and want another chance?”
His fists tightened. If Yasmine dared say “yes,” he’d knock her out and carry her away. He wouldn’t allow her to make the same mistake twice.
“Sebastian and Ashley’s kissing scandal is still trending. How dumb would I look chasing after him publicly?” Yasmine rolled her eyes. “I mean, there are cars blocking us. Let’s use the back alley exit.”
Hayden checked the rearview mirror. Two black cars were closing in, headlights blazing as they blocked the road.
Sebastian seemed to anticipate their plan. He planted himself firmly in the middle of the main road.
“Testing my morals? Hell no!” Hayden slammed the accelerator toward Sebastian. He only cared about Yasmine.
The Maserati’s blinding high beams made Sebastian stagger. Yet he remained unmoving, his cold stare locked on the approaching car.
“Dammit, he’s not moving!” Hayden pounded the steering wheel. The horn’s piercing blare shattered the night’s silence.
Yasmine’s eyes glittered coldly. “Then run him over,” she said coldly, her crimson lips curling around each cruel word.
Hayden pressed his thin lips into a tight line and stomped on the accelerator without thinking twice.
As the Maserati was about to hit him, Sebastian finally dodged sideways. But the car smashed into his arm with a sickening crunch. He fell hard on the pavement, sharp pain radiating through his body.
“Sir!” Truman rushed over and helped Sebastian up. “I’m taking you to the hospital right now.”
Sebastian pushed him off. Straightening up slowly, he kept his eagle–eyed gaze fixed on where the Maserati had vanished. “Follow them.”
“But your arm…” Truman’s face showed deep worry.
Sebastian turned back, his eyes turning stormy. “Now!” he repeated.
Truman had no choice but to follow orders.
Half an hour later, Truman returned. “We lost them, sir,” he said, hanging his head in guilt. “They knew Beliston’s streets too well and dodged every security camera. No way to trace them now.”
Sebastian looked toward the building. Truman got the message, quickly bringing a locksmith to open the apartment door. The place was trashed like a robbery scene, with not a single useful clue left behind.
“They’re lightning quickly,” Truman gasped. Hayden’s people had cleaned the apartment up in half an hour, with Sebastian. standing right at the entrance.
‘Get the owner’s info, Sebastian snapped.
Truman shot a worried glance at Sebastian’s dangling arm while rushing through records. “The property’s registered under Cheryl, acting CEO of Unihorizon Group.”
